Heart Attack is heartbreaking.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was hard to watch. As a father, I can only imagine what Irving and his wife were going through. In this current political climate it is important, nay, necessary, to remember our brothers and sisters in blue put their lives on the line every single day for little if no recognition. George was quickly becoming my favorite character in the show, and his sudden death was like a hammer to the chest. This is one of the most impactful episodes of TV I have watched.

The Hitting of the Fan
Hitchcoc1 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There are two significant events here. The first is the discovery that the guy who is being held and who went through an extradition hearing is actually working undercover. Of course, Bosch and his partner are not clued into this. These shows always show the FBI and other federal agencies to be arrogant and secretive. The second, most dramatic event, is the recognition that George is a snitch and he is gunned down in a convenience store while his bad-cop partner sits in the car outside. Let's face it. They are and were both in way over their heads. The chief is called to the scene and must face the fact that he encouraged his son to work undercover in order to move up the ladder in the department. Harry's ex-wife is approached by an FBI creep to spy on Harry and to return to her profiling job which was wrested from her in the past. Layla finally appears. There are more goings on at the Allen mansion. This case is getting better all the time.

Another strong, eventful episode

It is a tough day for the Irving family.

The plot develops and thickens considerably in this episode with a central tragic incident that is reasonably harrowing, even though there were signs that it has been coming for several episodes previously. There are also further plot reveals that increase the intrigue around certain characters and the connections between everyone.

All actors are on good form, with Lance Reddick having the biggest acting challenge. His scenes are well made and he is convincing, but it is debatable whether he has the full range necessary to display all the emotions required. Much of the drama and emotion is conveyed visually by body language and the clever way certain scenes are filmed.

Titus Welliver is on good form as always, plus credit to the writers for making his character relatable as he navigates various problems.

Good episode but contrived shooting

Warning: Spoilers
Very enjoyable episode. Furthers the plot and the show seems to be going from strength to strength.

What did bother me is the shooting. It's 100% a professional hit and the police would instantly realise that.

The gun man walks in and shoots the cop without even announcing himself.

He's not concerned with robbing the place or if the desk clerk could be armed. He double taps the officer then goes after the counter clerk. Before making a half assed cash grab from the register.

The police would instantly realise its a pro hit, doesn't matter what brass they find. They're asking, maybe it's a coincidence... ridiculous...

It's a stupid bit of writing that could have easily been fixed, at least get the hit man to properly stage a robbery.
