In this episode of the continually innovatory ARTSNIGHT strand, artist Ryan Gander interviews a variety of people, including designers Maki Suzuki and Max Lamb, about the potential for creativity. He admires the sheer diversity of their products and discusses where their ideas spring from.
The overriding impression of this program was that in spite of the fact that all the interviewees are professionals in some way, shape or form, they emphasized that creativity lurks within all of us. It is our responsibility to look beneath the surface of work, finance, and family stability and try and tap into this wealth of talent. Sometimes we might be required to stand back a little and contemplate our relationship to the world, but the effort would reap substantial benefits.
Whether we have the time and the inclination to do so is another matter. Nonetheless this program offered an optimistic view of human personalities and for the future of artistic expression in Great Britain and elsewhere.
