Danny Glover why.
tpsn7 October 2018
This film - seriously, not sure who comes up with these plots?! It was just very poor all around. I don't recommend this as I can see others haven't either. Save your money.

I sort of wish I could "unwatch" this movie
lemon_magic16 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
"DarkWeb" is the sort of pointless, convoluted, nihilistic mess that makes you wonder if maybe the invention of film as a story telling medium was a bad idea.

OK, it's not that bad. But it misses that mark by not very much.

My reaction to this film is the same as Roger Ebert's when he had to review movies like "Chaos" before he passed away from this mortal coil: Why was this film made? What was the point of rubbing our noses in all this grim heartlessness and sadism? Were the film makers trying remind us that there are human monsters out there? We KNEW that.

Add some pretty amateurish acting and dubbing here and there; massive overuse of a few digital CGI techniques that are apparently supposed to remind us that, hey, all the participants are on camera, and we are the voyeurs; individual character actions and decisions that make no sense in context; and a gratuitously mean stinger ending that both robs audience of any sense of release AND goes on two minutes too long...and you've got a turd of a screenplay that you don't need to see.

Oh, yeah, Danny Glover is in this. But he's a talking head appearing on a TV screen. And even as a talking head, he's not very good (I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I doubt any actor could have done well under the circumstances.) And Oliver Grunier is also in this; he's OK, given that 90% of his role is glowering and looking grim and swearing revenge.(Again, I think he did what he could with his part and the role).

I gave this three stars in spite of my reaction to it, because: the movie begins with a burst of energy as a para-military convoy rolls across deserted countryside accompanied by urgent orchestra music on the soundtrack; because I like Oliver Grunier and wish he could have been given more to do; because the young blonde woman who is the object of the hunt is quite statuesque and striking and the camera loves her; and because I think the film makers made the film they wanted to make, and even if I hate it, I recognize that a lot of work went into it.

But don't waste your time with this one unless it's late at night and you're fairly drunk and in a really weird, hate-the-world mood.

Maybe 2 good minutes.
XpocalypseSurvival21 March 2021
Movie opens following a vehicle column comprised of a tank, 2 armored vehicles, and an SUV. Along the way they blow up a NATO tank, which nobody in NATO seems to mind, and then somehow sneak up on a group of soldiers who charge into open ground and kneel to face off against the tank. Obviously they are slaughtered which is why no one in the universe would ever do that...all of this so they can kidnap an unarmed farmgirl that only required one person with a pistol? This sort of complete lack of sense is pretty much what you get for the whole film.

The only scenes that were worthwhile was one scene of the tank driving over a car and the slow motion scene of the girl changing with the nice backlit window and sudden, mysterious steam all around her. Honestly, I think that scene was the only reason they made the movie, because it seemed like the only scene they put any thought into.

And then there is Danny Glover, whose speaking scenes at least had some modicum of gravitas, but later he has an embarrassing scene of his blowing-a-gasket routine that he seems to do in every movie: arms flapping all a round, spittle streams everywhere...

The rest of the movie is a bunch of people randomly running through the wilderness, but all somehow constantly running into each other to have a few moments of bad dialog or siezure-inducing camera-shake fight scenes. In a couple of instances, the only way someone could have made it where they did is if they had transporter technology.

One could go on for awhile mentioning everything which makes no sense in this movie - the sniper with ghillie suit and bright red lipstick, the guys shrugging off arrows through the chest and leg, what the point of the masks where considering they were off as often as they were on - but I think the point is made.

Also, the music was terrible.

Setting was good.

Horrible, just horrible

Danny Glover shame on you. He never was a great actor, or even a good one, but when you have name recognition do yourself a favor and bow out gracefully. I seriously do not know where to start except I'll try and be concise: Cinematography: F ; Script: F ; Acting: not a grade low enough! If the only thing I got from this, other then time I will never get back, is watching DGlover act like a raving lunatic then please let me be the only human who suffered. OK? Ut oh. Well in order for my review to be published it has to be 10 lines so I will just say the person hired for costumes in this film shouldn't ever work in film again. I believe the actors were told to wear their own clothes. I don't write many reviews but when I want to help another movie watcher from the horror of watching a terrible movie then I'll most certainly write one.

There is no word in the English language to describe how awful this was
Worldstone25 May 2017
This makes the acting in The Room look Oscar-worthy. This makes the writing in Batman & Robin look like an allegorical novel. The sound dubbing could have been done better by brain-dead elementary school kids. Uwe Boll could have made a better movie with $10 and a crappy camera.

This is actually quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. See, at least with movies like The Room, Troll 2, and Manos: The Hands of Fate, you can still enjoy those despite it's obvious flaws. Those are so bad they make you laugh. This isn't even that. This is just a 90 minute torture test for your brain.

Because asides from the obvious painful flaws it has (writing, acting, horrible sound dubbing). During the movie you will have multiple questions to ask yourself such as "How did this have a budget of $1,000,000?" "What did they have to threat Danny Glover with in order to sign up for this abomination?".

Please, for the love of god, if you love your brain do not watch this foul, putrid waste of space on our plane of existence.

I promise you that if you look hard enough, there are porn movies out there 100x better than this.

Step away from the play button ..... no really do!!
stuart-0987431 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well I have watched a few terrible movies in my life but this truly is up there with the worst of them, you have it all:

Poor or next to no real script, actors who seem unsure who's line it is next so just look menacing at each other, very poorly lip synced dialogue, at least I hope it was lip syncing otherwise get these guys to a speech therapist!

The films premise while not original (bad rich men hunt poor farmer girl for sport and money) could have worked much better than it did, script writers day off I guess; fight scenes that were very poorly choreographed and seem to be cut and sliced by the director in quite a random fashion.

There is a lot of running about in the forest, baddies turning on each other, main character whilst very pleasing to the eye seemed to have no other purpose than run, fall down, run again, hide fall down etc etc.

The Dark Web part is misleading as there really is no internet thread through the film really, other than they recruit the baddies from the dark web, and it's splashed all over the to monitors as a screen saver in the control room.

And then we come to Danny Glover, some like me might expect any film he is in to be at least half decent, think again, even he couldn't do anything with this script, not that you saw much of him anyway, he made occasional appearances via TV link and generally made it clear how unhappy he was at the lack of innocents being slain. The ending of the film, or almost end, sees him on the TV screen having some sort of fit, presumably having just received a copy of the script and realising what a total pile of @*%! This film was.

Spoiler alert!!!

The ending truly sucks, lead character having escaped all that had gone on gets run over by a car and then bundled in the boot, car drives of and role credits!

Is she dead, who are these guys in the car, they were shooting at thegirl, hunters and anyone else earlier on the film, but their purpose never truly explained?

So in summary, if it was so bad why did I watch it to the end?

Honestly, I don't know, perhaps I thought at some point it would all make sense, or just improve a little maybe, in any case it was none of the above and frankly 1 star is too generous but they don't provide negative points.

Well I have done my good deed for the day, you have been warned, I watched this film so you wouldn't have to.

Not as bad as the rating suggests
gjenevieve19 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It is not as bad as the reviews that I read nor the overall rating it has. I almost didn't watch the movie at all after reading the reviews. I decided to go ahead and watch it anyway, figuring that if it really was as awful as everyone said, I could always just not finish it.

Good points: 1) The movie runs at a pretty good pace. I was rather surprised by that. I was expecting it to be slow and labored. 2) Not a bad premise. The idea behind a bunch of sick people gathering together to hunt down a person in order to make money and other sickos making a movie of the ordeal to put on the darkweb for profit is a good one. 3) Some of the story lines are not that bad. 4) It is not an unbelievable premise. I can easily see that there would be people out there that would do this kind of thing. 5) Danny Glover is in it. 6) There were some good fight scenes. 7) There were a couple of points that were a bit tense. I found myself holding my breath. 8) Some interesting plot twists.

Bad points: 1) There is often a lack of syncing with what people say and their mouths. It does not always match. It isn't the worst syncing I have ever seen and it isn't so bad as to be awful to watch. 2) The acting is not the best. It also, however, is not the worst. I have definitely seen some movies that had way worse acting. 3) There are some plot holes that make some of the movie not quite as believable as it should have been. I added 3 plot holes to the goofs section and labeled them as spoilers. 4) The two women that were part of the hunting party were not that believable. I would have written their characters much differently. 5) Danny Glover's part is not well written and he does not have a prominent enough role. 6) I do not understand who some of the people were, especially the ones at the end of the movie. 7) The ending did not really make sense as I did not know who the people were at the end of the movie.

A terrible film and a waste of time
al_kane29 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A total waste of time. I felt sorry for the cast. Why and how this film ever got made is beyond reason. Don't bother renting this turkey.

SPOILER ALERT: The brother dies and the lead blonde woman is run over by a truck. That's how it ends. The lead woman doesn't prevail. The bad guys win. Very unsatisfying ending.

Unwatchable and nauseating.

Words cannot describe how bad this movie is. The acting, the storyline, just everything. It should have been burned. Danny Glover must have been blackmailed into appearing in this piece of crap.

YOU THOUGHT IT WAS A DUBBED IN ENGLISH MOVIE?
trevegan29 May 2018
Terrible acting, pointless script, (Or did they just make it up as they went?) The dubbing is unbelievably terrible, and I suspect by other people too! For instance, there's a scene where two black men are talking, and both of them have white men's voices! It was like watching, "Monkey Magic", or, "The Flashing Blade" dubbed into English by underpaid voice actors!

I only watched half the movie as I would have kicked the television in, and sent the producers of this movie the bill, had I watched its entirity! I'd highly recommend not bothering. I only saw it on Netflix, and had to strangle myself to get as far as I did!

Good quality video, just bad acting....
readyyou5 May 2016
Dark Web isn't a terrible film, but it's not all that interesting. Some of the action scenes were pretty cool and I'll even go so far as to say Danny Glover gets some cool points for his small role. Other than that The cinematography is pretty cool : good quality video, just bad acting... While it might not be a terrible film, Dark Web still isn't good a good one. First off why even call it "Dark Web" since the film doesn't have anything to do with it? Sure they name drop it throughout (the monitors even flash the name "Dark Web"), but they could have called this film anything but that. There's a title out in France for this film called "Hunting Games", but that sounds too close to "The Hunger Games" (I honestly didn't care for that film either – Battle Royale people). Then there's the lack of suspense or any kind of tension; you'd think a chick being hunted would get the excitement flowing, but it's a slow...

I love this piece of junk
searchanddestroy-19 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Yes I love this crap - because it's a crap of course - I love it for the simple Reason that in this stupid and senseless story, good guys are not so different from the bad guys. And most of all, SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS everybody dies at the end. No happy endings. THAT'S WHY I LOVE THIS FILM. I apreciated the couple, sub characters, who seemd to be sympathetic, but who were eventualy not so good after all. And every time Danny glover appeared on screen I laughed.

I'm getting too old for this S**T
hansepans28 March 2016
There is such a thing as self-respect and self-esteem. In my humble opinion Danny Glover has lost both in this movie. To use his own quote from the Lethal Weapon series: "I'm getting too old for this s**t". And yes Danny, you are, I can only guess why you chose to do this movie, but you can't be that desperate for money...

I have to agree with other reviewers: the acting is amateuristic at best and even low budget is no excuse for the final result.

The fight scenes are laughable and make no sense. If the object the game is to kill someone, then kill someone. One of the adverts said something like 'The hunting game' meets 'Hostel'. Well, if that was the objective they failed miserably. Both of those films have way more depth, far better acting and cinematography is infinitely better. So in short, this film is in no respect whatsoever qualifying for a good rating. My score would be a 2 out of 10 and that is just for the one shot in the beginning of the movie that I did like.

Horrible film, terrible acting!
deltawing-774179 April 2016
I can't believe haw bad this movie is, the acting is simply terrible, I guess the whole movie had a budget of 20.000 $ and they had to finish it in a week. The only good thing in the movie is the lead actress Petra Silander because of her looks, everything else (her acting too) is stunningly terrible. The story is thousand times seen cliché and the fighting scenes are bad to mediocre. An example how a movie should not be made.

It should have been some combination of "Hunger games" and "Hostel", or thriller with a horror elements but fails miserably. I guess the director knowing that the script is disaster rented his friends for free so the movie can be filmed. You will feel sorry for your time.

utterly nonsense, stupid.
pareshrdoshi-1478813 February 2016
Utterly nonsense, stupid. it has wasted my valuable 1 hour (as i just kept forwarding on my laptop) on this planet earth. No character development, acting wooden and worse than k. g. students. very clichéd story. No link between the scene. Every scene is illogical. and climax ? seriously ? Worst English movie I have seen in my life.

Don't even waste your time in seeing the promos/trailer of the movie. Don't even waste your time in reading the name of the movie. There is nothing 'Dark', no 'web' and just nothing like "darkweb". The movie's name could have been "ABCD" still it would have been same. This movie is neither thriller nor action movie, it just fits in one genre : 'wastage'. I just want to give negative rating to this movie.

Don't even think about watching this movie.

I am sure, producers will have to pay money to people who go for watching this movie.

One thing came into my mind : If i am pained by watching this movie so much, how much director would have suffered while making this movie ?

Arguably the worst film I've ever seen.
tamalesjesus10 February 2016
This film attempted to introduce an environment where men hunt women for sport. There were terrible attempts at twists and there's virtually no depth in any character.

Never mind that this film was extremely low budget. The acting is horrendous, sound editing and dubbing of voices is awful. The action sequences are cut so much that you only see a before and after, due to lack of effects and cinematography.

If you still insist on watching, be ready for an extremely low budget action/sci-fi that is boring, cheesy and unfulfilling in nearly every possible aspect.

As bad as you could hope for
andy-217419 February 2016
As has been noted by the other reviews of this movie, it's no great shakes. For me though, it hits close to the "so bad it's good" mark. The fact that the makers of the film seemed to take it seriously while at the same time falling so short kept me watching. I think the film makers set the bar pretty low when they put a typo in the opening credits. "With the Exceptionnal Participation of Danny Glover". That's not me putting two n's in exceptional. That's me quoting the movie credits.

Sadly you can bet that any movie Danny Glover is in these days will be low budget, but this one is just bad enough to have a laugh at or perhaps with... after all to quote another line from the dialogue "I was beginning to think this movie would never end"

Cheese
logismum23 March 2016
So bad it is almost good, so cheesy it could almost make a grilled sammich. few cool twists along the way, once you have accepted it is cheese that is. A name used towards the end is one of the funniest things I have seen in a film lately. The film has real potential, it is not an unusual concept but a few contributing factors could have made it deserve a few more stars.

I cant rate it at the moment, I am not sure why not, but if I could I would go with a 4. I am not sure if it was all lip synced but I am sure that some peoples voices do not match their lips as they move, which evidently makes it pretty humorous, I am sure Action Man was hiding in someones skin!

Good for a bad laugh, bad for a good laugh.
