The investigation into a cancer patient's murder takes a supernatural turn when a legend is dug up that, in 1905, a ghost murdered a doctor who had been unable to save some patients in that hospital. Soon after, a doctor is also fatally stabbed and given a white rose, the exact same MO. As authors assemble for a crime authors convention Jane dreads, Maura gets some writing advice from research-obsessed ghost crime legends author Samantha Caspary, who could help establish her in the literary field and tries every trick to get to the hospital records on the original murder panic. Frankie avoids Kent, fearing he won't dare refuse accepting tickets for an unspecified Scottish show, but is delighted when convinced to give 'newcomer' Drake a shot, just like he once needed as new boy in the scouts.
