That Dean and that music

One of the best episodes Supernatural has given to us so far, and the best episode of the season till now. In the end, we now have four dangerously powerful antagonists: Crowley, Rowena, The Family, and Metatron. Not to mention the sad angels in Lucifer's Pit and the Heavenly Angels. By doing this, Supernatural has set itself up for another four seasons at least. Now back to the episode, it was well-directed, well-balanced, and well-acted. For the first time, Charlie came out to be an important part of the show, instead of sticking out like a sore thumb. Dean was fun after a very long time. That beach question!!!! Sam's ordeal and emotions, which the show had constantly failed to highlight so far, came up this time, so powerful that his expression in the end reflected to the background music of The Who's Behind Blue Eyes (my favorite piece, and it fitted the theme as well). After a very long time, I saw Sam playing on emotions rather on righteousness, something he had been doing for quite some time. Now the antagonists. This episode introduced to the epic evil family, which keeps its hands muddied with sick magic. Book of the Damned is one of the diabolical things. The theme was great, and had a ring-Gollum vibe with Dean. Dean's acting made the book look more powerful and evil than the usual "gore" stuff. Though the pursuers went down in the end, it opened up a new door for the new villains for the show, someone non-heavenly or -hellish, chance for fresh air. The show definitely needs to come out of angel-demon wars and venture in new areas.

Best episode of the season!

This episode blew me away! From Charlie's return, the treatment of Mr. Dickwad (=Metatron), Cas' quest to get his grace back, Sam's emotions up to the great music, everything was perfect. And I thought it would be hard to follow up "Inside Man"... Once again Robbie Thompson, the writer of this episode, has not disappointed me and gave me another forty minutes of an emotional roller-coaster during which I would scream in joy and then in shock two seconds later. This is without a doubt the best episode of Season 10 (yes, even better than "Fan Fiction" and "Inside Man") and even the whole show. I can't wait to see what the last few episodes have in store (not to mention Season 11).

It is not quite the classic

This is a good example of how the overall quality of the show has slipped. The Metatron sections is compelling-Armstrong really is great at being the guy you love to hate and the writers have fun with buddy comedy with Cas but it also includes a pointless random fight. Likewise, the Styne family are a compelling concept but their introduction is sloppy and feels forced. Charlie gets a bit too lucky with a guess in this episode.

I like Metatron as a villain so i did like seeing more of him. The motws were interesting too

Talking rat

Why so many scenes with that talking rat? Since season 9 we can see less Sam and Dean and endless monologues with that disgusting rat Metathron. Why is that? Actor is insignificant, scenes are not so bad, character is beyond disgusting, I am sick scrolling forward, this show was good once!

On the other hand, I take Dean's side about the mark, no matter how much we all want it gone. But this itself was another desperate way to keep the show alive. First Sam getting out soulless from Hell, then they returned his soul but he got sick Dean got sick, Sam got sick again, Dean got the mark... It's endless predictable chain. We have also those brother small talk, are you ok, I am ok, I don't believe you, we will fight... Come on, man, it's worn out!
