The wise man defending the devil. A familiar theme for the fairy tales of Central and East Europe, well used in this short film, in the clothes of special effects. So, familiar, nice and beautiful for the resurrected memories from childhood in a different context.

Warning: Spoilers
"Legendy Polskie Twardowsky 2.0" is a 20-minute live action short film from 2016 and it is actually the longest of Oscar nominee Baginski's Polish Legends works while the first Twardowsky film was in fact the shortest at under 9 minutes only. The story continues and now Twardowsky is not just on the run from one of the Devil's hot assistants, but Mephisto himself takes care of the matter now. But as we find out quickly, he is about as incompetent as his aide and Twardovsky (played again by experienced Polish actor Robert Wieckiewicz does not really have a hard time to become the winner from this duel. Overall, it may look okay from start to finish here, but story-wise I am once again not sold. If I say this is still among the better Polish legends and give it such a rating, then you can probably guess what I am thinking of the series as a whole. But it was a huge success on Youtube and I wonder how it may have inspired Blomkamp's recent Youtube series. Back to this one here, I am also missing the reference to Poland other than the protagonist's nationality and the language. I want Baginski to return to animation again. His live action work here is not a failure, but it's also not on a level where I would recommend checking it out. Watch something else instead.
