Fresh off of working on the horror films Swallowed and Consecration, Jena Malone has signed on to star in the supernatural thriller The Movers – and Deadline reports that she’ll be working with a cool supporting cast that includes Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow), Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do!), Grant Feely (Obi Wan), Kellan Rhude (Dexter: New Blood), Natalie Burn (Black Adam), and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future).
Written and directed by Giorgio Serafini, The Movers will tell the story of a close-knit family who moves into a seemingly charming neighborhood, only to discover that all is not what it appears. As they face persistent threats, the family begins to question their reality and the world around them. It’s a nightmarish universe of deceiving angels and compassionate demons, lost souls desperately seeking a way out.

American acting icon Christopher Lloyd is set to join Simon Pegg and Minnie Driver in the cast of a dark comedy called “Nandor Fodor and The Talking Mongoose,” TheWrap can reveal exclusively.
“Nandor” comes from writer and director Adam Sigal (“Chariot”) and is filming now in Leeds in the United Kingdom, with Lloyd due to arrive on set later this week.
The film stars Pegg as Dr. Nandor Fodor, a real-life, famed Hungarian-American psychoanalyst, author, journalist and “parapsychologist” who was a leading authority on poltergeists, hauntings and other paranormal phenomena and in the 1930s advanced the theory that such hauntings could be the result of past unresolved mental tensions. The film is based on a true story of Fodor’s pursuit of “Gef,” an allegedly talking mongoose that inhabited the home of a family on the Isle of Man and attracted many ghost hunters, as well as the British tabloids,...

“TekWar” was William Shatner’s ’90s sci-fi passion project. Thirty-odd years later, he’s adapting his sci-fi world into an adult animated television series.
Deadline reported on Tuesday that Shatner, best known for portraying James T. Kirk in the original “Star Trek” series, is working with Pure Imagination Studios to develop and produce the adaptation. Per Deadline, the “TekWar” novels are set in the year 2043 and follow a former detective in futuristic Los Angeles who was framed for the crime of dealing an illegal mind-altering drug in the form of a bio-digital microchip. It poses a great threat to humanity and has the potential to become a virus that will lead to an unrecoverable future.
Shatner’s nine “TekWar” novels, which were ghost-written by Ron Goulart, were published from 1989 to 1997. The “TekWar” novels were adapted into a variety of mediums, including four television movies, a two-season live-action series, as well...

Screen Media has acquired “Best Sellers,” a comedy with Michael Caine and Aubrey Plaza about a pair of misfits that has a literary twist. The deal is for all U.S. rights, and the company plans to release the film theatrically and on-demand in September.
Directed by Lina Roessler (“Little Whispers: The Vow”), “Best Sellers” centers on an ambitious young editor (Plaza) who decides to try to save the flailing publishing house her father left her by going on a book tour with the bitter, hard-drinking author (Caine) who helped establish the company several decades and an ocean of booze ago.
Cary Elwes, Scott Speedman, Ellen Wong and Veronica Ferres co-star in the film. The screenplay, written by Anthony Grieco, won a 2015 Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting award.
“Not since ‘As Good as it Gets’ have we seen such a mismatched pair take to the road,” said Screen Media in a statement.

Stars: William Shatner, Jean Smart, Christopher Lloyd, Esai Morales, Katrina Bowden, Carlos Miranda, Don McManus | Written by Kurt Brungardt, Christopher Momenee | Directed by Giorgio Serafini
William Shatner proves he’s still got it by headlining this romantic comedy at the grand old age of 90. Admittedly, the script’s a little creaky, but the film stays watchable thanks to Shatner’s star power and a charming support performance from co-star Jean Smart.
Shatner plays Victor Martin, a former NASA pilot who’s retired to Palm Springs, where he spends his days cruising around town in his beloved Porsche, hanging out with best friend Sal (Christopher Lloyd) and occasionally chasing much younger women, like car magazine model Kristen.
However, after his car spins out of control during a race against cheeky low rider Pablo (Carlos Miranda), Victor has his licence temporarily revoked and winds up meeting cafe owner Caroline (Smart) when he has to take public transport.

The Zac Efron survival thriller “Gold” has sold to Screen Media following a competitive bidding situation that saw several studios and distributors circling the project.
The film co-stars Anthony Hayes who co-wrote the script in addition to directing the picture. Susie Porter rounds out the cast.
“Gold” centers on two men who stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found while traveling through a remote desert. They hatch a plan to protect and excavate the gold, a scheme that requires one man to leave to secure equipment while the other stays behind to protect the discovery… at all costs. “Gold” was filmed in South Australia late last year and is currently in post-production.
“It is always every filmmaker’s dream to make a film and snag a large North American release for their film and a bidding war is even more rare,” said Hayes. “It is a testament to our...

Screen Media has acquired North American rights to “The Birthday Cake,” a mob crime drama that boasts a murderer’s row of talent.
The film may be Jimmy Giannopoulos’ feature directorial debut, but the director attracted such stars and veterans as Shiloh Fernandez, Ewan McGregor, Val Kilmer, Lorraine Bracco, William Fichtner, Ashley Benson, Luis Guzman, Paul Sorvino, Vincent Pastore, Aldis Hodge, Penn Badgley, Emory Cohen, and Jeremy Allen White. That’s partly because the filmmaker spent years working in short films and music with artists including Miley Cyrus, A$AP Rocky and Kid Cudi. Screen Media will release the film in theaters and on demand in June 2021.

“Raya and the Last Dragon,” which grossed $32 million for its first month in theaters, made a strong general-public premium VOD debut. Everyone can now buy it at $29.99; previously, only Disney+ subscribers had the privilege with the same upcharge. The animated film took the top spot at FandangoNow as well as AppleTV which ranks by purchase volume.
“Black Widow” and “Cruella” are expected to follow suit in the coming months, but Disney+ availability looks a lot less threatening after the box-office success of “Godzilla vs. Kong,” which grossed $48.5 million — over 9 million tickets sold — even while available on HBO Max. In Canada, where most theaters are not yet open, it took in around $3 million U.S. as a PVOD offering.
After several weeks at $19.99, “Wonder Woman 1984” benefited from a price reduction to $5.99 three months after its theatrical debut — Aka normal practice. It is #1 at Google Play, and #2 at AppleTV and FandangoNow,...

In 1984, Lloyd was playing a Klingon in Star Trek; today he’s William Shatner’s friend in the romcom Senior Moment. Soon, he will be King Lear. Is there a logic to his apparently chaotic career?
It seems appropriate for a man whose most famous role had him struggling with the nature of time that Christopher Lloyd arrives for our interview half an hour late and somewhat flustered. Screen Media is making the Tony Hale comedy “Eat Wheaties!” a part of its balanced breakfast and has acquired the U.S. rights to the film. The distributor is planning a release in theaters and on demand April 30.
“Eat Wheaties!” is directed by Scott Abramovitch and stars Hale as Sid Straw, a man who desperately tries to prove that he knows a celebrity — in this case, Elizabeth Banks — only for his creepy messages to her to go viral and get him banned from his college reunion. With his life at a crossroads, he sets out to rediscover the best version of himself and hires an inexperienced lawyer to help clear his name.

"This is not about you getting back your license to drive, this is about your license to live!" Screen Media Films has unveiled an official trailer for an old timers romantic comedy called Senior Moment, made by filmmaker Giorgio Serafini. This zany romcom set in SoCal features William Shatner and Jean Smart in a lovers-at-any-age romance. After drag racing his vintage convertible around Palm Springs, a retired NASA test pilot loses his driver's license. Forced to take public transportation, he meets Caroline. Now he must not only battle with the Dmv, he must also find new ways to navigate love and life without his beloved vintage Porsche. The film's cast also includes Christopher Lloyd, Esai Morales, Katrina Bowden, and Carlos Miranda. This definitely seems like a "for adults only" kind of comedy, if you know what I mean. I'm not even old enough for it. And it looks like Lloyd...

Screen Media has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Senior Moment, a comedy directed by Giorgio Serafini that stars William Shatner, Christopher Lloyd and Jean Smart. The pic will hit theaters and on demand in March, and Film Mode Entertainment will shop it to buyers at this year’s European Film Market in Berlin.
Shatner plays Victor Martin, a retired NASA test pilot often seen speeding around Palm Springs in his vintage Porsche convertible with his best friend Sal (Lloyd) in tow. His life changes when his license is revoked and he meets his polar opposite Caroline (Smart) on the bus, learning to navigate love and life again as he goes up against the state’s new Da to get back his license and car. Esai Morales and Katrina Bowden also star.
Kurt Brungardt and Christopher Momenee penned the script. Gina G. Goff is the producer.

Kaye Ballard, a comic actress and singer who was a regular presence on TV for decades and starred in the late-’60s NBC comedy The Mothers-in-Law, has died. Palm Springs-area paper The Desert Sun reported that the star also known for The Girl Most Likely and a half-dozen Broadway musicals died Monday at her home in Rancho Mirage.
Ballard had appeared on a couple of TV programs when she was cast as Marge opposite Jane Powell and Cliff Robertson in the 1958 big-screen musical comedy remake of The Girl Most Likely. She would appear in a handful of movies in the ensuing decades, but TV was her go-to medium.
In 1967 she starred with Eve Arden in The Mothers-in-Law, playing half of an unconventional couple, the Buells, who was best friends with their very-straight suburban neighbors the Hubbards (Arden and Herbert Rudley). The series struggled to lure viewers in its 8:30 Sunday...

Jean Smart has joined the cast of HBO’s Watchmen as a series regular.
Written by Damon Lindelof based on characters from DC, Watchmen is considered a dark satirical and dystopian take on the superhero genre. Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
Emmy winner Smart will play an FBI Agent investigating a murder. The character’s identity has not been revealed but there is wide speculation that it is Agent Blake.
Smart joins the Watchmen cast that includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing and James Wolk
Lindelof executive produces with Nicole Kassell, who directed the pilot, Tom Spezialy, director Stephen Williams and Joseph Iberti.

Variety reports that the sci-fi star crossover of our dreams is finally happening—albeit not in the way we might have expected when we were mashing our Star Trek and Back To The Future action figures together when we were kids. Christopher Lloyd has signed on for William Shatner’s romantic comedy Senior Moment, playing a buddy of Shatner’s hotshot former test pilot who gets busted by a program designed to get “dangerous” senior drivers off the road. (We can only hope that Lloyd’s test to keep his license doesn’t include the dreaded question, “What does a yellow light mean?”)
The former Taxi star has been keeping busy in recent years, with appearances in everything from The Big Bang Theory to The Simpsons. In film, he just appeared in Morgan Freeman’s “old dudes partying” flick Going In Style, and as a suspected murderer in last year...

Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd will be teaming up with William Shatner in a new comedy film called Senior Moment. Lloyd and Shatner in the same movie together.. again!? As many of you already know, the two actors previously starred together in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. I never really thought I'd see them together in a film again, but this is a comedic team-up we never knew we wanted until now!
In the film, Shatner plays "a retired Top Gun Navy pilot who used to test aircraft for Nasa. After speeding around town in his vintage convertible hot rod with his best friend (played by Lloyd) in tow, he gets caught in a major crackdown to get dangerous senior drivers off the road, resulting in his car being impounded and his license revoked."

William Shatner is boldly going where only so many actors have gone before: Variety reports the Star Trek stalwart has just boarded an indie rom-com called Senior Moment. In what sounds like an homage to both Top Gun and Space Cowboys, Shatner will play a retired Navy pilot who also happened to test aircraft for Nasa. But retirement can’t clip this maverick’s wings, as he zips around town in a little hot rod (hang on, we’re not at the rom-com part yet.) The film’s being directed by Giorgio Serafini, the helmer of such, um, lighthearted fare as Game Of Death starring Wesley Snipes and the forthcoming The Executioners. We assume there’s a meet-cute nestled somewhere in all that bloody revenge, making Serafini very much the right guy to direct a movie about a twilight-years romance.
