The idea of a feral child raised by wolves is dismissed by some of the characters, but there have in fact been many documented cases, such as orphans raised by wolves in Hesse, Germany, in the 14th century. Six-year-old Dina Sanichar was discovered among wolves in a cave in Sikandra (near Agra) in Uttar Pradesh, India in 1872, and although he became civilized, he never mastered speech. Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja (b. 1946) lived with wolves in the forest, from age 12 until he was rescued at age 19. He had learned to speak before his abusive human guardian died, and after his return to civilization he became an actor.
This episode takes place in 1904.
