I was at the premiere of Haunted Sonoma County at the beautiful Sebastiani Theatre. Tickets sold out fast and I was one of the lucky ones. Looking around at the other attendees, everyone looked like they knew they were part of a very special event. The mood got spooky right away - I got the feeling I was looking through a creepy old photo album from a haunted attic that held dark secrets. The film features many wonderfully eerie location shots that Sonoma County residents will love. There are quite a few ghostly reenactments with local residents recalling tales of the supernatural that have long been part of Sonoma County legend. Whether you love history or ghost stories, you will enjoy this journey into Sonoma's haunted past.

An unintentionally hilarious comedy

It's almost baffling that this is a film shown in theaters in my local area. If this was made as a student film documentary, it wouldn't be completely awful. This movie does contain some amateur film making mistakes, such as over exposed shots and uneven editing, that it feels like a feature length movie made on iMovie. I'm not trying to bash the film makers involved, but it just feels like they could have done a much better job even with the small budget. This movie works as a comedy if you're constantly thinking how this movie was distributed in theaters, but fails as a thrilling creepy look into Sonoma County. One positive I will say is that if this movie was shown in theaters, then I'm very optimistic about working in the industry as an aspiring film maker.
