As Jake and Sadie run towards the book depository, they pass the "three tramps," the "babushka lady" and the "umbrella man," three of the most famous mysteries surrounding the JFK assassination.
Among the characters Jake runs into on the way to Dealey Plaza is Randall Flagg, a version of whom is in many of Stephen King's stories. He is noticeable by his long hair and denim jacket.
When Jake is being told about his possible death sentence, "Old Sparky" is mentioned. "Old Sparky" is the name of the electric chair in Stephen King's novel The Green Mile and its film adaptation, The Green Mile (1999), and the name of the electric chair that was in use in 1963 on Death Row in Huntsville, Texas, where Jake presumably would have been sent.
The references to "redrum" and Captain Trips are not present in the original novel.
The Dallas bus station is, in reality, Hamilton GO station in Ontario, Canada.
