As Voiello continues to try to drive Pius XIII out of office, he is met by the resistance of a man who knows that he is a target. A young woman who has had an affair is engaged by the Secretary of State to seduce the Pope. She has her own issues and finds him to care about her and to be a person beyond reproach. She wants to have children but cannot. Pius teaches her to pray. Voiello keeps badgering the Pope to address the Cardinals. Pius is always testing the waters and announces to Voierello that he is going to root out all the homosexuals in the Vatican and drive them out. Of course, we never know if there is a sincerity here or it's another game to see how others will react. We are also introduced to a Shepherd who thinks he has healing powers. He has stigmata and sees the Virgin Mary in a goat!
