Death, Lust And Montage
boblipton19 January 2024
In what appears to be a trailer for CRIME WITHOUT PASSION, Slavko Vorkapich shows us images ranging from abstract murder to severely representational lust.

Vorkapich was for many years one of the major workers in montage, the editing of a series of images to tell its own story-within-a-story in a motion picture. Here he just goes nuts, and it's very compelling. Born in what is now Serbia, he wound up in Hollywood in the late silent era, editing experimental films, which he continued to do through the end of his career. He also worked for Paramount and Frank Capra, and others who appreciated his keen eye for the images that would take advantage of the Kuleshov effect for movie goers. He died in 1976 at the age of 82.
