Not since "Sherman's March to the Sea" has the South choked as much . . .
tadpole-596-9182566 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
. . . as they did on SUPER BOWL $UNDAY LI, in the guise of the Atlanta Falcons. As GONE WITH THE WIND so painstakingly documents, Gen. Sherman unmasked Atlanta as being a total cupcake pushover; a toothless paper tiger. New England's Patriots discovered that the Tiny "a" (otherwise known as Loserville, due to a titles-per-major-pro-sport-franchise-year rate of less than 1%!!) STILL is reeling from Sherman's beat down even 150-plus years after the fact. The Falcons played less like the birds of prey for which they are named and more like Declawed house cats (feel free to replace "house cats" with the feline synonym starting with the letter "P" and featuring a trio of Esses, plus the vowels "U," "I," and "E"). Just to make for a more entertaining TV program, the Patriots goofed around for the majority of the game, with their QB Tom Brady committing an unprecedented DOUBLE "Pick-Six" by whiffing on an easy tackle after throwing the pigskin directly to a Falcon player. However, after spotting their grossly-overrated opponent a 25-point "insurmountable" blow-out lead, Michigan Man Brady banged Atlanta's "defense" for an easy 31 tallies, slipping through it like a Spork carving margarine, meeting less resistance than he'd experience with his Super Model Spouse in her boudoir. Atlanta's porous defensive line proved no more effective at stopping the one-time Wolverine star than a fisherman would be in bailing out his sinking rowboat with his net. The family in the Skittles ad proved to be much more adept at sports than the hapless Atlanta Hatchlings. Scarlett O'Hara may have thought that "Tomorrow is another Day," but few Americans will see many Tomorrows of any consequence for Atlanta and its fans.

One of the Greatest Ever SB's of All Time
ShelbyTMItchell2 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is in my top five if not at the top. Down 28-3 never at all count the Patriots nor that of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick out. Both find ways to win. Falcons needed to finish and not had gotten overconfident. Wining in the first OT game in the NFL Super Bowl in where nearly it has in some games gotten close to OT. Patriots win 34-28 as really despite people like yours truly getting sick and tired of the Patriots winning the big game or being there, make no mistake of Brady's and Belichick's brillance. It also had the best halftime show in Lady Gaga though no fan of hers but she really outdid herself as in SB 50 she performed the National Antehm before. Really the best SB EVER! Despite wanting Falcons to win.

Never Count Out Belichick and Brady
shelbythuylinh13 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Really that you should never count out the Pats. And really down 28-3 in the first half. After a great halftime performance by Lady Gaga despite not being no fan of hers.

Still the OT in the very first time there. In the 51 year Super Bowl history there. As Falcons really seemed tired in the fourth quarter. Patriots seized on that.

Falcons had penalties that doomed them.

Glad to see George HW and Barbara Bush in the coin toss one of the very last appearances before their passing in 2018 there. Really sentimental there.

We are up by 25 with no way the Patriots can come back, so let's pretend like this is Madden NFL 17
big-balls-hd24 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Falcons have never won a Super Bowl up to this point, so when they got to a 28-3 lead against the Patriots, it gave them quite a bit of hope. Too much in fact, because then they just sorta let the game slip away and after some Brady magic, its 28-28, going into over time. Well, as long as you win in overtime, its all fine. You don't. Well, you just blew the biggest lead in the Super Bowl ever and one of the biggest leads blown in NFL history. And to add insult to injury, you slowly slumped and turned from a 11-5 NFC Champion to a 4-12 tank while you watch Brady win another Super Bowl in a snoozefest 2 years later. No coming back from here, get ready for a ride with failure after failure.

As a Patriots fan, this game rocks!!
SHB_731 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Growing up a Patriots fan the 20 year dynasty was a fun era to be a part of. This Super Bowl will always be my favorite of the 6 championships the team won. There was a lot of drama during the season leading up to the game as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Quarterback Tom Brady the first four games of the season for the sham deflategate scandal. When the Patriots made the Super Bowl for Pats fans it was about revenge against Goodell by having him hand the Lombardi to Bob Kraft. But the game didn't start good for the Patriots as the Atlanta Falcons scored 21 straight points going into Halftime leading 21-3. The only good thing to watch at the time was Lady Gaga's halftime show. Early in the 3rd Quarter the Falcons scored a touchdown to make it 28-3 (That score would become a meme that haunts Falcons to this day) The Patriots would mount an incredible comeback in the second half to force the game into the first overtime in Super Bowl history which the Patriots would win 🏆 the game on an opening drive touchdown (Thank God Matthew Slater called heads during the overtime coin toss) it was one of the greatest Super Bowl games I ever witnessed and will go down as the greatest comeback in the history of the Super Bowl. Pats Nation for life!!
