Woo me
arizonaangels12 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There might be a grand scheme of things but Chandler really seems to be high on the self pity here. Going from a strong character to all woo me and 'I am bad so I'll be bad'. Yeah, yeah, revenge and go kill your dad.. but if you decide to trek through the desert with no supplies don't be surprised when you end up dead. And don't get me started on suddenly being all in love with the woman who was trying to kill you (and use you) just a little while ago. Now she's supposedly on his side and wants to help, but what's the use of being a witch if you can't do anything that's actually useful? Like create water, make it rain, quench your thirst or bring forth those snakes to drink their blood even

Better again but with flaws
supermaggie6 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Luckily season 3 is getting better/back to the old Penny Dradful-level. This episode continues with the daring but inventive splitting of characters which started in episode 4. I think it is a successful artifice, which gives the individual characters more space to develop their story. All in all a brave, good episode, which even almost made me like Hecate (who I did not like before), she has some great/true lines in this episode, however, then came the scene with the horse(s) - I can take a lot gore-/horror-wise, but when it comes to animals, the slightest injury they are shown to have to suffer is too much for me. And I was on the edge waiting for Hecate to make it rain or let water spill from the earth - hey, is she a witch now, and a pretty powerful one (she could master the snakes in this episode, e.g.) and allegedly with a heart for animals or not? Why not save the poor horses? Such a letdown... Hey writers, keep "killing" people (if you have to), but spare the animals, will ya?

Gets Boring from here
jetkot21 December 2017
The previous episode was arty and brilliant. This episode drags at a slow pace and there is nothing much that happens. A poor attempt at showcasing a west side story in between a horror story. This episode does not have Vannessa Ives . She is the main protagonist and hence this show loses the plot. I now know why such a fantastic show was cancelled. They started getting arty and slow. This is not a good sign for a horror show.

Snooze-fest

Warning: Spoilers
Long. Drawn out. Boring. Irrelevant. Way too much Ethan Chandler and "Sir" Malcom -- two of the worst characters in Penny Dreadful. Basically everything related to the Ethan Chandler back story is sleep-inducing. The story arc with Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll is tedious. This show is great because of Eva Green and Billie Piper. Just about everything else is discard-able and forgettable. This episode is a perfect example of the forgettable and discard-able.
