This is what happens when the plot goes awry

This could not have bent all the way down to old timey South-western hospitality! Dumb and downright deadly! What kind of persuasion could possibly cause Rusk and the Marshall to actually Sit down to dinner with Old Man Talbot, Talbot's gunmen behind them? These two saged lawmen, wanting vengeance, would never, never.

Tolerating dividing the lead characters into separate storylines but this pushed the limit. Open man hating and condemnation is not an 1890s reality.

Now Western action? And an illogically motivated one even? Rock bottom?

Warning: Spoilers
While the former two seasons were pure bliss throughout, Penny Dreadful's season 3 has been a roller-coaster ride for me so far in terms of quality/enjoyment. For episode 6 I must sadly revoke some of the praise said about the two previous episodes. After just copying themes from dumb/stale shows like American Horror story - and taking up the stale Tarantino-revenge topic of Lily one more time - how often have we seen clichéd whore turns avenger-stories? The least of them done well. And how much more do we have to take? Wouldn't have expected such lows from such a (formerly) great show like Penny D.. And talking about unexpected, disappointing topics: when did this Gothic-themed show (that's why we are watching!!!!!!!!!!!) turn into a western???? Not pleasant. I do not want to watch the hateful 8, I want to watch Victorian Londonish Gothic monster stories!!! The good part in this episode was the meeting of Vanessa and Catriona Hartdegen, makes lust for more. The subsequent Western BS, however, is putting a massive dampener on this, especially since it is so hard to understand why Ethan is - although his father is not likable, but why is he - sticking to and killing together with a man who was involved in the unnecessary, excessively cruel and mean killing of (his brother and) his innocent little sister - and not only killing, but torturing her to death in the most evil way imaginable?????? To stop repenting what you did when you are a wolf and accepting to have enabled the deadly torture of one's sister/siblings with a conscious mind is a HUGE difference. Looks he has really gone to the bad side - one less reason to like/keep watching the show, I now do have huge doubts how they are going to turn this season back around, I will not give it too many chances anymore!

It's one of those filler episodes

It seems to have gotten so busy that even the major characters seem like they've been sidelined, the thread seems to be lost some what, the first 2 seasons managed to keep it together but this season seems to be wandering off course And this episode is the embodiment of that. I'm still enjoying the series but I'm fearful it'll end with a whimper.
