Along with the Super Bowl XLIX (2015), this is the most watched TV program in U.S. history with 118.5 million viewers breaking the previous record of 115.3 set for the Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show (2014) with Bruno Mars.
To prep for the performance, Katy Perry studied Super Bowl's recent halftime shows, with extra attention on Beyoncé in 2013 and Madonna in 2012. During an interview for Billboard magazine, Perry revealed she met with previous year's performer Bruno Mars seeking for advice.
Dolly Parton was invited by Katy Perry to be a part of the show but couldn't accept due to her husband's health conditions at the time.
