Polanski Meets Macbeth (1972)
**** (out of 4)
This forty-seven minute documentary takes us behind-the-scenes on the making of Roman Polanski's MACBETH. The film was known for being the director's first after the brutal death of his wife and unborn child. If you're looking for a documentary that has Polanski talking about his mindset and the process of his filmmaking style then you're not going to get that here. What you are going to get is a terrific look at a man doing his job. The camera pretty much just stays back and watches Polanski work and that's why this film is so great. The entire documentary is just a fascinating piece of history where you're watching an artist do their thing and it's very fun and highly entertaining to watch. You get some interviews with the cast members who talk about Polanski and his vision. Also discussed is the film going over budget and the violence in the picture.
