- [Dr. Borden interviews Jane Doe for the first time]
- Jane Doe: I didn't even dream last night. I was really hoping I would, you know? I thought maybe it would... I just... Someone did this to me, took away my whole life, and I can't do anything.
- Dr. Borden: I got you a coffee and a tea this morning. Which would you prefer? Well, go ahead. Try them.
- Jane Doe: [Jane takes a drink from the left cup of coffee and then the right cup of tea] Uh, I like this one. This one tastes like grass trimmings.
- Dr. Borden: There you go. Number one, you remember what grass trimmings taste like. And two, you figured out you're a coffee person. You're not helpless. We're defined by our choices. You just don't remember yours. So, keep trying new things. See what your body remembers. Or make new choices. The more you make, the less helpless you'll feel. Even if nothing ever comes back you can still find yourself.
- [Asst. FBI Deputy Director Mayfair tells Agent Weller that they think Jane Doe may have been a Navy SEAL]
- Bethany Mayfair: You were right. The black sqaure was obscuring another tattoo. An eagle holding a trident and anchor. We think she might have been a SEAL.
- Kurt Weller: [Weller looks over to Jane sitting beside him] That'd explain a few things.
- [Agent Weller holds a meeting for the FBI team to solve the questions surrounding Jane Doe]
- Kurt Weller: Who is Jane Doe? And why was she dropped in Times Square for us to find? And why the hell is my name tattooed on her back? All right, Reade, Zapata, you're on my case histories. Now, you find out if anyone that I put away got out of prison recently. I don't recall any similar M.O's, but I could be missing something. As for this Jane Doe, let's try to squeeze some blood out of that stone.
- [a bomb tech approaches the bag on the ground with a radiation meter in an empty Times Square]
- Bomb Tech: No signs of radiation. Commencing manual inspection. Nothing anomalous on the exterior. Okay, I'm gonna feel for wires, see what we're dealing with here.
- Bomb Tech: [the bag moves, frightening the bomb tech to take a step back] Aah! There's something in there!
- [the bag unzips, as an arm reaches out, a female woman in the nude, covered in tattoos, steps out into the lit street]
- Bomb Tech: [the bomb tech screams] Turn around! On your knees! Hands on your head! Turn around! On your knees! Hands on your head! Are you guys seeing this?
- [the unidentified woman turns around, kneels down, with her hands on her head, scared]
- [Asst. FBI Deputy Director Mayfair walks Agent Weller over to view Jane Doe through the glass]
- Bethany Mayfair: Do you recognize her?
- Kurt Weller: No. I've never seen that woman before in my life.
- Bethany Mayfair: [Mayfair knocks on the glass, as Jane Doe turns her back to the agents, looking over her shoulder] Then why is your name tattooed on her back?
- [Agent Patterson reads the results for Jane Doe's tattoos]
- Patterson: All of her tattoos - Are brand new - All of them.
- Bethany Mayfair: What? How new?
- Patterson: Judging by the healing, no more than a few weeks.
- Bethany Mayfair: Her entire body was tattooed all at once? And why would they do that?
- Kurt Weller: It's a treasure map.
- Bethany Mayfair: Come again?
- Kurt Weller: Look at it. There's no 'X' that marks the spot. There's hidden letters, random numbers, map pieces without context or names. It's a puzzle. And the first piece couldn't be clearer.
- Jane Doe: [looks and points at the Chinese characters on the screen] Hey wait... what is this right here, I haven't seen this one yet
- Patterson: Oh, that's because it's behind your left ear, it's only about a inch big and I sent it off...
- [Jane starts to speak in Chinese and the team looks puzzled]
- Kurt Weller: You speak Chinese?
- Jane Doe: That's an address and date... today's date
- [FBI agents Weller, Reade, and Zapata enter into a home of a hostage situation armed in tactical gear]
- Edgar Reade: [Agent Reade holds up the heat sensor to the upstairs floor] Single tango, he's pacing. Three hostages.
- Tasha Zapata: [Agent Zapata looks into the heat sensor] What's that, a cat or a dog?
- Kurt Weller: [Agent Weller hears a cry] It's a baby.
- [Dr. Borden tells Asst. FBI Deputy Director Mayfair and Agent Weller about the drugs in Jane Doe's system]
- Dr. Borden: Are you familiar with the PKM-zeta inhibitor, commonly known as 'ZIP'?
- Bethany Mayfair: Doctor, you and I have very different ideas of what 'commonly' means.
- Dr. Borden: Zeta Interacting Protein. It's an experimental drug being tested with PSD sufferers - Rape victims, soldiers who've seen combat. Used sparingly, it can erase selective memories.
- Bethany Mayfair: And you found traces of it in our girl?
- Dr. Borden: No. Not traces. Her whole system is flooded with it. I - I've never seen anything like it before. It's created a chemically induced state of permanent amnesia. She can't remember who she is, where she came from, nothing... before she crawled out of that bag in Times Square.
- Kurt Weller: So, what does this got to do with me?
- [Dr. Borden explains Jane's memory to Agent Weller]
- Dr. Borden: Her narrative memory has been obliterated. But her procedural memory still seems to be intact.
- Kurt Weller: So, she can walk, talk, understand the world.
- Dr. Borden: Yeah, conceptually, it all seems to be there, but the specifics are cloudy. For instance, she knows what music is but doesn't remember The Beatles.
- Bethany Mayfair: And she'll never get her memory back?
- Dr. Borden: Honestly, we have never had a case like this before. And when I say 'we', I mean the entirety of medical science. So, it's possible that something familiar could trigger her memory. But there is no way to know for sure.
- [Agent Patterson holds down Jane Doe's hand for finger prints]
- Patterson: [Patterson pushes down as Jane shudders] Does that hurt?
- Jane Doe: Yes, they're - They're all a little sore.
- Patterson: Your tattoos?
- Patterson: [Jane nods her head] I'm going to need to image them.
- Jane Doe: All of them?
- [the scene cuts to Jane Doe holding her body open in the nude, being scanned for her tattoos]
- [Jane Doe is questioned by a Polygrapher]
- Polygrapher: Have you ever directly or indirectly been involved with or assisted a terrorist organization?
- Jane Doe: How many more of these are there?
- Polygrapher: Try to limit your answers to 'yes' or 'no'.
- Jane Doe: It's the same answer every time. I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I don't know what's happening to me, and I don't know how else to tell you that.
- Polygrapher: [Jane begins to pull off the wires] Hold on. Wait a second. Miss
- Jane Doe: Miss What? Miss Who? I don't have a name. I let you people poke me, prod me, scan me. I'm done. Okay? I want to speak to someone in charge.
- Polygrapher: Let's just take a deep breath...
- Jane Doe: [Jane yells] I want to speak to someone in charge!
- [Agent Weller meets Jane Doe for the first time in questioning]
- Kurt Weller: I'm Special Agent Kurt Weller. I'm the lead agent on your case.
- Jane Doe: Please tell me you know what's going on. Who am I?
- Kurt Weller: We don't know yet.
- Jane Doe: All of these tests and you don't know anything?
- Kurt Weller: We know that you're telling us the truth. We're certain of that now.
- Jane Doe: Of course I am. Why would I...
- Kurt Weller: Ma'am, there is no match to your prints. Or your DNA. And Facial Recognition did not find you in any of our databases.
- [Agent Weller tells Jane Doe the two of them might have a connection]
- Kurt Weller: Do you recognize me?
- Jane Doe: Why would I - I don't even recognize me.
- Kurt Weller: Dr. Borden believes if you encounter familiar stimuli, it may trigger a memory.
- Jane Doe: Why would you be familiar?
- Kurt Weller: Because my name - Kurt Weller - Is tattooed on your back.
- Jane Doe: What's happening to me?
- Kurt Weller: I don't who you are, ma'am. But maybe, somehow, you knew me.
- Jane Doe: I don't understand any of this.
- Kurt Weller: I know this is overwhelming. Please try. Something may come back to you.
- Kurt Weller: [Jane raises her left hand over Weller's hand, and her right hand over Weller's face, he waits before lowering her hand down] Anything?
- Jane Doe: [Jane looks into Weller's eyes] No.
- [Agent Weller drops Jane Doe off at her safe house]
- Kurt Weller: You should get some sleep, or get something to eat. So, if there's any food you like, tell the security guys and they'll get it for you.
- Jane Doe: I don't - I don't know what I like.
- Kurt Weller: Right, um... I'll get them to get you a bunch of menus, so you can choose.
- Kurt Weller: [Jane looks confused on what to say or do] Good night, ma'am.
- [Jane Doe looks at one of her own tattoos with the other agents, noticing the Chinese characters tattooed behind her left ear]
- Kurt Weller: [Jane begins speaking Chinese] So, you speak Chinese.
- Jane Doe: That's an address and a date. Today's date.
- Kurt Weller: [the scene cuts to Weller and the rest of the team investigating the address] That was right under our nose.
- Edgar Reade: Behind her ear, actually.
- [Agents Weller, Reade, and Zapata kick down Chao's locked apartment room]
- Kurt Weller: [Weller see's the laptop sitting on the desk] Zapata, can you get us on that computer?
- Tasha Zapata: I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit hurt you had to ask me that.
- [Agent Patterson and Asst. FBI Deputy Director Mayfair discuss that Jane Doe may be a Navy SEAL]
- Patterson: How's your Latin?
- Bethany Mayfair: Not great, but I know what this is. 'For God and Country'. It's a Navy SEAL tattoo.
- Patterson: There's never been a female Navy SEAL.
- Bethany Mayfair: Do you think they'd advertise it if there were?
- Patterson: No, but her fingerprints came back clean. If she was Navy, she'd be in our database.
- Bethany Mayfair: Not if she was Special Ops.
- [Jane Doe asks Agent Weller about why she was chosen for this]
- Jane Doe: How do I know how to do all of this? The Chinese, the fighting?
- Kurt Weller: A lot of people know martial arts, but... what I just saw... you don't learn that at a local dojo.
- Jane Doe: So, is that why they chose me? 'Cause of what I can do. But why me?
- Kurt Weller: I don't know yet, Jane.
- [Jane Doe fires a pistol to save Agent Weller's life, at the same time having a flashback]
- Ruggedly Handsome Man: [Jane see's a flashback of herself during a live-fire exercise, as the ruggedly handsome man see's over her training] You missed two. Do it again.
- Jane Doe: [Jane collapses to the floor over finally having her first memory] I remember something.
- [the FBI team discuss what their opinion is of who Jane Doe may be]
- Kurt Weller: Director Mayfair, there is no doubt in my mind she's special forces or intelligence trained. Her skill set is way too specialized. High-level language abilities, hand-to-hand proficiency, off the charts, her marksmanship under pressure. She's professional. She saved my life today.
- Edgar Reade: She also recovered her first memory.
- Bethany Mayfair: What is it?
- Edgar Reade: Running an outdoor shooting course. It's just a fragment, but it lines up with what we all saw today.
- Bethany Mayfair: Who is this woman?
- Kurt Weller: I don't know yet. But what I do know is that one of those tattoos helped save the lives of hundreds of people. And she's covered in them. She might be just the most important resource we ever had, and you risked losing her by letting her out in the field today.
- Bethany Mayfair: She saved your life and triggered her first memory. We're one step closer to finding out who she is and who did this to her. I'd say the risk paid off.
- Kurt Weller: I still don't get why. I mean, if our unknown subject is a good guy who wanted us to stop Chao, why not call it in? You know, why go to the trouble of kidnapping Jane. And covering her in those tattoos?
- Bethany Mayfair: These tattoos are as big of a mystery as Jane Doe is. We have no way of knowing where they'll lead.
- Kurt Weller: Yeah. Well, one thing's for sure. Someone likes playing games. And this is just the beginning.
- [Agent Weller checks on Jane Doe at her safe house]
- Kurt Weller: How you feeling, Jane?
- Jane Doe: Physically, okay. I'm a little banged up, but they said that my arm's gonna be fine. Um, emotionally, I - I, uh... I don't know. How did you know that I could make that shot?
- Kurt Weller: I didn't know. I took a chance on you.
- Jane Doe: None of this feels real.
- Kurt Weller: Jane... you're gonna be okay. I promise.
- Jane Doe: [Jane tears up from being scared] I don't know what that feels like.
- [Weller hugs Jane when he notices a scar on the back of her neck]
- [last lines]
- Ruggedly Handsome Man: [Jane in a flashback] Once I insert this, you will be permanently erased. Everything that you have been will cease to exist.
- Jane Doe: I know. But it's my only choice.
- Jane Doe: Please take him alive. He's the only one that might have answers.
- Kurt Weller: We'll try our best.
