A death-metal band dedicating a song to survivors of sexual assault. A vocalist screaming out lyrics about struggles with body image over her bandmates’ rampaging grindcore. An artist at work mid-show, painting a mural depicting a goblin-like creature tossing a swastika in a garbage can. These were just a few of the signs that Black Flags Over Brooklyn, a marathon event held Friday and Saturday at New York’s Brooklyn Bazaar, was a metal fest with a unique agenda.

Bradley Cooper has set up his next project, which he will take on after he makes his directorial debut with “A Star is Born.” Per Deadline, the actor will star in the Black List WWII drama “Atlantic Wall” from Imperative Entertainment.
Directed by “The Accountant” helmer Gavin O’Connor and written by Zach Dean, “Atlantic Wall” follows a lone American paratrooper who is stranded behind enemy lines hours before D-Day. Imperative’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas will produce, alongside Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner. Cooper and his Joint Effort partner Todd Phillips will be executive producing alongside O’Connor and Robyn Meisinger. The film is slated to begin shooting in 2018, and will film on location in Normandy.

Todd Phillips is vaping. At least, he was vaping when IndieWire sat down with the “War Dogs” helmer a few weeks back to talk about his latest feature, a fact-based film that leans far more towards the dramatic than the “Hangover”-esque antics most people expect from the guy who directed the actual “Hangover” trilogy. That Phillips vapes isn’t exactly shocking — again, there’s certainly an expectation of behavior when it comes to the filmmaker behind “Road Trip” and “Old School” — but his open nature and keen honesty about his own work is pleasantly refreshing.
Phillips doesn’t like to chat too much about future projects and things that might happen (and don’t even bother to mention the litany of projects that populate his IMDb profile’s “in development” section, he says most of them are not real) and he’s not especially interested in the narrative that...

Jennifer Lopez’s next TV role will take her from NYPD detective in “Shades of Blue” to drug lord in HBO’s new film about the infamous Colombian drug dealer Griselda Blanco.
According to Variety, the movie focuses on the rise and fall of Blanco, the drug lord known as “The Cocaine Godmother” who revolutionized the U.S. drug trade during the 1970s and 1980s and became the most powerful female cartel member of all time.
“I’ve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years,” Lopez said. “The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing Griselda’s story to life.”
