- Imperial fighters fire on and destroy a declared unarmed transport with the implicit deaths of all aboard. In a later sequence, Sabine, Wedge, Hobbie and Rake are called to do the same in a simulator exercise. When they refuse on grounds of conscience, the simulator has the Ghost come out of nowhere and destroy their simulator fighters.
- During the first defection attempt, Rake is killed when his defenseless fighter is destroyed.
- Governor Pryce threatens to torture Sabine to get information. Later, Sabine and Pryce get into a vicious fistfight that ends with Sabine knocking Pryce into the torture device shocking her into unconsciousness.
