Three Segements are Fun, but they lack Originality from Previous Years,
lesleyharris304 December 2015
Treehouse of Horror XXVI is a good Simpsons episode with well written segments and loads of very funny scenes. It's a fun Hallween special, as they always are, the best one certainly being Wanted: Dead, then Alive, which sees Kelsey Grammar making his first appearance as Sideshow Bob, in a segment filled with gore and huge laughs as we finally see Bob killing Bart, it's a ton of fun and I could have given this episode a nine if the other ones were as good as this. Admittedly, as far as Treehouse of Horror's go, this is disappointing, one of the worst in years, the first one is the only to offer real thrills, the opening was lame and the final segment, Telepaths of Glory, is one of the weakest Halloween segments in years, the plot goes nowhere and the found footage was already used in a Paranormal Activity parody they did a few years ago, that joke didn't need to be repeated twice, and it's used to a much weaker extent here. Homerzilla was a fun parody of the Godzilla franchise, seeing Homer as a famous movie character is always enjoyable, and I liked the satire on the film industry that was used, and their obsession with sequels and franchises, it was a clever and unexpected way to take the study that differentiated it from King Homer in Treehouse of Horror III. While it may lack originality and its three segments are not as memorable as previous years, Treehouse of Horror XXVI is still a delight.

In this years Halloween special, we see what would happen if Sideshow Bob actually killed Bart, Homerzilla attacks a city, and Bart, Lisa and Milhouse gain superpowers.

It was nice in my opinion

The intro starts in a very cartoony way, the first segment Wanted Dead Then Alive Sideshow Bob finally tries to kill Bart Simpson and doesn't know what do with his life, he turns him back to normal and kills him again, the second segment Homerzilla which is a common reference to Godzilla after Homer destroys the japanese version of Springfield and yells dojo and causes chaos and the final segment called Telepaths Of Glory which is a reference to the 2012 movie Chronicle after Bart, Lisa and Milhouse fall into a hole and discover some green sticky goo and do anything like flying, writting in the sky etc. During the gracie films ending it sounds the roar of Homerzilla like dad in lawn.

"Just cause it looks like Season 4, doesn't make it Season 4". Yeah, totally.

Horror-able episode

Warning: Spoilers
When did Treehouse of Horror switch from clever humour to just gore?

How do you move from the brilliant "Kill my boss? Do I dare to live out the American dream? Or the jury of the damned with the 1970's Philadelphia Flyers. Or the cynical knock on US election-speak - "The politics of failure have failed. We must make them work again" to this episode, devoid of laughs, seeing Bart get killed in fifty different ways and an inexplicable Godzilla spoof?

I can't believe Kelsey Grammar lent his voice to this one. And this is not the first episode voiced by Kelsey Grammar - he has voiced Sideshow Bob in every former episode (see other user review).

As comic book guy would say - worst episode ever. But with a 6.8 rating, I gusss this show will continue to blow for another 25 years.

Hit or Miss

The first segment starts well, but then it turns into too much fantasy nonsense. The second segment is the same, it starts well, but for some reason, they lose control and break the fourth wall. Also, in Japan, they respect elderly people, here they portray it like in the U. S. Honestly, the stories had a lot of potential, but to fit the dumb humor of the modern era of the series, they had to mess up the plot...

Then, the third one's problem is that if you understand the parody, it might make you laugh, if not, it may not, but in any case, it's interesting to watch, and I loved the joke about the French guy, it filled me with immense pleasure, the French joke was fantastic.
