Star Wars Rebels - S03E02 Holocrons of Fate

Warning: Spoilers
This show just keeps getting better and better. It is episodes like this that show why I love this show in general. This episode could have been a mid season review, it was that good. So I'm going to jump straight into it.

This episode was split into two parts for me. The first part was a really great moment of reuniting Kanan and Ezra as master and student. I really loved that because I always thought that the dynamic between the two is fantastic and I thought it really stands strong again this episode. After not having much to do this together last episode, I really like how they seem to be back onto the same page again for now. The Bendu really outlines that how he could still sense that there is still a split between them.

Now into the second part of the episode. I always love when Maul is on the screen. Through the animated series, Maul has become one of my favourite villains and he really furthered himself further during this episode. I really loved his role this episode and how they are starting to tease the Maul/Obi-Wan connection and potential conflict. I really hope that they follow through with it. Now that Maul has become such a big part of Rebels, I would hate to see the end of him happen in so other form of medium, plus the inclusion of Obi-Wan in Rebels would be fantastic.

What I really loved about this episode is the reason why I love things such as Star Wars and the MCU and the CW Superhero shows, its that they are apart of a bigger picture and a bigger world. The holocrons were items I didn't know much about until last season so they were always interesting to me. What this episode did was further the mythology of the Star Wars world by bring the holocrons together and I really loved that. Combine that with the Bendu and I'm really excited to dive further into the world that is Star Wars. Overall, another great episode. I thought it continued to set up this season, building on from last episode but still was at the quality of so much more. Like I said before, if this was a mid season finale or a penultimate episode, I wouldn't complain one bit.

Malevolent Maul
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic15 October 2020
This is an excellent episode in which Maul takes Hera, Sabine, Zeb and Chopper prisoner. He demands the Sith holocron and Kanan's Jedi holocron in return for their lives. Ezra and Kanan have to retrieve the Sith holocron from the Bendu who warns them by uniting the two holocrons great and dangerous knowledge will be available.

I really love how brilliant Maul is as a sinister but complex character. He makes this episode great with his malevolent presence and smart dialogue.

Great to see the Bendu again who is so beautifully voiced by the legendary Tom Baker.

Also this is very interesting for the overall story as Kanan and Ezra face up to their issues and are presented with some confusing pieces of information.

The Holocrons of Fate

This was the episode that really hit home why Maul had to appear in this series. He has unfinished business with an old foe, and if we are going to get that fateful match between them, I might lose my mind. The episode in itself was also great, and a superior episode to the premiere. It brought Kanan and Ezra even closer together as they had to find the Sith holocron, and it gave a little bit more story on the Bendu, who I believe knows a lot more about this whole conflict that he is letting out. It was a great episode in regards to development, and it gave some interesting notions that I have a hard time preparing myself for. I don't know where this series is going to end up, but I do believe that we may even get to see it move past the original trilogy, which would be pretty cool. I did think Maul was a little goofy in this episode, which is probably due to the Disney XD factor of it all, but he was still menacing and had a great presence in the episode. I look forward to see what he will bring to the table, and when we are going to get that inevitable episode that I think (and hope) that we get soon.

Maul-for-all

Warning: Spoilers
Plot; Maul kidnaps the crew of the Ghost and forces Kanan and Ezra to retrieve the Sith Holocron.

Tight, focused episode with future story implications. In short; exactly what a good Rebels episode should be. I'm a little torn (no pun intended) on nine lives Darth Maul. Yes, he was over-hyped and underused in The Phantom Menace, but come on, dude was cut and half and sent falling down a seemingly bottomless shaft. Persistence is a virtue, but come on! I really like seeing Kanan evolve from reckless, half trained Padawan into a full Jedi Master. I wish they'd stretched his journey out a bit more as it relates to his loss of sight and new insight, but his character has really reached his full potential now, and Freddie Prinze Jr's performance has grown right along with the character.

Two episodes in (for me), and I'm pleased to say that S3 is off to a strong start.

The Holocrons of the hands of fate

Another excellent episode from what is a mostly excellent show at this point.

The tone of Star Wars has been pretty consistent in this show, but Season 2 is where it started to actually look and feel like Star Wars of that makes sense. I really love the animated Star Wars content!

Anyway, this was a great character episode. I loved the little conflicts and resolve for Kanan and Ezra. Their hug was so sweet and emotional, and seeing Bendu again was great. This episode hints at some pretty great things to come this season. The final scene was especially awesome.

Excellent episode.

The Episode order is wrong

The show itself is fantastic. But someone botched up thr episode order really badly lol. Needs a lot of attending to. Some episodes aren't even listed at all, and others have descriptions from different episodes.
