Amazon is delivering some prime content (see what we did there?) for its spring season of pilots.
On March 17, the streaming service will launch its new pilot season, which will consist of two hourlong pilots and three half-hour pilots. Amazon claims that after watching the pilots, its customers can review them, which offers feedback on which series will become the next Amazon Original Series.

“Fashion has the power to transform us. It’s not so much about who you are but who you want to be. Even those who hate fashion make a statement with what they wear, if only to say to the world, ‘I don’t give a damn.’”
Such are the wise words by fashion house owner Paul Sabine (Richard Coyle). If only Amazon‘s “The Collection” actually heeded them.
Set in Paris 1947, the atelier Paul Sabine House is tasked by a wealthy and powerful investor with restoring Paris as the haute couture capital of the world. The wartime German occupation of the city, however, has cast a long shadow, and our Parisians are having a hard time shaking off that oppression, the rationing mindset and past decisions.

Even if they don’t hold the same clout as, say, Stallone and Schwarzenegger, Van Damme and Lundgren are two names that are often revered in Hollywood’s action scene, and over the years fans have lapped up their on-screen battles in the likes of Universal Soldier and its widely derided sequel, Universal Soldier: Regeneration.
But it appears Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren are ready to let bygones by bygones, for The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the duo has been cast in Black Water, a new action-thriller in which they’ll play on-screen allies for the very first time. No director is attached just yet, but THR reveals that the script by Chad Law revolves around a “deep cover operative (Van Damme) who awakens to find himself imprisoned in a CIA black site on a submarine.” Little is known about Lundgren’s involvement, but we assume his character...

As acclaimed as it was, Mad Men was never a breakout ratings hit — which makes it all the more strange that so many ’60s-set clones have popped up since its debut. First came NBC’s The Playboy Club and ABC’s Pan Am, both cancelled after a single season. And now comes Amazon’s newsroom drama Good Girls Revolt (debuting this Friday), which unfortunately is closer in quality to those two misfires than the original. It gets the period clothes and music right, but forgets to include any of the insight and emotional complexity that made Mad Men great.

Universal Pictures’ monsters universe will kick off in 2017 with an all-new The Mummy movie starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe, after which Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man and more will get their chances to frighten new generations of moviegoers. The latest lycanthrope outing has gained plenty of traction in the last year, with rumors swirling about the possibility of Dwayne Johnson in the hairy lead role. The project is currently sans director, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, it has picked up a new screenwriter. The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham has been tapped to rework Aaron Guzikowski’s script.
In addition to sharing screenplay credits with Sylvester Stallone, the Doom scribe is also writing Zombieland 2 and a new Mortal Kombat movie. Universal hired a new writer to help bring The Wolf Man back to the screen...
It wasn’t the Wolf Man’s fault he walked so thorny, it was the screenwriter’s. Universal is rebooting its horror classics for a new generation. For the remake of the 1941 film The Wolf Man, which starred Lon Chaney Jr., they are handing over the wolfbane to Dave Callaham, who wrote the screenplays for The Expendables, Doom, Tell-Tale and the upcoming Zombieland 2.
Callaham will be re-writing the first draft which was written by Aaron Guzikowski, who in turn wrote the screenplays for Prisoners and Friday The 13th. Callaham’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson was recently picked up to series by Amazon.
Universal hasn’t given away much as far as plot for The Wolf Man remake, but we know it’s about the stout-hearted Larry Talbot, heir to the Talbot family fortune and castle.

Amazon’s “The Tick” pilot made enough of an impression to get a full series order, with new episode expected some time next year. Created by Ben Edlund, this new series stars Peter Serafinowicz, taking the reigns from previous The Tick actor Patrick Warburton, as the comedic blue superhero. Edlund and producer Barry Josephson attended New York Comic Con on Thursday to discuss the new series and revealed that Warburton, who also serves as one of the show’s producers, will have a cameo in the upcoming season.
“He’ll do something special. I can’t say exactly when,” said Josephson about Warburton.

After another round of letting people check out pilots, Amazon Studios has given the go ahead on three series, and they’re all pretty fantastic.
I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and The Tick all got series orders, and will come out in 2017. You can still catch the pilots if you didn’t manage to get to them yet, and at least now be more comfortable in the fact that you’ll get to watch the shows.
I Love Dick is a strong, but odd, effort starring Kevin Bacon, and is executive produced by Jill Soloway and Andrea Sperling of Transparent, so you can feel pretty safe there.
Jean-Claude Van Johnson is a weirdly fun spin on spy efforts that I think will suck in even those going in with low expectations.
And, The Tick is The Tick.

Good news for early adopters of The Tick, I Love Dick and the really rather bizarre Jean-Claude Van Johnson – Amazon has handed out series orders for all three comedy pilots after they were released for Prime members last month.
Confirmation comes to us via Deadline, revealing that the online giant enjoyed its most-watched pilot season to date. That’s quite the feat, with Joe Lewis, Head of Half-Hour Series at Amazon Studios, noting that “these pilots were vast in scope, disruptive in tone, challenging in story and sometimes even funny. It’s rewarding to see customers embrace them in such a huge way. We can’t wait to premiere these series next year on Prime Video.”

Jean-Claude Van Damme plays a fictionalised version of himself in this action movie spoof Amazon comedy pilot…
Like a supermodel launching a make-up line or an athlete turning coach, playing a parody version of yourself is one way for past-their-prime movie stars to keep the cheques coming. Just one month after Van Damme helped kick off Fantasia 2016 as Master Durand in opening night film Kickboxer Vengeance we see the Belgian actor assume the role of Jean-Claude Van Johnson in Amazon’s upcoming series of the same name. Promising to be equal parts Hollywood satire and send-up of Jcvd’s martial artist status, the first trailer follows the ennui-filled morning routine of an aged and lonesome movie star who looks back on former glory as he Segways himself onto the sidewalk to pick up a new issue of Variety. Slight, yet punctuated by nostalgia-inducing French music, the trailer already leaves you wanting...

Jean-Claude Van Johnson is not your typical Amazon series. Rolling out alongside I Love Dick and the Peter Serafinowicz-fronted revival of The Tick, Dave Callaham’s meta series places the Muscles from Brussels front and center for a new half-hour show.
As today’s first snippet reveals, it’s a fairly comedic affair, following Jcvd as he goes about his morning routine – be it munching down pop tarts or scooping up the paper aboard his segway scooter. Indeed, it evokes memories of Van Damme’s 2008 pic Jcvd, swapping out the drama of a bank robbery for something much more light-hearted and refreshingly self-aware, with scores of references to Van Damme’s movie catalog littered in today’s trailer.
Amazon Prime subscribers can cast their vote over a number of half-hour comedies today, August 19, with Jean-Claude Van Johnson finding itself among that roster. Whether the meta series has a future...

“Jean-Claude Van Johnson”
“’Timecop’ is like ‘Looper’ with Bruce Willis, but a million times better,” is just one of the gems spoken in “Jean-Claude Van Johnson” which is as gloriously ridiculous as its title.
What the Amazon pilot lacks in plot — action star Jean-Claude Van Damme comes out of retirement to act as a private contractor specializing in kicking ass and doing the splits — it makes up for with indiscriminate jabs at everything and anyone, including its star, Hollywood, pretentious foodies and even America’s Undulating Beefcake, Channing Tatum. A surprising appearance by Phylicia Rashad, who gamely plays Jean-Claude’s agent, is a comic revelation. She delivers the most absurd movie pitches with such enthusiasm that we’re ready to sign up for the “P.F. Chang’s” biopic ourselves.
The only real disappointment is the lackluster treatment of Jean-Claude’s love interest Vanessa (Kat Foster), who isn’t given much to work with story-wise.

Amazon is trying to step up their game in the original series department, reaching out to movie star personalities like Woody Allen in the hopes that their new shows attract some attention. Well, the company has reached out to about as different a movie star from Allen as you can think of, action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, and he's starring in a new show called Jean-Claude Van Johnson in which he plays a...well, basically himself, but a real-life version of a lot of the kinds of characters he's played on the big screen. Check out the synopsis:
If you need to eliminate a political rival, debilitate a multinational corporation, or overthrow an entire government—and you need it done with the utmost secrecy—there’s only one person to turn to: one of the most internationally recognizable movie stars in the history of film. Jean-Claude Van Johnson stars Jean-Claude Van Damme...

What do you do when you’re a global martial arts and film sensation, the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world and happen to be retired? For Jean-Claude van Damme, internationally recognizable actor and star of the new Amazon series “Jean-Claude Van Johnson,” he seems to spends his days relaxing in his lavish home.
Yesterday Amazon released the first official photos of Jcvd’s new pilot and today the first teaser trailer for the show has arrived. While the video doesn’t show much of the series’ plot, it does paint a satirical picture of what the retired movie star’s life looks like.

The Muscles From Brussels is back and starring in his very first Tv series titled “Jean Claude Van Johnson“. This is something i am very excited about, being a fan of his work since the early 1990’s, i am very much looking forward to it.
“Jean-Claude Van Johnson” stars Jean-Claude Van Damme, playing a Martial Arts and film Icon, operating under the name “Johnson,”. He is known as one of the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world.
Plot:
A famous action hero/martial arts star comes out of retirement to assume an alter ego as undercover private contractor named Jean-Claude Johnson.
It is also great to see Van Damme in a comedy, i have always been impressed with his comedy acting and timing, so this should be alot of fun.

Amazon has released a few first-look photos from its superhero comedy pilot “The Tick,” and it has set the premiere date for that and the pilots for two other previously announced projects, Jill Soloway‘s “I Love Dick” and Jean-Claude Van Damme‘s “Jean-Claude Van Johnson.” A highly anticipated adaptation of the comic book series, “The Tick” stars Peter Serafinowicz (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) as the titular blue superhero, who was previously played by Patrick Warburton in Fox’s 2001 live-action series. The new photos reveal Serafinowicz’s costume for the first time, blue antennae and all, as well as some of the show’s villains.

Spoooooon! Amazon today announced that everyone’s favorite antennaed superhero, The Tick, will be back to save the world on August 19. How long it will last, that’s still to be determined as Amazon is treating this as a pilot process to choose their new comedy series. The reboot of the short-lived live-action TV series comes almost 15 years after it went off the air in early 2002. Originally a comic book and later an animated series, the Fox version of The Tick starred Patrick Warburton in the title role. The reboot will feature Peter Serafinowicz as the bug in blue as well as Griffin Newman as his sidekick, Arthur. The streaming service also announced that a couple other of its comedy series will get their trial runs on the same day. I Love Dick (insert your own joke here) is based on the 1997 novel by Chris Kraus. It stars Kevin Bacon,...

On the whole, Amazon Studios’s most successful projects have been its comedies, some of which have earned it awards season recognition and critical accolades. Now, with its next season of competing pilots, it is offering up three more comedies for its viewing audience: I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and The Tick.
This Amazon pilot season is the first one to be explicitly branded around a specific genre, but the three comedies included in this batch are very different from one another:
I Love Dick, which stars Kathryn Hahn, Griffin Dunne, and Kevin Bacon, will explore love and marriage, with the artsy town of Marfa, Texas serving as its backdrop. One of the pilot’s executive producers, Jill Soloway, is also the creator of Amazon’s most acclaimed original series, Transparent.
