Another Awesome Supernatural Finale!!!!
tahmidkhan3721 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This season was a little bit weak compared to others.I think it's become old for them to only solve normal cases.Charlie was cool.Supernatural is always known well for it's mixture of horror and comedy. Some of the episodes of season 10 was good but a lot was average.

But the last one was certainly one of the best of the series!!! It was awesome!!! Till all of Supernatural Finale were exciting, thrilling and nerve wrecking!!! This finale opened a new specter for season 11.I just want more action in season 11 than brotherly love. The exciting part of the season for me was the partnership between Dean and Crowley.I wanna see Crowley more and I want them to improve Cas.So far he wasn't as exciting as he was till season 8.But the main cast, all four of them was superb. This season didn't have much except for Demon Dean, which was my favorite,Charlie, Dean and Crowley and at last a great awesome season finale!!! Supernatural as a horror show should be more scary, but there should be some comedy and a lot of action especially from Dean,Sam,Cas and Crowley..They may want to reduce the brotherly love as we have all seen it and it is becoming more and more a loop...

At last thank you Supernatural for a great Season Finale!!!

One of the best episodes of the season. I wasn't expecting the Mark to be a lock and I wasn't expecting the Darkness to be unleashed. I'm actually excited for next season.

Epic finale and awesome setup for the next season
lamhoangnb-090222 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The Demon Dean plot is getting quite old and boring with the brother issue going on and on, so I was desperately hoping for a change. Fortunately, the season 10 finale not only solve the Mark of Cain problem but also set things up for a new powerful enemy. I miss the days when Sam and Dean were up against life-threatening forces, the Winchesters had to dig up lore, find artifact (they still do in this season - technically) and compromise with cross-road demons... and I cannot be happier that season 11 will probably bring those things back again.

However there still something I don't like in this season finale. Death died (did he, or could he?) too easily and Sam and Dean is the very reason for the release of this powerful new enemy, not to mention that Sam gave the most powerful spell book on a witch's hands and now she can do anything. I think the writer should stop creating more poor decisions for the Winchesters for a while.

All in all, this is an excellent episode and I'm hyped for the next season!

A fitting end to the Mark of Cain story
CubsandCulture5 October 2020
This episode is pretty much like the Mark of Cain storyline on the whole. It is compelling, fun and almost competes with the golden years of seasons 3-5. Ackles is great as dark Dean and this episode has one of his hard edge performances. I especially like how Death is written in this episode and moreover it sets up season 11 well. But the episode also has a few clunky elements. Sam, Cas are too nonchalant about Oskar's fate. Likewise, Oskar is way too laid back given the situation.

Season on the Whole:

Average Episode score: 8.391

Top 3:

1. The Executioner's Song 2. About A Boy 3. The Things They Carried

Bottom 3

21. Fan Fiction 22. The Hunter Games 23. Paint It Black

This is the best season since season 5 abet only slightly because season 8 is basically the same quality. But much like the backend of the series as a whole it is a noticeable notch below the golden years. It is largely because Dark Dean is such a compelling character rift; oh and Ackles turns in a very well considered season performance. I think the writers have lost a bit of daring. Cole could have and should have been developed more. Likewise, as fun as Rowena is as a character the bickering with Crowley goes nowhere and a lot of that storyline treads water. The tension between being a horror anthology and a more relationship based melodrama that defines the final years *really* shows in this episode. There is way too much A story , B story structure in this season.

Good episode, but weak finale
rami-pieva23 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The best episode in season 10. We get some action, hard decisions and a promising cliffhanger for season 11. But regarding last episode of season 10, well...there are a few plot holes. 1. Why Dean wants to kill Sam? How that would help get rid of the mark? - the mark Cain received because he killed his brother Abel. I can understand that Dean wants to kill Sam, because mark told him to do so, but not because Sams death would make the mark disappear. 2. Killing Death? Why? Please, do not tell, that Dean did that accidentally - that would be insult to the Death. And why Dean, who is always well-aimed suddenly does this clumsy mistake?

And one more thing that I've missed very much in last few seasons - please please, bring back the rock music - ac/dc, black sabbath and etc.

Wow ! They screwed up big time... Again
SallyWilliams28 September 2020
This was really an entertaining episode. but one thing is clear the world & the people would be a better place with the Winchesters dead & gone. The boys are always pretending to do good, but in the end they produce more evil and death through the evil forces they unleash. But I still like to watch because nothing is more entertaining than evil & gore

Its fine

Warning: Spoilers
Death is such a great character and i did like the mythos they built in the ep and i liked Rowena.

S10 review 7.5/10 This is my least favorite season and no its not because Charlie died or we didn't get demon dean as much as we should have, its mainly due to the very weak motw eps, the low humour and classic Dean lines that have been low since S9, the tone of the show where Demons are silly creatures, angel nerfing and boring first half. There is too much drama, not as in between the brothers but as a show its too much of a drama show, drama before was way more subtle. S9 still did a good job of showcasing the drama between the brothers but S10 had great potential that was never tapped into. Instead we got side characters getting too much drama time.

I did like the mythology of the mark and the eps containing the main plot.

Plotlines and all 1. Demon Dean and fear of becoming a demon This season is the most similar to S3 and S9 Sam is pretty much always in trouble but in S3 Dean does something stupid and sells his soul, Sam tries to save him, its impossible for them to do so and ends with him in hell. That season had a really good psychological horror built by the revelation that souls in hell later become demons. We can assume from spn mythology that only souls that are allowed to torture become corrupt and demons but anyway the scene in the dream ep where dream Dean wakes up with black eyes and says "you are going to die and this, this is what you're gonna become" is among the best scenes and the scariest scenes of the show and for it to actually be realized 7 years later is a stroke of genius but dear lord the execution... Now demon Dean in the beginning 3 eps is a jerk with zero respect for women. The karaoke scene was kinda cringe but also kinda funny i suppose. The bromance with Crowley was strange too. Is that what demons really do? Play foosball and drink and sing or was this strictly for Dean? Strange. Now in universe can't say its totally ridiculous, why would Dean straight away be murdering anyone, he must be confused with some demon existential crisis going on but all that is translated to us is that he is confused, should have gotten a bit more of the psychological state. Now as the show stands that builds as to demon Dean only starting his bad behavior, he hasn't really done much at this point. The season then is not about demon Dean but about the fear of an inevitable future in which he will become a demon and pick up from there. Unlike S3 tho i didn't feel that horror that should have been there, some bits of Dean's fear were given but it wasn't too compelling for me. Out universe also there is only a limit one can push a character, they clearly did not want Dean to be completely irredeemable, there is a limit to it, touching a stripper when she repeatedly says no or senselessly beating the security guard while the lowest he has been were apparently in our eyes ok to not cancel the character but if it was worse then who knows, the writers took a risk already with him being terrible to women, as much as people wanted more Demon Dean it had to be the end of the human character then too but still we could have gotten a bit more stupid scenes too. The flashbacks were embarrassing whenever they happened on the show because it just showed how little there was.

2. Moc The mark basically inflicts the person with serial killer disease and short temper, it kind of is ridiculous but ok, demon blood seems to do that so in this universe badness and evil and all is not only just simple human nature. Its lore is cool. Big bad gets released due to it. Finding the book and all was cool too.

3. Dean and Moc dean Dean has always had a temper, he was probably the worst as normal Dean at S8 beginning due to purgatory ptsd, then he gets the mark at S9, we thus see Dean as pretty much a hothead who likes to kill anyway, he just is usually in control of the killing part. The moc also tends to switch on and off or just isn't the focus so it appears like that. While i have nothing against grey area characters or bad boy character anti-heroes whatever Dean has always been a controlling person, with no respect for Sam's space and that's the only character he has day to day contact with, bossy and all, he already has anger issues, adding in the mark just made him more of a d*ck especially in the last ep when he talks about the girl the way he does, so the mark makes him more se*ist? Idek.

4. Lester This is just strange to me. Do the writers not check each others work or something? Dean kills him and Crowley says no dead wife no soul. So while we can believe demon Dean tries to mess with Sam that Lester is in hell human Dean says that in the 4th ep too, maybe i am wrong, maybe he just means you got him to sell his soul and that is wrong.

4. Sam Sam was such a great character in 1-6 but since then the character is just boring, he is just reacting to Dean in the motws, most relationships with other characters are about Dean. This does make sense in the way that his character is shyer and not a comedic relief but if one of your main characters is becoming stale and boring add some personality, some quirks. We do see some of his sass this season and him take action, a difference because now its Dean in danger. But they went a bit overboard i think with how callous he became and i'm not talking about Lester or Charlie but that girl in the ep where he finds the decoder.

5. Cass Usually i actually forget about him but he was the better of the characters this season, his storyline with Claire was good. He had some good classic Cass lines. I liked seeing him this season, except the first 3 eps and that snoozefest Hannah storyline.

6. Cass and Hanna storyline and rogue angels Absolutely boring. Though i did like the dilemma of rogue angels i feel i have had too much senseless killing of angels to care about that, or of angels in anyway. I liked the Hannah Cass concept but its the runtime it got i suppose. Spn was a bit too much into drama with it and i like drama in spn but this was a bit unlike spn. Not saying i wouldn't mind a female love interest just that make it not so boring and i just can't take anymore stupid angel talk.

7. The novaks I really liked this, felt very organic, the ep of the mother wasn't that great but Claire was a good addition and Cass's relationship with her. Also the way Hannah was used to get there was good.

8. Crowley and hell I know he is the king but the demons are hust shown as utterly stupid around him. Not scary at all. Crowley was fine, he wasn't as awesome as he has been but was good still.

9. Rowena and witches I love witches and spn has had some confusing witch lore but it got a bit cleared up with Rowena's intro. We get more witches this season. Rowena was a breath of fresh air really, so different. I did find her screentime that had to do without the brothers or Crowley a tad much tho.

10. Charlie aka Kevin repeat Not only was S10 similar to S9 in its tone but worse i think because it was a lot less horror and terrible joke worthy demon potrayal, it repeated the whole Kevin thing with Charlie with the brothers switching sides. Dean is particularly nasty about it telling Sam he should have been dead instead, real Dean probably wouldn't have. I liked Charlie a lot and think they could have done more with the character but i'm ok with characters dying. Also if you see the ratings and reviews of Charlie eps they are bad especially the last bad Charlie one so from the writers perspective it probably was going to happen. Now the thing is the way the death went down while ridiculous can even be made to make sense if IF they didn't pretend like Castiel doesn't exist. Really, wouldn't he be closer to Charlie than the bros? Its ridiculous. And why can't he bring her to life? Now that can be interpreted as heaven is guarded well and they are not letting souls leave but maybe the show should have said that. This could have been easily avoided if they gave Cas's grace to him after Dean beats him up and goes missing. Also this brings a writing error in S9 to my notice, heaven was closed and Kevin could not go but when Charlie is brought back by Gadreel she says she was in a dream like heaven is.

11. The stynes Actually a good villain set up done quickly.

12. Cain Pretty interesting character. I like how the one ep motw characters may suck but atleast the show has great chilling characters

13. Magnus Only for a scene but this is one of the absolute best characters they have had on the show

14. Metatron I like him. I liked how he was trolling the boys.

15. Jody Mills Like her and good character development

I see reviews of S11 and it looks promising but man S9 and S10 have made me tired mainly because the charm is missing, the craziness seems gone, the humour is minimal, i am tired of the brother's drama, i don't care about much of the other character's stretched drama but like it in small doses, the motws have no charm, there is no horror, the demons are a joke, and i can't take anymore angels. I was done before in mid season 9 and i do believe the show is worth watching but i think it just hurts to feel like the magic is gone because this show is something special and sometimes the writing is just contradictory and doesn't follow. Not sure if its because Edlund i think left at S8 he can't be responsible for all the crazy comedy, i just want that specialness and wtf factor. The most crazy this season was fan fiction which was more than awesome and then Dean turning into a teenager and it was fine but the weird connection to the mark made the writing so strange, why would they not try to get Rowena to do the spell, why does Sam act like that is not his brother, it was a big deal and was not treated as such.

Fave ep of ofcourse Fanfiction, executioners song, rowena's entry ep

'My Brother's Keeper': A Review with Minimum Spoilers
tamoghnacu26 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
If the writers play their cards right, 'Supernatural' season 11 has the potential of being the most explosive storyline of the series yet. 'My Brother's Keeper', the season 10 finale, has set the groundwork for that quite capably. This episode is one of those finales that leave you biting your fingernails off in anticipation of what happens next. I'll admit that season 10 overall was a mixed bag experience for me: there were several high points, some disappointing mediocrity, and a strong sense of déjà vu. But being the staunch 'Supernatural' loyalist that I am, I held on for the finale. And boy was it something!

The thing that excited me the most about this episode was the return of one of my favourite guest stars of the show, one who has a killer screen presence. Literally. Unfortunately though, his presence almost invariably causes some serious distress to Sam and Dean. There was no exception this time as well. Both brothers' lives go up at stake, on separate occasions.

If you've been watching 'Supernatural' this long (to continue into the 10th season), I can assume you are a fan of the Brothers Winchester and the bond they share. This episode draws attention to some major issues in Sam and Dean's relationship, their co-dependence and the compulsive need to put each other before anything and anyone else. The notion of actions being measured against their consequences is also discussed.

Season 10 had mostly focused on one major theme- the Mark of Cain on Dean's arm, Dean's resultant feelings of guilt and self-loathing, and Sam's desperation to help his brother. It all comes to a head in this aptly-titled episode. The final confrontation between Dean and Sam is at once emotion-charged and action-packed. And it reminded me strongly of the Sam-Dean showdown at the end of the season 5 finale, though the positions of the brothers are reversed here. A special mention must be made of the performances of the actors. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are both just awesome in their respective roles.

On a side note, Rowena unsurprisingly has a trick up her sleeve, and there is quite a lot we learn about her character and her shadowy past in the episode. Oh yes, and do look out for the Castiel-Crowley interaction. Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard share a very quirky and entertaining chemistry and are great fun to watch as always.

'Supernatural' is a show that often comes up with quite interesting twists on religious mythology as we know it. So this time, we are left with the exciting possibility of the Winchesters facing off what is probably the most powerful big bad in their checkered hunting careers. There are virtually endless possibilities in the road ahead. If you don't want to be left stumbling in the darkness, I recommend you give 'My Brother's Keeper' a shot.

Anti-climatic in a way....
gawa-3530921 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was okay... We were promised by Jared, Jensen, Misha, and Mark that it would be almost as intense as S5 finale, but it really wasn't. It was just a "meh" episode. Kind of a disappointment given what we were promised.

BUT OH MY GOSH I AM SO UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY THE MARK OF CAIN ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. The entire "Hi, my name is Dean Winchester, and I'm poison and kind of a douche so just stay away from me forever k thanks bye" has been getting SO OLD JFC. Like, that plot has been going on for 1.5 freaking seasons and I've just been getting bored of it lately. Glad we have a completely new(ish) plot now (even though I expect it'll be really similar to S7 with the whole "WE GOTTA DEFEAT THE LEVIATHANS/DARKNESS"). Oh well. Needed a break from the personal struggles. BRING ON ANOTHER APOCALYPSE :D

And I'm still getting tired of this "what castiel isn't a character, he's a prop" thing they've got going on. Maybe the writers haven't realized, but there is more than just Sam and Dean on the show. Some Dean + Cas interactions would have been nice, but I understand it would have been really hard to squeeze that in this episode. The "Everyone loves something" comment from Cas made me smile though :)

They conquered Darkness already
mbritton177628 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Watching this for the first time in 2023 is strange. I fell madly in love with the show when I saw Yellow Fever, which was a mistake because the light, funny episodes are few and far between. Its almost like staying in a dysfunctional marriage because you hope it will return to how it was.

This episode, I love Death so much, and Dean sharing junk food with him is the best. So the writers have Dean kill Death?! They already killed Charlie (big mistake). Then it ends with the boys releasing Darkness which already happened in this show!! Darkness was no longer locked up, she had gone off with God to bond. But Death is explaining to Sam and Dean who Darkness is?!?

Maybe we see these errors better when bingeing. At this point, I do feel this show went on too long. Don't know if I can watch further. I still love Jensen Ackles but this show needed better writers at this point.

Also: no matter an archangel, a god, a demon, a Leviathan, whatever all they ever do is slug one of the guys who goes flying; or just punches. Punches and punches....

6 stars for Death.

what?
mysteryall23 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Really? "The Darkness"? C'mon.

I have grown tired of this show since the beginning of season 6, but i am still watching it because it became a habit. I guess i am just weird to see if there is another deity or god or mythical creature that hasn't taken part yet. Such a lack of scenario...

To add up, you are creating many twists and then you just disappear, and you don't use them like they never existed. Where is that demonic- God-Child from season 4 or 5? What happened to the necklace? Why have you been so many times to paradise and you haven't searched for your parents yet?

What comes next? Adding God to the plot? Learn when a series has to end. You still have fans out there because there are ladies who love the looks of Jared, Jensen and Misha. Nothing else.

The only reason i give 2 stars is because i liked the scene with Death.
