English version of "Pies morski", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, was shortened and re-edited to a ~5 minute episode titled "Flying Boat". It was originally broadcast in the UK in 1983 (as episode 46) on "Children's ITV" (on Central Independent Television). Missing from the UK version:
- The opening shot of the Moominvalley; young Moominpappa picking flowers, and bringing them to Hodgkins; the island's inhabitants and guests waiting, the orchestra of Hemulens beginning to play, and the King arriving; three different shots of Hemulens playing; the Joxter panicking, and Hodgkins turning the crank inside the plane.
- Hodgkins operating the plane during take-off while the others are watching, and a close-up of Moominpappa; the crew watching as the plane dives into the water; the sequence with the strange fishes around the plane at the bottom of the sea and the crew listening sounds from the radio (the UK episode picks up from the scene where Hodgkins turns the lights off); Hodgkins operating the plane (with the Island Ghost on the background); some shots of the cat-and-mouse game between the plane and the sea lion, the sea lion shaking the boat, and the crew shaken inside the boat.
- A close-up of Edward the Booble's leg, and a wider shot of the creature on the surface before it goes under water; Hodgkins turning the lights back on; Edward the Booble sitting at the bottom of the ocean; the crew tidying up the cabin, and the plane moving again; the original ending, where Little My is showing a magnifying glass.
