It's not a shot for shot remake, but there's definitely a lot of homage

Warning: Spoilers
This consists of interviews with the cast and crew, all of whom have something compelling to add within their area of expertise(and there is a very clear love of what they're working on), clips from the movie, behind-the-scenes footage, and incomplete effects shots.

It's 25 and a half minutes long. This is found on the 3D Blu-Ray release(which, for those wondering, since not everyone can play that version, does come with a 2D disc) of Terminator: Genisys. It spoils a lot of the film, and so will this review, so that I can go into more detail.

They talk about how great it is to use downtown New Orleans as stand-in for 80's LA. Finding a great combination of sets and practical locations in and around town. They actually did flip that truck in the future war scene, which is the biggest of its kind in the entire franchise. Everybody, aged early 20s to 60, grinning from one ear to the other, when Arnie was on set. Finding Brett Azar who stands in for the original version of the Governator in the 1984 scenes. A monsoon cost them a day of shooting at the power station where the T-1000 catches up to them. Byung-Hun Lee was incredibly effective. The concept and design of the time machine the two leads use. The intensity of Jason Clarke(who does a great job of explaining what "the right thing" is from his character's point of view) as John Connor, and the idea of pushing the Messiah just a little too far, and see him have a fall from grace. The schedule was so tight that the two Aussie guys, at the time of recording this, had not yet had a beer together, which is something Jai Courtney says he is embarrassed about. The fog over the Golden Gate Bridge and trying to work around that. Alan Taylor was not intimidated to the point where he couldn't directly tell Schwarzenegger when to tone it up or down. Filming at NASA. Matt Smith revels at finally being able to play a villain. The wire work for the climactic fight between robots.

I recommend this to any fan of the property. 8/10
