Mind 'NO' Mind

Upendra said in an interview "It was an unfinished story. In the end, he (protagonist) leaves everything behind and goes away. There is no answer to what next. What happened to him? In a film you can show such abruptness. But what really happens to him if he were real? That question always bothered me. It was a conflict within me wanting to know what happened. Our lives are a constant search to find the ultimate truth..."

In 'Upendra-1' the protagonist was in search. In this movie the protagonist is content and happy. He enjoys and makes fun of the (odd?) ways of society.

The protagonist in the movie keeps on saying the same thing "What you are looking is here and now" and yet no one bothers to look there and then. The protagonist keeps on saying that he is a CHANGED man now and yet no one cares. People rather than looking into him, kept on searching. People who knew his past (characters from uppi-1), kept searching him in his past without realizing that past is just a reconstruct of mind. People who were interested in his future (Police and other characters interested in will), kept on searching in his future without realizing that future is again a construct of mind. No one in the movie (or in the audience) bothered to look into him. No one was in the present. People who watched movie without thinking about 'what happens next?' can get the message, otherwise they will miss it… Most people thought that the movie is about 'Neenu'(YOU). When 'Naanu' (I) dies, Neenu(You) can't exist. 'I' exist because 'You" exists. When 'I' dies, the very variable of comparison dies. Therefore the movie is not about 'Neenu'(You) .

The movie is about 'NO MIND'. It reminds me of 'ZEN' movies of China, Japan and Korea. Movie tries to explain 'No Mind' with 'Mind'. Mind on its own doesn't exist. It has no existence of its own. Therefore it is not substantial. On the other hand, mind is a continuum of thoughts. (All the scenes in the movie are in continuum and random). We don't realize this continuum due to our unconsciousness. Sit for moment. Watch your mind without judging. You realize random thoughts coming and going. If you go little deep, you can also witness intervals in between thoughts.

Thinking is always about future or past. As you are, you can't be without thinking. You can not do any activity without thinking/no mind. No mind is evolved state wherein consciousness guides. 'No mind' is the state of being; not activity. Consciousness becomes the master and mind becomes the servant. Ever wondered why Krishna became charioteer. Krishna represents consciousness and Arjuna represents mind. In a state of 'no mind' Consciousness guide the mind.

This movie is about a quest of a person who has attained 'No Mind'. Paradox is that one attains state of 'no mind' at the verge of his quest. When quest itself end, nothing exists. All this human struggle is for finding that quest. You can call it happiness or Moksha or something else. When there is no quest, neither present exists nor future. One is utterly content within. He lives. No future. No past. Therefore there cannot be any end as 'end' itself is futuristic… There are glimpses of Tantra (with Parul Yadav and in a scene with Kristina).

We can see Upendra dressing in a typical Osho style and trying to imitate him in a way in the movie...

Contentment is subjective and very inner experience. You cannot make a movie on contented person. Although one can make movie on how one attains that state.

I knew making a movie on 'no mind' was very difficult, yet director has given his sincere attempt. He should be appreciated for his guts.

I personally think screenplay could have been made more interesting.

The movie is not raw with dialogs as in Uppi-1. It is more mature, witty and more sharp. It is raw in 'Zen' sense. A kind of raw 'Zen' movie. It can be watched/enjoyed with family...

Uppi 2 story:

Uppi 2 is a brilliantly made movie by director Upendra. If we observe the story and the characters carefully it makes complete sense. Upendra creativity is at its best in this movie.

So firstly, we should remember that all the characters in the movie are related to how our mind works, how it thinks of the past and how it predicts the future.

Past: This is represented as 'Nanu'. It is the mistakes, the attitude we had in the past, it is how our mind used to think in the past. Note that this 'Nanu' always haunts the present 'Neenu' in the form of L K Bala. We see Nanu through the character Bala. The present 'Neenu' will always get doubts on himself, he is always haunted about his past. This is how our mind works, we brood about the past and this will prevent us from getting 'Kushi' (Happiness).

Future: This is 'avanu'. It is the predictions we make about our future This is represented by the story of Shakeel and the undercover cop. 'Shakeel' character here represents success(money). Upendra has shown in the movie that the undercover cop is in pursuit of killing Shakerel, this can be seen as our mind in pursuit of success, our mind will keep thinking if we do this or that success will follow. Shakeel here is a metaphor for success.

Present: In the present situation, Upendra has told the present 'Neenu' mind should not think about anything and should not get any doubts about himself by thinking of the past. The happiness we search for in present can be achieved if we live in the present and not brood about it in the past, this is the thinking according to L K Bala. Our mind will always be blogged by our past and hence we cant move forward thinking about the past. he always thinks of the past and feels present 'Neenu' will never change because of how he was in the past as 'Nanu'. Note that Upendra had told that we should learn from our mistakes and work our present mind accordingly, that's how he acts as present 'Neenu' learning from his mistakes as past 'Nanu' He has made several references of the past and how he has improved himself.

The Will: If we have the will, you will find a way. The will states that don't think too much and work for yourself, you'll get kushi(happiness). That is the significance of the will.

The whole movie is a metaphor.

1 guy (hero) calls police and Rowdies to 1 place. He marries the girl who has 1000 Cr property, while police+rowdies kill each other. what is so complicated in this ? Uppi can make it complicated #‎Uppi2 8/10

OTHER HIDDEN PERSONIFICATIONS : Actually i think all characters are both humans and personification they equally exist The other hidden personification which likely True in my Openion is "The story is about how your past (detectives), Your future dreams and ambitions (police) , your family, friends and neighbors (hula, family and local gang) Should not destroy you being happy (neenu marrying Kushi) and you tackle your problems by thinking what is required for current moment of space-time.(villains personifies problems in life and in-between you and your happiness) and By stopping to over think on your futuristic thoughts you actually end-up destroying your problems (directing the police i.e future thoughts towards problems / villains ).

FOR PEOPLE WHO DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE MOVIE (GAPS At least I THINK ARE NOT):

who blasted the Ship ? that might be an accident

who was Naanu ? that was just a Vikrama Betal story character that was told again between people simply to connect and confuse. (parul Yadav to heroine)

Who was heroine ? she was acting as "Lakshmi" while she was actually "Kushi" to divert the villains. (Happiness always is seen as money, but when Ur happy and not lazy, money automatically comes to u was the message)

who was that cop who saved the rich women ? we do-no where he went, but there is a possibility it was Uppi (this is a small flaw when it comes to characters when they are not personification COPS Profile might be available in the police database with photos and may be thats why the other police know about him / Its a flaw in the movie which even UPI dint think about)

Who was the Sanyasi / Muni ? we know he existed (shayyaji found papers in his hut)... and every one thinks it was Upendra, but he was some one else. (villans might have killed him, thats how they know about the will, else why would he leave a copy there in the hut)

how do u know "Neenu" called them ? Title caption says it "Neenu unknown nu" and in the movie "Unknown number called"

So who is Neenu ? selfless guy who's past and background is "UNKNOWN".

Is Neenu a bad guy who acted or is he a real good guy ? Stop thinking about it, doesn't matter who he was.... he got 1000 Cr !!

Who was Detective talk to when when white screen was showed ? It was you (the real Neenu) who is sitting in the theater. Detectve is actually asking every one in the theater, Who is "Neenu"/"who r u ?". That is why the scene is repeated 2 times. 1 with fake audience and 1 with real audience "YOU"

Fine, so what is the twist / gist? Every character in this movie is you / it is a personification of the You who is inside you and around you !! So What is the Will about? Mother nature has already written a set of rules on how to be happy and has given it to humans (people have discovered that through meditation and they have spread the word) SO Who was the detective : It is the person inside you who things about the past, who haunts you with your past. So Who was the police : The person inside you, who keep imagining unnecessary things about the future. Who was the Villain : Problems in life which could likely destroy your happiness Who was Kushi : happiness Who was Lakshmi : money that flows when you work at the moment and be happy. While the story in my previous view is equally true and all the Q &A remains unchanged !!

This is one of the rarest of the rare movies that, in typical Uppi style simply defies any review. The only way to review this would be to watch it yourself. There are only two types of people - those who love Uppi movies and those who don't understand Uppi movies. This guy is like a genetically engineered hybrid of Nolan, Tarantino and Hitchcock.

This movie requires at least 2-3 viewings to even sink in. The climax simply leaves you shell-shocked and if you see the faces of those coming out of the theater, it will be like they saw a ghost or something. While successful movies from all languages are remade in other languages, I've always wondered why Upendra's movies are never remade, but only dubbed. The answer is simple. It is impossible to remake Upendra's content. I don't think there is any director or actor in the world or at least India who has either the guts or the capacity to remake Upendra's movies.

And it is to Kannada film industry's eternal credit that talents like Upendra or Rakshit Shetty, Anup Bhandari or even Puttanna Kanagal and Shankar Nag can emerge without any godfathers or famous, well connected fathers!

Take a bow Uppi! Take a bow Sandalwood!

Its not a movie, its a counseling session with healing therapy to our problems!

Uppi is back with another master piece. Another flick with deep message to the world. It talks about how every person thinks and what each one of us go through in our daily life. This movie shows 2 contrast characters naanu(selfish) and neenu (selfless) and depicts that if are selfless and enjoy your present life rather over thinking about future or worrying about past. You can't compare this movie with any other movie.

I am sure you will be relived from all your problems and you will feel the sense of freshness in your life.

Very nice narration and wonderful direction. Kristina looks gorgeous and has done very good acting. Upendra has intentionally created confusion at the end. But if you get the message right, then you will get the reason behind the confusion caused.

Camera work is amazing and excellent background score music. Must Watch..!! Watch without expecting any Indian movie routine elements. Its an attempt to social reformation!!

Don't Live in Past, Don't Think About Future..! Uppi 2 Back with Typical Masterpiece of India..!

• Director Real Star Upendra is back with yet Another Cult Classic. It amazes each and every time how this Specialist comes with such a Kickass concept Again and Again with New Josh and Effective screenplay.

• It's Director Uppi All the way. He has shown that he is the Most Lethal Weapon of Sandalwood in terms of Direction department. Probably, Only Director in the World who makes the Audience Think, whether the Movie has come to an End or Not? Half of the Audience in the theatre weren't aware that Movie has finally ended. Director Uppi's legacy continues.

• Movie Rolling cards with Uppi-2 Title track sung by Appu. Starts off on an Impressive Note. First Half is All about Philosophical dialogues and moves at a brisk pace without any boring moments. It's the second Half of the Movie, where you can see that Rawness in Uppi's Direction as expected. Uppi has given a Lot of work for Audience to think all time via confusing screenplay.

• Great performances from everyone lift the Movie to an All New Level. Most of the characters from Upendra-1 make their appearance on screen. There is a striking resemblance to the previous version. Movie also has few scenes from Upendra-1. Bank Janardhan, Shobh Raj, Biradar and other supporting Artists are a treat to watch.

• Kristina Akheeva looks damn gorgeous on big screen. Has performed extremely well. She is here to stay for Long. Parul Yadav comes in a Few scenes and sparkles in a Song sequence.

• No Excuse Me & Beku Beku Songs from GuruKiran are captured well. Audience would love watching it on big screen.

• Dialogues, which are the Main stay of Uppi's Movie, are the Main Plus for UPPI-2. Here is a Prime example "Ashramadalli Dudilla, Aaaa Shramadalli Duddidhe".

• Moreover, shocking Climax of the Movie leaves you thinking!!!

Movie Mugithaa? Ilva? –This confusion prevails. "Don't Live in Past, Don't think about the Future, Live the Life to the fullest at present. "Ee Present Maatra Satya"

Verdict: Another Gem of a Movie from Real Star. It's a Sumptuous Treat for Uppi Fans.

Uppi2 is a creative movie,which says nothing but which also says something and it can be everything. And it may not everything. Only #upendra can give such #confusing #fabulous # wonderful #thought which makes our brain to think... #thinking matters and may not matter's but surely there is some matter which can't be a matter. Finally saying Uppi2 a movie that every human being with dreams, selfishness,suppositions, thinking and all kind of feelings must watch the movie. Movie makes you to think & analyze the past, present, and future of life. Which time is important to life? Does it is past or present or future. What exactly life is? Who think he knows and says,he knows not but how think he knows not & says, he knows everything.

Uppitu alli Uppithri...

Main character of the movie is the will, not the property will but the person will.

Where there is a will there is a way if you make I (Nanu) goes out of you then you (Neenu) meets the happiness (Khushi).

So don't try to search the Khushi character in the movie which is just an illusion but try to search Khushi in your life by loving the present.

Waiting for more from Uppi and all the unique talents of Namma Kannada industry....

Which I understood:

Our mind acts like a monkey, it has been categorized as 3 types of monkeys...Past, Present, and Future..

Past and Future monkeys always live in illusion and they miss everything...The monkey which lives in present will not think about anything...lives in reality and gets everything...

Neenu – (You) will be in present...but Sheela miss lead (us) to (past) ... Police officer miss lead (us) about (future) plans of undercover agent... whoever goes behind past and future (illusion) their life destroyed in the end ....But Kushi stays with (present) Neenu... (Truth) will get everything....

In the end... ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡೆ ಹೇಳಿರೋದು ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ... Accept the reality..UPPI Is the Best... UPPI 2 Is Awesome!!!!!

Weak Script and Substandard editing

Don't waste time... Move on! There are better made movies in Kannada by the same director but this is not one. An intern can do a better job editing movies! I am terrified with the quality and content.

I don't know if I should call it an experimental as well... cos, even that qualifies better effort. Heroine is the bravest of the lot, to have accepted to be part of such movie!

I like Upendra for many reasons as much as I hate him for this sort of Movies. He directs better in a controlled environment... maybe by casting a seasoned actor in the main role. Upendra was already an inferior quality but this beats hands down.

Uppi2 team, go get a life. Feels like a 'no-sense movie' made to entertain a brain dead person

Alert: Please watch Upendra movie to fully understand Uppi2

When you come out of the movies you feel your brain is baked/roasted. What the hell is this movie all about.

But when you rethink about the concept of the movie which Upendra tried to tell in this movie, you feel amazed. Its "concept" is roughly Inception + Interstellar combined told in a vernacular way. (Only concept not the story)

There is no conclusion to this movie. Audience have to analyze and come to a conclusion of what might have happened in the end or what the director is trying to convey. Or there might be a part 3.

You cannot rate this movie. Its beyond that. Those who liked this movie might rate it 20/10 who dint like it may say 0/10.

Am sure some may not like this movie. Because they are not used to such complex concept.

What happens when a Hollywood style movie is made in Sandalwood!!!!!

First of the postmortem of Uppi2 for friends who did not get it.

Characters in the movie :

Past - Nanu - Old Upendra Future - Avnu - Undercover officer Upendra Present - Neenu - Common man Upendra with family

As we know Naanu is old Upendra who can do everything to get what he wants. He is past thats why that villain always thinks about Nanu and he lives in past. (remember scene where he is on hospital bed and telling how nanu beat him).

Next is Avnu this is future uppi who is undercover officer and police officer, saleem (dubai don) always think uppi as Avnu and they live in future.

Last one is Neenu. The one who doesn't think, He lives in present. Mandakini thinks about uppi as Neenu. But Lakshmi is confused she don't know who is real and who is present. For everyone Lakshmi and khushi both are different but for neenu khushi it self Lakshmi Every one had the lakshmi but they wanted to grab khushi with the help of Lakshmi. Where as uppi had the khushi with her so lakshmi came to her i.e., will.

Film had another face also which is, Both past and future want to find the khushi by using weapons of regret (repent) and hopes.

To elaborate Director showed that we cant find the happiness just by using past or future. the scenes where the character thinking about past (old villain) fight with old uppi (Nanu) And the characters thinks about future fight with undercover officer (Avnu). That is saleem (Dubai don) and cid officer and polices fight with avnu respectively.

Why they fight??? To get the khushi. Why khushi ??? Because it will lead them to will ( million dollar money i.e., will) Actually those fights didn't happened in real they are just dream and future events according to past and future characters.

Now about that WILL According to that will written by mandakini one who marry with her daughter khushi, all the money goes to them. She given a hint Not to think.

Every character in the film thinks,thats why they didn't find the khushi. Where as Neenu follows the will and thats why he finds a way. So Lakshmi came to him only because he had that khushi.

To explain this let us consider one scene, Neenu's sister complains about a guy who is torturing her so Neenu tell her sister just don't think of him and she does, Then next day some one killed that guy Who killed??? Answer: Mandakini's rowdies Because he is following her will so he find his way. Which is showed in the film as help from Mandakini.

Mandakini is the lady behind Neenu. When police arrest Neenu then they got a call they got the higher orders not to arrest Neenu. Actually mandakini is that high reference who is saving Neenu only because he is following her will.

The only thing real is Neenu who lives in present and talks to Lakshmi in climax scene.

Climax In climax neenu explains the Lakshmi about Nanu and Avnu are just in her mind as they are not real. If you judge me by my past you will see Nanu. If you judge me by future you will see Avnu.

The Review:

Uppi2 was not technically as brilliant as few of the recent Sandalwood movies but not the worse as well. Audio Lip sync was quite off in most of the scenes. Few scenes from previous directorial ventures of Upendra were a treat for the fans.

Audience looking for entertainment and feel good movie should avoid the movie. Songs were on moderately good. Final Verdict - Neenu helbeku.

One of The worst movies in kannada

Story : Upendra wanted to repeat the success or maybe wanted it to be better than Uppi 1 , but let me tell you the story is twisted so much that I bet Upendra had a hard time explaining the script to anyone and even he might would have confused . I urge the fans not to judge that if the script is confusing its intelligent , I understood each and every part of the story but it was so childishly written Lakshmi is Kushi past-present-future . This script was not intelligent , it was stupid . Lucia script is what you call intelligent .Camera:I think cameraman either was drinking whole time or he is some kid under 10 years , the amount of disturbance of camera you see in the movie was a pain in my eyes . Sometimes I wondered , whether the cameraman shot it using mobile camera .Music:I hated the music , gurukiran you have to retire period.The music was so jarring and irritating that I went home straight and slept in sheer frustration and hope to forget the music and the headache i got by hearing your loud music and nonsensical Lyrics Acting:Upendra overacting can be made out sometimes , he has to give a break to his shouting of dialogues , the actress are there in the movie just for skin show , I don't understand fans tell that Kannada movie like this is needed for Kannada film industry , then why do you get girls who don't know a single word of Kannada . Heroine is very pretty but cannot even voice dub a single word of Kannada I pity our moviesBank janardhan and tennis Krishna talent is wasted , for the first time I hated tennis Krishna for his over acting , the comedy scenes were not funny at all in fact the scene where he removes his shirt was insulting to tennis Krishna .Climax gives us a message and believe it or not is cliché message that you have to live in present.I know lot of people will hate me for this review but I like good movies , good script and I love kannda but movies like this will never bring the industry up and I request fans not to just follow your idols , I see some hope after rangitaranga , lucia kind of movies but the ratio is very imbalanced where such crappy movies are being seen as a master piece .The standards of kannada film industry is so low right now that I am scared the movie industry is doing more harm to our language than anything else

Great movie, Great direction as always. must watch movie for everyone. movie makes you keep guessing. Opening scene is super and Uppi entry scene is excellent. Songs are good and visualization is excellent.

I will give 10/10 for this great movie.

Guru sir has given good music.

Camera work excellent.

after 5 years we are watching Upendra sir direction movie and we were expecting good movie but he gave us great movie.

i wish he will direct one movie every year. Go and watch the movie you will not be disappointed.

Masterpiece to audience - Challenge to the rest

This is a sequel to a 16 year old movie made by Upendra himself. This movie is named after himself, which implies that he is a self-styled egoistic man named NAANU (ME). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upendra_%28film%29

What happens after NAANU realizes the reality of life, is showcased in Uppi2. But mind you, this is not it about Uppi2. Uppi2 is a treat to watch. The screenplay is non-linear zig-zag and xyz.. We call this uppi style. It gets you dizzy. It makes you think. It makes NAANU to become NEENU (YOU) and realize life.

Watch it, and understand it to savor it.

IMPORTANT: Just because you haven't seen the 7 wonders of the world, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. In the same way Nolan, Rajamouli,Tarantino, Murugadoss, ManiRatnam etc etc are not only the best directors. Uppigintha ruchiyilla....!! Namaskara _/\_

Upendra is back with bang as director with intense psychological triller,termed as second part of movie UPENDRA ,blockbuster 15 years .Upendra has given perfect medicine for people who often stuck with dark past and for the those who often go too much into future by preaching the importance of being in present.Medicine has the ingredient called NINNU which deals with all 6 mas-ala(mad-ha Mathsara,Kama ,korda ,lobha and mo-ha) mixture which are controlled by AHAM an evil mindset ,soul of NANNU.Further peace of mind bring Kushi(happiness) and Happiness bring Wealth(Lakshmi) is one inner sense of whole concept.Upendra has comes up with good messages (like Shrama Dalli Duddidhre) acts as special add on . Surely Uppi2 is the movie which acts as medicine used for curing most of psychological diseases man facing today If we can let we cure these diseases - "if there is a will there is certainly a way" Jai Upendra you have earned our respect People please watch it soon

Expectation injured our health this time....but

First of all I my self amazed that I am writing my first review ever...& that too its about "neenu"... Oops sorry " naanu"...oh god...no...I am sorry its about "unknown". Real star ,this time has brought a plot which general audience really can't understand his concept...& he has injured our health too.But he has also repaired it!? He has damaged the brain by introducing a 'hula' that kills the past and future...and finally repaired it with the 'present'.Confused!? Then check out in the theatres urself. Pls don't compare this movie to his previous masterpiece. Definitely this movie is not a routine journey of love,sentiment,mass,..it is adukku mele movie.

Bad. The concept is shown in a very poor way. Not even worth 5 stars

I am an audience of bollywood and Hollywood movies. The kannada movies which i liked were Mungaru Male, Lucia and rangitaranga. Because the movie made sense. UPPI 2 Made no sense in any part of the movie. I am not sure if the rating are paid ratings but this movie doesn't even deserve a 5. Movies like shawshank redemption have a rating of 9, how in a sane world can this movie have 9.3? I pledge to stop referring to IMDb for south Indian movie review. About the movie: A lame girl follows some finds some lame character who tells not to think. Naanu neenu jokes are cliché. Tells us not to think about anything and then he thinks about the "food mahatva". Refernece to penis as a snake was off limits. Overly modded bikes. Lame attempt at RAP music. The actress's costumes were not matching the scene. Too much skin shown. We could easily see an upskirt of the actress in most of the songs, feels like she was hired only for such scenes.

Seldom brood over past.. Live in the present

"Ivanyaro different very very different!" is one the song from this movie,which pretty much sums up director's skills. The movie is a sequel to Upendra which was released in 1999. He has directed after a gap of around 4.5 years(his last movie was Super) and he's back with a blockbuster!One of the qualities of his movies is the difficulty to interpret and convey the story to others. Here's what i thought :

Uppi 2 is all about advising people not to think too much and live in the past/future.Instead concentrate only on the present,as it is the only thing which we can change. Here we find the hero playing the role of Naanu(past Upendra), Neenu(present - who is considered to be a sage) and avnu(future - under cover cop) which is left to audience to interpret as their wish.But only naanu exists in the real word and rest are character's imagination. In order to obtain wealth and become happy,people will find different ways to accomplish. But being happy is not equivalent to being wealthy. Which means,only a person who is happy with his work is considered to be a healthy and wealthy man. If we live thinking about our past/ future we may not achieve anything.What we see is real.that is the ultimate truth!

Actual hero of this movie is the screenplay.The director has put in lots of hard work and thoughts in designing this,although he advices people not to think much.Kristina Akheeva looks gorgeous and has tried her best to act. Parul Yadav has done a cameo in this movie.Cinematography by Ashok kashyap is good. The music director Gurukiran has collaborated with Upendra after 16 years,and has given few catchy numbers.Dialogues are brilliant.

The song which had created lots of controversy-"No excuse Me please" seems to be irrelevant. Over all,it's a good movie and deserves to be watched more than once for its exceptional screenplay.

My rating is 9.5/10.

Expected more from this movie

I workout call this as a movie made by someone who is inspired by upendra or someone who has assisted upendra in his earlier movies. Upendra always conveys a philosophy in a convincing manner, but this movie is confusing and unclear. Casting was not good, especially the female lead. Few comedy scenes felt unnecessary and annoying because of over acting by tennis Krishna. Music was not impressive, felt like guru Kiran was stuck in early 2000's. I want upendra to come back with a movie which he used to make earlier. This one wasn't impressive.

The fans are seeing a mirage

First of all, I must say that I have read all the 'fan theories'. Let us for a second pretend that this movie is actually trying to say something coherent, and that on my end, I have grasped it.

To begin with, the whole 'brilliance' of the movie that everyone here is toting boils down to the way the characters are named - Nanu, Neenu, Lakshmi, Khushi, etc. This is the subject of many many cringe-worthy minutes of confusion-fueled comedy. Fine, let's say it is funny for some people, I have no problem with that. But it is hardly brilliant and it is certainly not allegorical if your only purpose to include the allegory is to cause this confusion.

For people who are asking for everyone to watch this movie twice (the horror!), or more, you should also see how no two characters in this entire movie ever actually converse, and nobody except for Upendra gets a proper set of dialogues. High pitched shouting, useless songs, childish fight scenes and a camera that moves ALL THE TIME make this a hard movie to bear.

Upendra has created a movie in whose universe he is everything. If you keep thinking about the movie, you will see things that are not there, which is probably the only truth to his unending and cringe-worthy philosophy. Please do not say that those who rate this movie low did not understand it. It is a technically weak film made with a lot of arrogance. There is a lot of self-congratulation on one's own toilet-paper philosophy and it only works because of a fan-star ecosystem where everyone j***s each other off.

Pardon me if I hurt anyone's feelings, but if we do not say it like it is, the industry will never come up with quality material.

Firstly hats off to Upendra for such a brain teaser. He is clearly much ahead than we all are. Only he can script a concept like this and has the guts to make it to the screen when there was so much of expectations. Coming to the movie, the story is very simple. Those who are telling there is no story, please go and watch the movie again. The main plot of 'neenu' is the only story in the movie, everything else is the assumptions of the ppl who live in the past and future. He tries to tel it wherever he could. If you haven't understood it yet, then this is not the movie for u. When you are living in the present, 'kushi' comes to u. As for as the performances r concerned, Upendra is brilliant as neenu, but 'naanu' lacks the intensity of the 'Upendra', still it gives you goosebumps wherever naanu appears. Kristina is so lively and fresh to watch. Parul doesn't have much of the screen space. Gurukiran's music is nowhere a match to his own work in 'Upendra'. Yet, he impresses in patches. Background score is worth appreciating. Lastly, director has told everything which is required to understand the movie. There s everything, yet u feel there s nothing. This s where Upendra, the director, wins. This is a must watch for all the movie lovers. And it s after watching Uppi2, am describing Upendra as the Kannada cinema's address to the world. Don't miss this epic one!

Psychological movie ...upendra proves he's best as a director

An experiment movie by upendra with his technique of reverse screenplay.The movie spreads a good message, upendra acting is ultimate, his dialogue turn out to be best . The movie is little confusing with introduction of characters every 10-15 minutes.The movie does not draw any conclusion or convey any message .Viewers need to understand the main concept in the movie. Definitely its difficult to understand by watching once. Has a good message. Costume of the actors is good. Lyrics by upendra is at his best. Screenplay is cool.Overall a must watch movie for all upendra fans and to others as well.A different movie in this new genre.
