Sex & Nudity

  • Not many sex scenes are actually shown, but are talked about by the people who committed them. Female nudity isn't shown much. Male graphic nudity is shown in a couple episodes.
  • Several sex scenes throughout the series' run. Some graphic, some tamer. There's also very frequent graphic sexual discussion, including using the f-word in a sexual context and using crude and technical terms to describe sexual acts (both criminal acts and non-criminal acts), including necrophilia, lust murder, incest, and necrophilic incest. Crude sexual dialogue is also said during sex scenes.
  • Incarcerated criminals describe sexual crimes in detail
  • There is a sexual intercourse scene. Male buttocks and female breasts are shown for a few seconds.
  • Contains a lot of very disturbing and strong language about sexual actions, most of it done and spoken by sex offenders.
  • Necrophiliacs described in detail sexual things they did with corpses
  • Some of the profanity is used in sexual context
  • Season 2: No female nudity throughout entire season. Few intimate scenes between two female lovers, some kissing, nothing much else. Final episode contains male nudity, buttocks only, scene is non-sexual.
  • The sex scenes are not too common, but there are more than two sex scenes in the show, as a previous entry once stated.
  • First episode had Male nudity from afar you can't really see anything that bad.
  • Pretty much every sexual topic is referenced in the show, including oral, anal, intercourse, rape, incest, necrophilia, perversions, etc. mostly referring to sexual crimes.
  • Keep in mind that the sexual content is fairly infrequent, and the sexual dialogue is mostly about crimes that perverted criminals committed. Most visual sexual scenes aren't very graphic, and there are only a few graphic scenes in the show.
  • Man is seen showering through a glass, partial nudity, but nothing explicit

Violence & Gore

  • Several violent acts toward animals are discussed and briefly seen throughout the series. 2 dogs are killed and their corpses are briefly shown through photographs. We see one more briefly than the other, but both have their throats slit and blood pooled around them. A bird with a broken wing is thrown into a fan and killed.
  • Show has very little onscreen violent acts being committed. Besides a few instances all the violence is either referenced in dialogue, seen in aftermath, or seen through images. Though majority of the violence isn't seen it still manages to be an INCREDIBLY disturbing show with plenty of dark subject matter, revolving around serial killers and sexual crimes against people of all age.
  • Extremely violent acts are described in detail by serial killers during interviews. Many being sexually motivated.
  • Season two mostly revolves around child murders. Murdered children are seen onscreen.

Profanity

  • Lots of profanity including "shit", "fuck", "asshole", and homophobic slurs such as "faggot"
  • "Cunt" is used a couple of times in a interview and is later referenced in transcripts and dialogue
  • In season 2 the word, "nigger" is used infrequently. One of the instances is said by a KKK member.
  • Some of the profanity is used in sexual context
  • Persistent use of strong language
  • Severe profanity- pretty much every word you can think of is frequently used in the show. There is a list of words in the show that is "associated with criminal behavior"; including words that reference sexual acts, racial and homophobic slurs, and general bad words.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters are seen smoking almost constantly. One character takes recreational drugs to help improve their focus.
  • Moderate drug use- lots of drinking and smoking, pot use using bongs, and mentioning of harder drugs/possible use of them.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Series is about the first FBI agents to use psychological profiling to catch rapists and serial killers, so there are many scenes depicting these types of crimes in progress and the aftermath. Scenes include graphic violence as well as discussion of violence and rape.
  • Most episodes show very disturbing images of murdered people and children. Some bodies are mutilated. Children are lying in a puddle of blood. Sometimes we see them on FBI pictures with bloody wounds.
  • The pre-credits of every episode are containing disturbing flashes of (rotting) dead corpses. Close-ups of eyes, teeth, hands and other body parts and some jump scare sound effects.
  • Many of the serial killers can be very intimidating. The way many of them casually discuss the sickening details of their murders without any remorse can be quite disturbing and frightening.
  • Season 2 revolves around the murders of almost all children. Dead bodies of children are seen.
  • Mindhunter is known as a very disturbing and frightening show. It contains dark subject matter varying from, child murder, suicide, sexual assault of all ages, graphic violence and the acts of serial killers.
