So, Sid and Marty Kroft and Cesar Millan got together and...
Hailey-71 September 2015
When you think of Sid and Marty Kroftt, you think of their wacky children's shows that dominated TV in the 1970s. When you think Cesar Millan, you think of the canine behavioral guru, who helps humans handle their hounds. Who ever thought the two would ever come together. No-brainer since all (or most) kids LOVE dogs and puppets. The basic plot is Calvin Millan (Cesar's teenage son) and Mutt (imagine H.R Pufnstuf, if he was a giant dog, geddit "Mutt & Stuff"= "Pufnstuf) run a school/day care center for dogs (played by real dogs).

Rounding out the cast are a talking fire hydrant and two cats who act like Statler and Waldorf. There's not much educational value or kid appeal in this show, but if you want to watch dogs and puppets act silly for 20 minutes, this show is for you!

Good show but missing dogs in season 2
kendalllisatucker9 March 2016
I loved this show until they started removing regular dogs from the original cast....Mr Shades has been a regular dog from day one. Now I find myself explaining his disappearance to my 2 year old. He's been our favorite and now I doubt we will continue watching. Also, Cricket the dog rarely gets airtime! As for young Calvin I think he's doing a wonderful job. I have seen his acting get much better as the show goes on. I wish him luck as I think he will go far.It seems to me they continue to add more puppets to the show. Which is fine.I just wish they would stick with all the original dogs. Its tough explaining where they have gone to a toddler/ preschooler. I'm very disappointed!

Interesting show for preschoolers, If you like dogs
meisterburger2317 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
For the record while I do love both dogs and puppets this show felt very bland to me, I know it's for preschoolers but still. Also the talking trees at Mutt & Stuff looked creepy. Not sure if it was intentional but whatever. Surprisingly this show has lasted for 73 episodes and two seasons and it released it's last episode on November 1.

Mutt & Stuff is about a dog school with Calvin Miller playing himself who teaches at this dog school. The show is harmless and it does teach some education in being appreciated of animals. Most of the episodes have the dogs solving problems and helping others out. Season two introduced Annie the animal rescuer who is played by Rachel Eggleston and becomes a recurring character in later episodes.

There is also Stuff a huge stuffed dog who coincidentally happens to be H.R. Pufnstuf's nephew. Don't ask me how, I'm confused as everyone else.

Over all it's not a bad show, it has some charm like the cats who act like Startler and Waldorf from the Muppet show and there is a talking fire hydrant named Melvin. H.R. Pufnstuf makes a couple of guest appearances with Freddy Flute and Cling and Clang but it's a cute show. They tried too hard.

5/10 decent not good or bad either

cant believe something this bad on nick Jr
syedabbasreza25 January 2016
If you are longing for the days of cheesy, poorly produced shows that you would only find on public access cable channels then this is the show for you.

Calvin Millan has limited acting ability which is obvious from the over the top, repetitive expressions and gestures. He also seems to have trouble annunciating all the words clearly. I hate to criticize him this way but its grating to watch, really. It does not help when we find out he is the son of the executive producer Cesar Millan. Nepotism on full display ?

The show has potential since there are plenty of dog lovers who will tune in just for the animals. However Nickelodeon would do well to keep the Millans behind the camera and bring in some real talent from the other shows.

Hard to believe this is from the same Nick Junior that aired Dora, Blues

Clues and Backyardigans.

We love it!
Kandyapple00728 November 2015
The little boy I watch during the week (1.5 years old) loves puppies, so it's a great show for him. It may not have "educational value" in the sense of things kids would learn in school, but it does teach kids how to interact with dogs, which I believe is very important for children. Children need to be taught how to treat and interact with animals. If they don't know the proper way to treat and interact with animals, they have a higher chance of getting hurt by an animal, which at that point it's not really the animal's fault for doing what their instinct is when they feel threatened. I also think it's a great "break show" from all the others that do teach traditional educational topics. Yes, it's great to have shows to assist in teaching kids, but anyone old enough to have kids can't possibly say they didn't watch anything without educational value. It's OK to let kids watch something just because it's fun every now and then. You can't rely solely on educational programs to teach your kids, so what's the harm in letting them watch something that's just cute, as long as it entertains them? And if it doesn't entertain them, so what? Not every show is going to attract the attention of every child. My advice is give it a chance and if your kid doesn't like it, oh well.

Awful
paula-2984920 August 2015
I am completely disappointed with Mutt & Stuff this is the lamest new show Nick Jr.has. I had such high hopes knowing who made this show but I swear my son's IQ dropped as he was watching it. I seriously can't believe this show even made it to Nick Jr. We will not be watching this dribble. My son had no interest in this show it couldn't keep his focus. It has no educational value, the actors seem to be having difficulty even saying there lines & so unrehearsed sounding.Even there actions seem well fake fake fake! I love Nick Jr's line up of shows & there are a ton of other shows on Nick Jr for my son to watch just not this show! I really do hope they remove this show....

My daughter loves this show!!!
philipm-9891919 January 2016
My daughter is two years old, and she absolutely loves this show. She is laughing, giggling and clapping throughout the entire show. When she hears that opening theme song she immediately start dancing to the catchy beat.

But what's there not to love about this show? There are dogs doing fun and cool tricks, a giant stuffed animal that can talk, and one of the best opening theme songs for a kids show. This show has a lot of appeal for children. The teacher Calvin has such a fun and exciting attitude, and helps make this show very entertaining to watch.

I actually enjoy watching this show with her as well. I think i get just as excited as she does when we hear that opening theme song. Because we both know that we're in for a treat.

I would recommend this show to any parent whose kids love dogs.

Worst thing ever on TV
mlandauer-30-5492481 February 2016
This is seriously bad. Kids will actually be dumber if they watch it, which they should never ever do.

The concept is good, and it is easy to see why is was given a green light, but the execution is so horrible. The writing is about as bad as it could be, but the annoying over-the-top delivery of these lines is too much for anyone to bear.

A tip for the director: make the actor watch a few episodes of Sesame Street. The adults there who act with puppets seem ... Human. It's easy. Don't sing-song-shout every word you say and present them with grand gestures.

Excellent show for young and old...
jjnaples23 February 2016
Greysen loves Mutt & Stuff and so do I. Very cute, fun, positive, lots of great activities.....Shows manners, discipline, educational....great for young and old......Grammy likes it too. Be happy is a good way to go and this show is nothing but, happy!!!! How can you not love the Milan family....Dogs are all terrific and well trained, love the new mouse.....Dancing, singing, all smiling and good natured. Greysen is a dog and animal lover so he can connect to each of these critters. A must show for all kids. Greysen always finds something he really likes in each of the shows. He leaves the program with a fun attitude and learned a new lesson from each one. An asset to TV where there is so much negativity on it...Keep this one going. KUDOS to Mutt & Stuff and each of the crew....love you

Annoying
karlynmlewis12 November 2015
This show is very annoying. The way Calvin talks, and especially the newest show with the fake "country singer" really gets on my nerves - and it doesn't help that they keep playing that horrible "Baby Lou" song over and over on the commercials. The fact that the show doesn't really have any educational value makes it unbearable. I love animals and the best thing about this show is the trained dogs and cats, but it is not enough to make me want to let my son watch it ever again.

Some of the other Nick Jr. shows are annoying as well, of course, but at least they have some educational value such as teaching letters, numbers, or morals. Mutt & Stuff needs to work some educational value in if they want to continue, in my opinion.

Great and Entertaining, My kids absolutely love it!
hauteswanfashionboutique30 September 2016
My 1 year old and 3 year old baby are mesmerized by this show. They love it. In fact while the 1 year old was throwing a fit I turned the show on and they suddenly turned around and started watching it. The dogs are so well trained and are adorable! It's clean and fun entertainment for kids.

There are so many amazing animals on the show and they are so sweet and positive the kids jumped for joy when the show came on. The host has a overly positive smile but it's all good because the kids smile when they watch the show. It has a great mix of animation, puppets and live animals. The colors are bright and exciting!

Thank you so much for putting out clean content for our kids. Glad their attitudes are so positive on the show! We appreciate your clean programming and we will be watching your channel and excellent programming Nick! The kids love it! Kid approved!!!!

Does Calvin Millan ever stop smiling?
colaof22 February 2017
I'm just going to come right out and say that I am not a fan of Mutt & Stuff. I love dogs, but even that love is not enough for me to put up with this show. Calvin Millan might very well be the worst actor I have ever seen. Seriously, does this guy ever stop smiling? Watching him actually makes my face hurt. It's clear that he's only on this show because he is the son of producer Cesar Millan, which only makes me despise them both even more than I already did. I have never liked Cesar, and this goes back to his previous show the Dog Whisperer. All that show ever did was point out things that most dog owners should already know (a lot of common sense things), and the fact that this guy is so highly regarded is baffling to me. The trend continues with Mutt & Stuff, only this time around they seem to be under the impression that their audience are absolute idiots. As the mother of a 5 year old I take offense to that. My son watches the show from time to time, but admits that he's not crazy about it. This show has no educational value. The only thing that's even remotely entertaining are the dogs themselves, who all consistently outperform their human counterpart. A point that really spotlights Calvin Millan's nonexistent acting ability considering that it's obvious these dogs are reacting to a trainer off-screen. Nick Jr. shows are nothing like they used to be, but at least the majority of them attempt to teach kids something. This one, however, does not. A lot have suggested that this show would be better if the Millan's remained behind the camera, and while I agree that a change like that would make the show more bearable, it still wouldn't make the show any more educational, which is something I thought Nick Jr. was striving for. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

Great entertainment for the littles
smartwittygirls26 January 2019
This show was very entertaining especially since they used a bunch of pups. I wouldn't say it was educational but it had a good message.
