A shocking and creepy penultimate episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Last week found Harry fighting for his life and desperately trying to clear his innocent brothers name but this week things get a whole lot worse for our troubled hero.

After nearly getting killed Harry returns to his flat to find the police swarming all over it and he is arrested after Becker's head is found there.

He is sent to the same prison as his brother Rich after failing to protest his innocence,it seems the whole prison is after both him and Rich for some reason and Harry sets out to find the mysterious Golding who is pulling the strings.

After facing a fight for his and Rich's very survival Harry is stunned to discover the illusive Golding in the very prison he is in but because of who it is Harry realises its not only his and Rich's life under threat but his family too but how can he save them from a prison cell and why do they want his bracelet so much.

This is the episode where the bracelet plot truly kicks into gear as Harry is shocked that he not only finds out Golding's identity but that he was under his nose the entire time and that his family's very lives are on the line, the ending of this episode is really creepy.

James Nesbitt's acting here is better than ever as he knows he is now with the very people who he brings down for a living and that a daily beating is what he may face if he isn't careful even though its Rich who seems to get the brunt of it,fair play to Harry as he stands up to a room full of convicts though his bracelet does stop one beating from happening it can't rescue Rich half the time plus its doesn't help when he finally comes face to face with Golding himself, this scene is chilling and Harry's shouts at seeing who Golding is at last and failing to save Rich from a nasty beating will stay with you for a while trust me,Nesbitt is quite brilliant in this scene alone.

He is supported by a supreme cast including both Amara Karen as partner Suri and Steven Mackintosh as his boss Winter who realise finally that Harry has been framed and both play these two excellently as they finally see someone high up is pulling lots of strings.Another great performer is Eve Best as Harry's estranged wife Anna who herself is trying to unmask Golding but doesn't understand that he has been closer than she thought the whole time and that she and daughter Daisy are in huge danger,Best is a top notch actress and deserves more big roles.

Most of this episode is set in prison as the slow reveal to Golding keeps you gripped before we finally meet the man and like Harry himself it will truly chill your blood when you find out who it is,i myself never expected it to be this person even if now its quite obvious.Seeing Rich get beaten viciously by Golding's men whilst Golding looks out at Harry from the cell will unnerve the viewer and that final scene sets up the finale immensely.Other scenes I loved were Harry discovering the police in his flat along with Becker's head plus the many close calls with the prisoners where his bracelet comes in handy once more as he knows he'd be beaten up badly without it.

This last but one episode sets up the final episode of series one in style with fantastic acting from all especially Nesbitt,a nasty prison setting, the strange bracelet rescuing Harry once more and finally the reveal of Golding at last in a final scene that will blow you away.

Who Is Golding?
claudio_carvalho25 June 2023
Harry is sent to prison for the murder of Becker. He realizes that his brother Rich is threatened all the time and the prisoners and guards belong to Golding. Meanwhile, Anna asks Nikhail Julian to see Harry. Orwell hides evidence from Suri that will release Rich.

"The House Always Wins" is probably the best episode of the First Season of "Lucky Man". The episode is full of action and betrayals, and Suri learns how wrong she was supporting Orwell. Winter is not a corrupt cop, and the most important, the identity of the notorious and powerful Golding is finally disclosed. My vote is eight.
