This is a low budget film and I will give you a midpoint plot spoiler. Alma (Alexandra Chelaru) listens to a tape recording left my her grandmother who whispered into it. Alma does more than connect to her grandmother, she becomes possessed by her. From the discussion Alma has in the opening scene with her step-grandfather Gus (Maurice Kamhi) we have a good idea where this is headed.
Spirit possession films tend to be creepier than this one. Alexandra Chelaru does a decent job for a script that borders on cleverness, but winds up less than entertaining. No dolls, no people levitating, no TV static. And thank you for not using a voice distorter. The film may have been too low budget for it. The nuts and bolts for a low budget film were there, good framing, no sound issues, no camera man shadows. However the film moves too slow to be entertaining. Not spooky.
Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. Thank you Alexandra Chelaru for the naked shoulder shower scene.
