scary as hell

Warning: Spoilers
In "The Inauguration" from 2016, the United States has just elected its first Jewish President, Michael Liebman (Michael Albala).

He has a speech to give to his LA supporters, but before that, he is invited to meet with two ex-NSA operatives now in the public sector men who tell it like it is. He has no real power. Everything is decided by the people these men represent, who also helped get him elected. The allude to the fact that they were responsible for JFK's death ("back, and to the left") and try to blackmail him with an involvement with the Columbo family that did not happen.

It's sobering for Liebman, especially when they get rough with him.

Either he does what they tell him or they'll ruin his Presidency. Do what they want and he can have full terms and a powerful legacy.

Finally he asks, what power does he have? Well, the Rose Garden, getting any food he wants, etc. Finally he says he has a speech to give and leaves. But he orders his staff to get whatever information they can on the two men.

There it ends - or does it begin? I have no idea if this is going to continue or not, but this powerful men behind the scenes deal is what most people believe goes on.

What definitely goes on is that once a President gets in, he can't do everything he promised even if he's a good man and wants to. There are too many special interests and compromises and deals to cope with. And it's especially hard when, as what happened with Obama, the ruling side sits down and decides to block every single thing he wants.

Interesting short film where you feel the tension and threats throughout. And you see that poor President Liebman is just out of his element. Will he remain that way? Who knows?
