We're in the last three episodes of Will Trent's shortened Season 2, so expect things to get intense and chaotic, at least with the cases.
The spoilers for Will Trent Season 2 Episode 8 tease that as the Gbi investigates the cold case of a girl who disappeared 13 years ago, it triggers more flashbacks of Will's childhood trauma.
As Will deals with his memories, he and Angie try to rebuild their relationship in a healthier way, so it's more than a trauma bond.
In the main story, the Gbi locates the body of a missing girl, Lily Watkins. She's been missing for 13 years, so this case overwhelms everyone.
Her murder sounds brutal since she was strangled, but she fought back.
Amanda mentions in the weekly promo that 60,000 Black women are missing in the United States, and that sounded very much like The Promise episode from CSI: Vegas when the team found the body...

Sludge metal band Thou have announced a new album, Umbilical, out May 31st via Sacred Bones. As a preview, the lead single, “I Feel Nothing When You Cry,” is out today.
Known for their tectonic sludge-doom, the Nola outfit speeds things up on its latest track. A propulsive groove sets the pace and locks in, though it is slathered in textures of feedback and harsh howling vocals. If there was an accessible punk song buried under there, Thou — never one for compromises — manage to rough it up beyond recognition.
Umbilical will be the group’s third full-length on Sacred Bones, following its 2020 collaborative effort with Emma Ruth Rundle, May Our Chambers Be Full. The band shared the following artist statement regarding Umbilical:
“They’ve called us anarchists, criminals, foreign meddlers, lunatics, dispossessed, relativists, utilitarians, egoists, passion maximizers, ascetics, negators of everything. Clearly, the ‘Thou’ experiment is never going to appeal...

Christian and Sibi Bale yesterday helped break ground on Together California, a new foster care community in Palmdale co-founded by the couple and Eric Esrailian. The community, which will prioritize keeping brothers and sisters together, is set to consist of twelve foster homes and a 7,000-square-foot community center.
Led by Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger , whose district includes Palmdale, the city gave $1.2 million dollars to get construction going. That followed a two-year fundraising effort with private donors led by Bale and Esrailian, who also happens to be a health sciences clinical professor of medicine at UCLA.
“When I first heard about the model of Together California, I was all in,” said Barger in a statement. “I made a commitment to bringing it to the Antelope Valley and appreciate the City of Palmdale for stepping up to also support the program.

The opening of the cheekily-titled Lisa Frankenstein tells you all you need to know at the start: After a Tim Burton-esque credit sequence detailing the short, sad, tragically unmarried lifespan of The Creature (Cole Sprouse), we flash-forward to today—that is, 1989—where sparkly goth teenager Lisa Swallows (Kathryn Newton) traces an etching over his gravestone. Like one of her peers doodling an imagined married name in her notebook, she caps off the “Frankenstein” with her own name scrawled in fuchsia lipstick. All this is set to When In Rome’s yearning banger “The Promise,” an ambitious needle drop that director Zelda Williams and writer Diablo Cody’s film unfortunately never quite fulfills.
It should be a killer mashup of a premise, but the emotional underpinnings don’t even reach six feet deep. Not about Lisa and The Creature’s forbidden love as two misunderstood misfits, nor the Heathers-esque killing...

Evan Peters and his “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” co-star Niecy Nash-Betts are currently the odds-on favorites to take home the Emmys for Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actor and Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress, respectively. If both prevail in January, “Dahmer” will join a very small group of programs that have bagged both prizes.
Since the limited series/TV movie supporting acting categories were created in 1975, only four programs have won both awards. The first to do it was the telefilm “The Promise” (1986), which racked up victories for James Woods in lead and Piper Laurie in supporting. It was followed by another TV movie, 1996’s “Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny” (Alan Rickman and Greta Scacchi), and the two-part miniseries “George Wallace” in 1998 (Gary Sinise and Mare Winningham).
Rounding out the quartet is another miniseries, “Angels in America,” which triumphed for Al Pacino in lead and...

CSI: Vegas had some big shoes to fill since the spin-off started in 2021 because the original series was a fan-favorite and ran for 15 seasons.
CSI: Vegas Season 1 focused on establishing the team and ridding the team of the scandal that Hodges was accused of. They needed Grissom and Sara’s expertise to do that.
During CSI: Vegas Season 2, they brought Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) back to have another legacy character to entice long-time characters. Catherine interacted with more of the newer characters on a variety of cases, but she was gone for a few episodes at a time, which would disrupt the flow of her stories.
The season had its ups and downs as it struggled to find a mystery viewers cared about. Instead, the series excelled by featuring character-centric storylines or episodes that expanded on each character’s personality and family.

In the article series Sound and Vision we take a look at music videos from notable directors. This week we look at Duran Duran's Do You Believe in Shame?, directed by Chen Kaige. Chen Kaige is a director mostly known for stagey and stately melodramatic period pieces, like Farewell My Concubine, which won him the Palme D'Or in Cannes. Often his films are set in his native China, exploring themes of family and love in lush settings. Later, more spectacular films like The Promise and Battle of Lake Changjin 1 and 2 infuse his style with more action. One thing Chen Kaige isn't associated with is American films, probably because of the humongous flop of his erotic thriller Killing Them Softly; or a modern day...

Pulsar Content has acquired “Niki,” a film about the famous French-American artist Niki de Saint-Phalle, for international sales. The Paris-based banner will introduce the period project to buyers at the Cannes market with exclusive first stills.
“Niki” marks the feature debut of popular French actor Céline Sallette and stars Charlotte Le Bon (“The Walk” “Saint-Laurent”) as de Saint-Phalle.
Le Bon recently made her feature debut with “Falcon Lake” — which bowed at Cannes last year — and previously starred in Robert Zemeckis’s “The Walk,” as well as Terry George’s “The Promise” and Jalil Lespert’s “Saint-Laurent.” Le Bon stars in “Niki” opposite Damien Bonnard (“Les Misérables“).
The movie will portray Saint-Phalle from the age of 23, when she’s still a model and an aspiring actor who is married and has a two-year-old daughter, Laura. Together, they flee the U.S. during the oppressive McCarthy era and come to France, where they experience a short-lived euphoria.

Even though the child and the story itself were creations of the CBS show’s writers, the emotional toll was so palpable that Newsome came to understand why most homicide detectives call it quits after serving 10 years.
The heartbreaking story of “The Promise” began when remains of a child were found in a garbage drum on the floor of Lake Mead. The CSI team learned that the Jane Doe went missing four decades earlier – and the circumstances that led up to her disappearance as well as the lingering pain of the child’s mother were equally as tragic.

Did you cry? CSI: Vegas Season 2 Episode 17 was one the most emotional episodes of the franchise as Max Roby discovers the body of a young girl who was murdered 40 years ago and promises the skeptical mom justice.
TV Fanatic had the pleasure of talking to CSI Franchise creator Anthony Zuiker, actress Paula Newsome, and guest-star Regina Taylor about the emotional moments of this Emmy-worthy episode and the deleted scenes.
I had so much fun chatting with the three of them. Check out the interview below:
So, Anthony, what inspired you to write this episode featuring both of these talented women?
Anthony: Well, once upon a time this season, I wrote a show called Koala that you wrote about earlier. Then Paula Newsome pulled me aside and said I want my Koala.
I went to Austin, Texas, for five days, watched Karen Taylor's' masterclass on facial reconstruction, and brought that tactical science back to the show.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for CSI: Vegas Season 2 Episode 17, “The Promise.”] “I want me a ‘Koala’!” Paula Newsome told franchise creator Anthony Zuiker (referring to the Marg Helgenberger-centric episode earlier this season), and she got it with the latest CSI: Vegas. When a young girl’s remains are found 40 years after her murder, her mother (Regina Taylor) doesn’t exactly trust the cops … until Max proves she can. Zuiker, who co-wrote the episode (with Alex Berry), and Newsome take us inside the powerful hour. Anthony, why did you want to tell this story? Anthony Zuiker: One of my goals this season was to write two big solos, one for Marg Helgenberger [“Koala”], [and] one for Paula Newsome. I knew that based on the bodies in the barrel that were found in Lake Mead kind of linked to mob hits was one way to go. I didn’t want to do a cliché mob story, but I...

David Lindley, the dexterous and elfin multi-instrumentalist who died yesterday at the age of 78, could delight in sharing a few tales about his days on the road with Jackson Browne, James Taylor, and the other leading troubadours and songwriters he backed during the Seventies and Eighties. There was the time, he told me in 2013, that he saw one of them talking up a backstage female visitor. Lindley grabbed a bottle of apple juice, went over to his boss and told him his urine sample was ready. Needles to say, the...
