Family Fun - A Town Full of Promise and A Mayor with Drive and Determination
D'Lo, Mississippi is a small town full of interesting and amazing history buried deep beneath the current emptiness of its once thriving main street. Mayor John Henry Berry has decided it's time to share the town's history through stories told by generations of families living in D'Lo since the 1800's. However, his biggest dream is to revitalize this small town through restoring buildings and offering those locations to visionaries, like himself, who dream of having their own business. By utilizing its beautiful Strong River recreational areas to offer camping, fishing, canoeing, picnics, walking trails and sports fields Mayor Berry hopes other families visit and fall in love with D'Lo too. The term "Small Town" may seem like the definition of southern folk stories, perhaps it is and Mayor Berry plans to make those stories come back to life with a modern twist. D'Lo has welcomed Hollywood with open arms in hopes of offering a family oriented show that all ages can sit down to watch together and not worry about having to bleep out words or events. Families in D'Lo love their town in so many different ways and now, through a hands-on Mayor, his hilarious side-kicks, entertaining family and wonderful/lively residents of D'Lo, they are out to show why. Imagine if you will, a small town with soldiers of the past returning home through museums; watermills spinning in tribute to the large watermills which once filled the small town with jobs, homes and income. Restaurants and cafés with tables along the sidewalks; general stores with hardware, candy, ice cream, antiques, whatever a person can dream Mayor John Henry Berry and the town of D'Lo is willing to share with those who believe small towns are worth saving. It's not there yet, but Mayor Berry darn sure plans to make it get to that point, even if he has to do the majority of the manual labor himself. I could tell you about the show or even the towns beautiful history of schools, hospitals, soldiers, train tracks, furniture stores, movies, rivers and so much more, but you can find that allover the internet. What I want to point out is this town is trying to come back from yesterday by making today better for families of tomorrow. Of course no person or town is perfect but Mayor Berry is perfectly passionate about the small town he shares with his beloved neighbors, friends and family. He's not afraid to work to make it better, hand him a cord to plug in his golf cart battery each night and he'll drive it to whatever dirty job awaits him in the morning. That's the spirit of an American Small Town with a Big Mayor full of personality and determination. It's funny and it's an enjoyable show. Watch it with all ages of your family and friends.
