Exceptionally intelligent.

I will disclose I have not read Klas Ostergren's novels. As an American who hasn't, I am probably a more open viewer. However, in my experience, this is very creative and intelligent TV. I do not have to compare the mini-series to anything else. This is the quality I hope to see more of on Netflix.

The actors were superb and deeply engaging. The filming was very well done. I am not a fan of flashbacks and split time lines, but the way these were handled drew me in and intrigued me. There is a low-burning suspense throughout this series that is gripping, haunting. Dencik and Regnfors have chemistry. Ruth Fernandez delivers a consistent, puzzling femme fatale. Supporting characters are all played well by an excellent cast.

The most impressive feature of this work is its complexity. There are no predictable story lines, which are so common in today's churned out media. The episodes have a delicate weave that is torn over and over only to be sewn back again with a twist. I found the eighth chapter quite moving. I highly recommend this if you are a seasoned and patient fan of foreign serial drama.

Everything about this is brilliant! Does the book justice, the settings, the feel, the acting! Marcimain has not got enough credit for this series I think! Have watched it three times and I find something new every time!

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the first of the four parts and looked forward for the next episodes. However the second, third and forth episodes are unfortunately not as good. Maybe to many people are presented and therefore the story does not make sense. The woman Maud is looking the same in the first episode as she is when here son is 25 years old. The filmteam did not succeed in making a good book a enjoyable movie. A suppose that the move is even more unclear for viewers if they have not read the books. Maybe a better solution who have been to only make the TV episodes from the material in the first book. However some of the views from old Stockholm are nice and the main male character Klas the author is played well.

Doesn't go anywhere. A good alternative to sleeping pills.
