Leia makes everything better

Plot; Senator Leia Organa arranges to deliver much needed supply ships to the Alliance, but she must also publicly distance herself, and Alderaan, from the Rebel movement.

Picking up right where the previous episode left off, "A Princess On Lothal" gets back to basics, but ups the ante because the Princess in question is none other than Leia Organa (Voiced here by Julie Dolan, who does a solid job of capturing a young Carrie Fisher)! It's a pretty by the numbers episode on the margins, but it's all in the execution, and after the more somber "Legacy", this delivers a fun bit of rebellious froth.

A Princess on Lothal

This was an episode that had a lot of potential, and also mostly lived up to it. It definitely served as a nice follow-up to "Legacy," and the problems that Ezra went through carried over into the emotional pull of this episode. It was nice to have Princess Leia in here as another part of that storyline, and to help Ezra find a little more sense in everything that they were doing. The premise of the episode is where I found it a little lacking. Not that it didn't have a lot of stakes, but it never felt like the focus was on the right thing. Not only did they have the Princess Leia character in the episode, but the focus was also partly on Ryder Azadi, a great new character who I can't wait to see more of, and his problems. So I felt like it lacked a little focus, but as usual it had some nice character development, and some great visuals. I like the small cameos and how they fit into the narrative, as long as they are done in episodes with this level of quality, and not others like with Lando and Hondo. This season is shaping up to become quite a ride and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Ambassador from Alderaan

With the title of the episode and early mention of Alderaan it is not a huge surprise that the Princess turns out to be Leia. It is nice to see her and fun to have her interact with the crew from Rebels.

The story is enjoyable with some nice action and dialogue. We see Ezra suffering after discovering his parents were killed and it is good that this is used well as emotional depth rather than being quickly forgotten.

There are a couple of dodgy moments in the action like Kanan slicing legs off Imperial walkers as easily as if they are branches on a tree which is rather silly and another walker getting knocked over by the jet from an engine which is also a little bit odd.

The rest is good stuff.

My rating: 7.5/10.

THEE princess on Lothal

I liked it.

It was legitimately nice seeing Leia again. The voice actress captured Carrie Fisher's voice pretty well, but it was also nice to see Leia sort of scheming like she does best while also being just a tad out of her league. Little things like her underestimating the empire makes all the difference!

Overall, this was a pretty solid companion piece to the previous episode. It's essentially just the Rebels going back to the basics (get some stuff that isn't ours and let's leave) but Ezra's grief, as well as Clancy Brown's new character and obviously Leia, made for some great entertainment.

Solid.
