Gemma has realising the magnitude of her husbands affair, she makes an excuse to leave his 40th celebration. Ros visits Gemma, seemingly complicit in his affair, their friends all knew and hid it from her. By a twist of fate Gemma ends up examining 'the woman' Kate. Gemma discovers Kate is pregnant, and she finally confronts Simon, who naturally denies any wrong doing. Kate decides to abort her baby, but an intervention by Simon's mum and Ros to inform Simon of her decision, the affair has lasted two years. Gemma books an appointment with Anwar, a patient, and solicitor.
I won't point out how awesomely good Suranne Jones was again, that from now on can be taken for granted. I loved how Gemma made Ros squirm, Thusitha Jayasundera was so good in those scenes. The examination scene was so awkward too, plaudits for Jodie Comer, she was excellent.
Utterly compelling viewing, great story, wonderfully well acted, 9/10, only criticism would be how can that man keep getting an appointment? Obviously her surgery is a little different to most.
