The goat is him. That sounds a little strange, but that’s what has happened with the title of the upcoming Jordan Peele-produced horror movie. Once titled Goat (as in “greatest of all time”), the movie has since been retitled Him. It, too, has been given an official release date of September 19th, 2025.
Him was announced earlier this year, a few months before the most recent Jordan Peele production, Monkey Man, hit theaters. With that movie doing well with critics, Universal and Monkeypaw Productions are putting even more stock in him.
Him, which has been described as “an anti-sports horror movie”, was actually part of the 2022 Black List, the annual survey which reveals the best unproduced screenplays of any given year. Then known as Goat, Him has the following plot, as per The Black List: “A promising first-round draft pick is invited to train at the private compound of...

Billy Dee Williams, who originated the role of Lando Calrissian in the “Star Wars” franchise, spoke to Radio Times about Donald Glover’s portrayal of the smooth-talking smuggler turned rebel hero.
“I had a nice little lunch with him. He’s a delightful young man. Extremely talented,” Williams said. “But I don’t see him… I mean, when it comes to Lando Calrissian there’s only one Lando Calrissian. I created that character.”
Williams also shared the only advice he gave Glover about playing Lando: “I told him to be charming – two words! That’s all I needed to tell him. That’s all I could think of.”

A good high-school or college TV show is like a time machine, designed to transport nostalgic older viewers backward to youth or (more rarely) younger viewers forward to an anticipated maturity. At the same time, it’s a sufficiently codified genre that the nostalgia is as much for other fictional favorites in the same narrative space as it is for any “real” experience of high school or college.
A well-cast high-school or college TV show is a time machine on yet another level, enjoyable in its immediacy but also a preview for decades of future ensembles. Even if the breakouts from a Freaks and Geeks or Sex Education or Dear White People aren’t always the stars you’d expect, one needn’t watch more than a scene or two to know how well-populated those shows are.

The satirical psychological horror American Psycho was released in 2000. Set in Manhattan during the late 1980s Wall Street boom, the film follows the story of a wealthy man named Patrick Bateman who works as an investment banker in Manhattan.
Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman in a still from American Psycho
When the film was released in 2000, it shot Christian Bale to fame and cemented Patrick Bateman as an iconic character. There were times when people used to look up to him as the role model. And all those gym fanatics were obsessed with getting Bateman’s sinewy body.
It’s nearly impossible to imagine anyone other than Bale as Patrick Bateman, but fans believe there’s an actor who can pull it off. Now, with talks of a remake of American Psycho underway, it’s Tom Holland who is receiving strong backing from fans to play the lead role.

A year and a half ago, Get Out, Us, and Nope writer/director Jordan Peele‘s production company Monkeypaw Productions acquired the genre film pitch Goat from writers Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the plan being that Peele would be producing Goat as part of Monkeypaw’s overall deal with Universal Pictures. Now the sports-related horror project is finally making its way toward production, and in recent weeks we’ve learned that Justin Tipping – who made his feature directorial debut with the 2016 drama Kicks – will be directing the film, with lead roles going to Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie) and Tyriq Withers (The Game). Now Deadline reports that the female lead role has gone to Julia Fox.

A trailer for Prey has just arrived online – and no, we’re not talking about that Predator movie that was just released a while back. This is a new movie called Prey, which Vertical will be giving a theatrical and VOD release on March 15th. It seems kind of soon to be sending another movie called Prey out into the world, but clearly Vertical disagrees. Ryan Phillippe (Shooter), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), and Mena Suvari (American Beauty) star in this “nature run amok” survival thriller, and you can check out the trailer in the embed above. A poster for the film can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil, who previously worked with Phillippe on the 2022 thriller Collide and with Hirsch on the 2022 thriller The Immaculate Room, Prey has the following synopsis: After an extremist militant group threatens their lives,...

Neon has done a great job of promoting the upcoming horror film Longlegs while also keeping the story’s secrets concealed. Although multiple teaser trailers and posters have made their way online, we still don’t know a whole lot about this movie, beyond the fact that it’s scheduled to reach theatres on July 12th. But if you want to know exactly how much we do know about it, just keep scrolling down, because we have compiled a list of Everything We Know About Longlegs.

Nearly four years have gone by since it was announced that Treehouse Pictures was developing a remake of the 1991 Christina Applegate cult classic Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead (watch it Here) that would be directed by Bille Woodruff (Beauty Shop and the Honey quadrilogy) from a screenplay by Chuck Hayward (Dear White People). All that was revealed about the project at the time was that it would be “a present-day retelling centered on a black family.” Then that’s the last we heard about it. Apparently it made its way through production while flying under the radar, though, because Film Ratings has revealed that the remake has already received its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board… and it’s a surprising one. While the original film was rated PG-13, the remake has earned an R rating for “teen drug use, language and some sexual references.”

The 1991 black comedy Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead has become a cult classic over the years, and we first heard rumblings about a modern day remake back in 2020.
Deadline had reported at the time that a “diverse remake” of the ’90s movie was in the works from Treehouse Pictures, said to be a “present-day retelling centered on a Black family.”
In that original May 2020 report, Deadline noted that Bille Woodruff was attached to direct a script written by Chuck Hayward (“Dear White People,” “WandaVision”), with the studio teasing a “new interpretation that is as funny and outrageous as the original but also smart and connected to the world today.”
So what’s the latest on the Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead remake? Well, an official listing from the MPA this week reveals that the upcoming film is rated “R,” which comes as a bit of a surprise considering...

Sundance has a long history of screening films that tackle issues of race in the U.S. from every possible angle. Some are angry, some satirical, and some quite gonzo.
Kobi Libii’s feature debut The American Society of Magical Negroes has the distinction of going for all three, and while it results in a wildly uneven tone, there’s something refreshing about its thoughtfulness. Cord Jefferson’s recent TIFF hit, American Fiction, arguably did a better job of balancing character and politics. But Libii is a talented world-builder, whether taking us into the esoteric halls of an all-Black Hogwarts, or the absurdly boho offices of a largely white Silicon Valley dot-com.
The title is probably the most provocative thing about it, but even that comes with a spoonful of sugar. A pre-credits title card affirms the role of...

Free TV Networks, a new programming entity with a presence in both over-the-air broadcast and streaming, has enlisted Warner Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate and Gray Television as partners and suppliers.
The new company is founded and led by Jonathan Katz, who gained attention a decade ago by creating multicast networks, or “diginets” using spectrum made available via the TV industry’s conversion to high-definition signals during the 2000s. That portfolio of networks, including Bounce, Escape and Grit was acquired in 2017 by E.W. Scripps for $292 million.
The first channels from Free TV will be networks centered on African-American programming and Westerns. Launching New Year’s Day as a diginet, the flagship brand will be The365. It will cater to African-American viewers with a lineup of movies and series like

“Haunted Mansion” director Justin Simien has still not heard from Disney about Donald Glover and Stephen Glover replacing him as writer on their streaming “Star Wars” series-turned-movie, “Lando.”
In a recent interview, he told TheWrap that the news article he saw on social media announcing the decision “was and remains the only official word I ever heard about my involvement on the project.”
He added that he did get “an appraisal of the script I wrote,” but the studio has otherwise not been in touch.
Back on July 27, Simien took to his Instagram Stories and shared a news post reporting that the Glovers were the new “Lando” writers as “Justin Simien exits.” In a caption above the post, Simien wrote, “This is me finding out right now.”
In a second Instagram story, the director expressed that Glover is a “national treasure” and that he was excited to see the duo take on the project,...

Justin Simien is frustrated that 'Haunted Mansion' was released in the shadow of 'Barbenheimer'.The 40-year-old filmmaker helmed the Disney picture that came out just a week after the two blockbusters and thinks the scheduling contributed to the picture's disappointing box office performance.Justin told The Wrap: "I think the release date was really tough – I saw 'Barbie' coming from miles away. I was disappointed by some aspects of our release, but I was not really surprised."He continued: "There's a lot of folks in the industry that just kept saying, 'I don't know' and 'That'll probably not be as big as it sounds like.' And I was like, '(Barbie) is going to be huge'."What 'Oppenheimer' did so well – the marketing for 'Oppenheimer' embraced the fact that 'Barbie' was coming with this gigantic, cultural juggernaut. “Haunted Mansion” director Justin Simien is still haunted by the fact that the Disney release plan for his film did not address being in the shadow of “Barbenheimer.”
Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” premiered in theaters July 28, one week after the shared release date of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.” Both films were met with massive success; “Barbie” especially made history at Warner Bros. as a $1 billion blockbuster helmed by Greta Gerwig. Family-friendly film “Haunted Mansion” grossed $115 million at the global box office comparatively.
