Farewell Ramsay St

A fitting end to 37 years. My thing is "where do the cast go from here"

Especially Jackie Woodburne who has been the heart and soul of the show so many years. I wish everyone who worked on this all the best.

This might be "a show" to some but it really is so much more.

The greatest finale to a TV show ever.

Seriously. I'm a huge snob when it comes to telly and film (just look at my appallingly arrogant reviews). I never thought The Office (UK) would be bettered for emotional satisfaction as a finale. And this is a soap. From Australia.

But my GOD. It was EVERYTHING ANYONE who's ever seen Neighbours COULD EVER WANT IT TO BE.

Funny. Moving. Extremely Satisfying. And OUTRAGEOUS returning cast members. Seriously - what other soap in the world could draw back Guy Pearce and Margot Robbie?! Goes to show just how universally adored this show is, and I for one am gutted to see it ending - but what a SEND OFF!

Seriously, let's get this as close to 10/10 as we can - because that's what it deserves. Bravo to everyone involved, old and new.

I love and will always love Neighbours

This is a hard review to write.

I love 'Neighbours', it's been with me all my life, so to see it go was heart-breaking in itself. Channel 5 will not be forgiven by many.

This was the perfect way to say goodbye to the show, with the perfect blend (pun very much intended) of legendary characters getting their moment just as much as the current regulars (whose contribution the media seems to have very much underplayed). We also, very much like the 25th Anniversary episode, get some very welcome cameos.

The final scenes are beautifully written, and celebrate just how special this show was. It moved me, it made me laugh - everything 'Neighbours' has done for 37 years.

I will miss 'Neighbours' terribly, but the impact it has had on my life will remain forever.

The End

Warning: Spoilers
Neighbours was launched in Britain in the autumn of 1986 when the BBC started daytime television.

They decided not to show daytime American soaps. Instead they opted to buy in a soap that was shown primetime in Australia.

It was in the summer of 1987 Neighbours began to get more people watching. Young people in school and college got into it when they were meant to be revising for their exams.

Sensing that they had something big in their schedules. The BBC switched one of the repeats to the early evening and ratings hit jackpot.

I was one of the young people who got into Neighbours in the early years.

My wife has religiously watched every episode for 36 years. I lapsed some decades ago.

So here we are watching the final run of Neighbours and the return of some old faces not seen since the late 1980s.

There were certainly tears in out household, well the other half cried.

To be fair it was a wonderful way to end as Susan Kennedy reflects all that has happened in Ramsay Street.

The party was for Toadie's wedding with Melanie (another character from the early days.)

The real pull was the return of Shane Ramsey and Mike Young for the final episodes. Shane has made money from cryptocurrency. Mike rekindles his romance with plain Jane.

Kylie and Jason make a cameo but it was clear they turned up on a separate day for their filming. Hence the balcony view.

Well farewell Neighbours. For many you became good friends for years.

However it turned out this was not quiet the end.
