You Can't Have White Smoke!

This is a phenomenal series. I'm not Catholic and I'm pretty uncertain when it comes to the teachings of Christianity. But I am aware what an impact Catholicism and other world religions have on our world (perhaps way too much). This series captured the ethos of the Vatican. I don't know how much was spent on sets and costumes and creating such a world. In this final one, we have the final determination of Pope Pius XIII as to what should be done with the pedophile Archbishop. We have Lenny beginning to see the value of his flock, but there is quite a concluding scene. I loved the scene where he tells the little kids that they must be bad because the rain is Christ crying because of them. He say he meant it as a joke, but he hated being there. This allows for some epiphany as the episode rolls to a conclusion. And he finally turns his head. I guess if there is to be a second season, it's going to be way down the line because of commitments by Jude Law and the director and creator. This is one of the most interesting productions I've ever seen. It is intelligent, edgy, and new.

It takes a TV Show to explain me religion
bri-8729 December 2017
I'm an Atheist, since I can think. Nobody could ever explain to me, why people believe in something - no matter what religion. Even my aunt, who is christian theology teacher, couldn't offer any kind of explanation.

I tumbled onto this series in a "Top of 2017" list and luckily gave it a shot. Probably because of Jude Law. It captivated me right from the beginning. Expecting basically a comedy with a young and cool pope - this is so much more - and not at all what I expected. It is not afraid to twist and turn, to make you cringe. But that's exactly what forces you to think about the issues that are being pondered.

It makes a great job of portraying a devoted live, without offending believers or non-believers. That's the power of stunning acting and a thoughtful script. I think this is some of Jude Laws best work, but everybody is top of their game.

Honestly, man, the last episode had me in tears and overwhelmed.

I do hope they will not produce more than one other season or at best, stop here. I think, TV Shows are the future, they give a lot more space to develop, but they need to learn to find an ending and come up with new ideas.

Thanks for producing this fearless and touching show!

Peace and Happy New Year!! ;-)
