It hasn’t been a good week for Liam Neeson. He’s still getting raked over the coals for an interview telling the story of how he fantasized about killing “some black bastard” after a close friend was raped. And now, his latest gritty action film, “Cold Pursuit,” is yielding one of the worst opening weekends in the actor’s box office career.
The Lionsgate film opened with an estimated $10.8 million, the worst opening for any wide release starring Neeson since 2010. That year, he starred alongside Russell Crowe in “The Next Three Days,” which opened to $6.5 million.
To be fair, “Cold Pursuit” wasn’t tracking to be a blockbuster even before his ill-timed interview with London’s The Independent — or a Tuesday “Good Morning America” appearance in which he insisted he’s not a racist.
Prior to this past week, the Lionsgate film was expected by independent trackers to only open to $7-10 million.

Liam Neeson is copping to going on the hunt for revenge decades ago against some "black bastard" ... after a close friend was raped by a black man -- and says the experience taught him a valuable lesson. The actor says he walked the streets for days with a cosh -- a baton-like weapon -- as he looked for an opportunity to kill a random black man. We're told the incident happened more than 40 years ago.

Pro-wrestling fans finally got their answer on where Impact will exist in 2019: The WWE competitor is leaving Pop TV for outdoor network Pursuit Channel.
Pursuit is “the most widely distributed outdoor network and one of the fastest growing channels in the country,” per Impact’s Friday announcement to media. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Impact-owner Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp. has been a “significant minority owner of Pursuit for years,” an Anthem spokeswoman tells TheWrap.
The transition becomes official on Jan. 11, when weekly flagship show “Impact!” starts airing every Friday night at 10/9c on Pursuit. Five days earlier, Impact’s big pay-per-view event “Homecoming” takes place in Nashville, Tennessee.

John Walsh is set to topline a new series for Investigation Discovery. In Pursuit with John Walsh is described as a real-time investigation series that mobilizes ID’s audience to actively engage in the pursuit of justice.
Backed by decades of victim advocacy with a mission stemming from his own personal tragedy, In Pursuit utilizes Walsh’s experience in the field coupled with a call center able to help law enforcement find leads in real time, according to ID. Produced by Zero Point Zero, In Pursuit with John Walsh is set to premiere on Investigation Discovery in first quarter, 2019.
In addition, Discovery Channel said today it has ordered Undercover Billionaire, a new series that taps the expertise of a self-made mogul to see if it’s possible to create a million-dollar company in just 90 days with just a few dollars in his pocket.
The mogul, whose true identity will remain anonymous,...

With Pursuit, writer/director Paul Mercier takes Irish folklore, specifically The Pursuit of Diarmuid and Grainne, and gives it a contemporary spin by taking all the elements of those fanciful stories and building a gangster movie around them. Fionn McCool (Liam Cunningham) is now the aging lieutenant in the gang of Mr. King (Owen Roe), marked for death because he is fast outliving his usefulness. As means of preserving his place by his boss' side, a marriage is arranged between Fionn and King’s much younger daughter, Grannie (Ruth Bradley), but Grannie has other ideas. Wanting to get as far away from her family and new husband as possible, she forces Fionn’s bodyguard Diarmuid (Barry Ward) to run away with her, putting a price on both their heads. Despite the contemporary setting, Pursuit leans quite heavily on the stories that inspired it, with the mythology seeping into every aspect of the story,...
