- A Non-linear plot teasing 'boy meets girl' situation. In two parallel story threads, the same 'boy' meets two separate 'girls'. As the chronology of events is established one turns out as the 'cause' and the other the 'payback'.
- A consensual encounter escalates into a rape situation. Can this happen to anybody and at anywhere? The plot unashamedly attempts to inspect such characters involved. Ricardo is a mama's boy with questionable self worth. He is new in town. Spread over a timeline of few weeks under snowy winter conditions, Ricardo's encounter with two women, Leila and Natie, eventually becomes a tale of cause and effect. The entire chronology of events is established at the very end in this non-linear narrative.
- Is there a start date of being a pervert criminal, or can anyone find themselves be in such a situation where things just gets out of control?
The premise of the plot is based upon few personal observations on generic perceptions emerging in the aftermath of any given gruesome incidents of sexual assault and/or domestic violence. The consensus seems to assume a broader perspective that paints someone in either complete black or white. But who would these characters involved in such grisly incidents be in their alternate so-called normal life?
The focus of the plot is not on the victim, Natie or the violent incidence in particular. Instead, the spotlight primarily is on the perpetrator, Ricardo and the avenger incarnate, Leila. Leila is metaphorically an alter ego for Natie's cause for vengeance.
An initial consensual encounter between Natie and Ricardo quickly escalates once Natie starts having second thoughts about the awkwardness of the situation. She realizes that probably she came too hard for Ricardo to handle; but now when she wants to back off, Ricardo wouldn't have any of it. For Ricardo unrelated humiliating personal experiences culminate at this juncture. He snaps and hits a breaking point. Thus, the incident eventually becomes a statement of sort for his trampled ego.
Ricardo is new in town. In his story thread with Natie, Ricardo is the perpetrator. In his other parallel thread with Leila, Ricardo can be considered as an actual victim. Upon a closer inspection, Leila, has more in common with Ricardo than with Natie. As such, Ricardo is simultaneously a victim with Leila, and a perpetrator when with Natie. Leila sits atop as the top predator in the food chain.
The homeless woman and Ricardo's womanizer landlord, Rod; symbolize the bitter taste that we pick up time to time on our daily run; something that can stay with us and can manifest itself into unaccounted rage. Unbeknownst to us, it might at times tend to manipulate us into taking irrational decisions. Leila and Ricardo, both fall victims to such unrelated bitter experiences that they were forced to carry along with.
The eternal snow provides a sense of dread and despair which on occasions posses the power to overwhelm us. We succumb to our primal instincts.
