It’s hard to imagine we’ll get a better soundtrack this year than that for Jane Schoenbruen’s I Saw the TV Glow. Bringing together yeule, Frances Quinlan, Florist, King Woman, Caroline Polachek, Bartees Strange, Jay Som, The Weather Station, L’Rain, Drab Majesty, Sloppy Jane, and more, with Twin Peaks Roadhouse-esque musical performances in the movie, the soundtrack has now arrived digitally ahead of a vinyl release in July. Meanwhile, the film continues to expand this weekend before going wide next weekend.
I said in my review, “Utterly hypnotic in rhythm from its very first scenes, we hear a haunting motif that will return: Yeule’s cover of Broken Social Scene’s “Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl” as Owen glides underneath a rainbow elementary school parachute. It’s a transfixing moment of color and sound and sets the stage as we’re whisked into this 1996-set world.

The teenage girl who took the photo shared it on social media and the photo blew up. Days later, Alex has 2 million followers on Instagram and was flown to Los Angeles to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Now, Alex is sharing an update on his life, almost one decade later.
Keep reading to find out more…
“I had no idea it was being taken,” Alex told People. “My phone, an old Samsung Galaxy, blew up with text messages and notifications because my number had been leaked,” he says. “My phone stopped working.”

Exclusive: Charithra Chandran, who broke out playing Edwina Sharma in Netflix’s smash regal series Bridgerton, has spoken out against an entertainment industry mentality that she feels pits people of color against each other.
Chandran, who was speaking to Deadline in the days before her debut West End play wraps, said she has “never pictured myself as a role model” but “a lot of young girls follow me on social media, so I do feel a sense of responsibility.”
Actors including Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero and Aubrey Plaza have spoken out in the past about there being limited spaces for people of color in TV and movies.
To Chandran, this mentality is intentionally propagated by industry gatekeepers to pit people of color against each other. “It’s not a zero-sum game,” she said. “You’re so focused on fighting your own that you become...

Tender yet rageful, quiet yet deafening, intimate yet expansive, Jane Schoenbrun’s I Saw the TV Glow is a towering achievement of total artistic freedom, the kind of work where certain images will be eternally burned into your mind and the feelings it exudes will linger far after the credits roll. Expanding the aura of loneliness from We’re All Going to the World’s Fair into a vastly more ambitious, layered canvas, Schoenbrun’s third feature tells the story of Owen, played early on by Ian Foreman and later by Justice Smith in a revelatory performance. Following the isolated journey of questioning his identity through childhood and adulthood, we witness his special infatuation with a late-night TV show and the ineradicable bond it creates with another lonely soul, Maddy (Brigette Lundy-Paine). The deeply expressive, imaginative ways in which Schoenbrun is able to articulate one’s struggle with identity is nothing short of staggering.

‘I Saw the TV Glow’ Review: Justice Smith in a Knockout Teen Drama About Art, Obsession and Identity
Self-discovery can be a painful process, ripping apart everything you thought you knew about the world and your place in it. But even more painful and terrifying is the denial of self. Looking in the mirror and turning away from the truth staring right back at you. It’s hard to understand why we do it — if we only get one life, why not live it authentically? And what happens to us when we live with parts of ourselves sealed away? What kind of life is that? How can anyone love you when you’re never really there?
Owen (Justice Smith) is a gentle, soft-spoken teen, afraid to break out of his shell. He’s been that way since he was a child, growing up with his attentive mother (Danielle Deadwyler) and distant father (Fred Durst). Though he feels drawn to his mother, quietly admiring her beauty and emotional honesty,...

Jack Tatum has readied Hold, his first album as Wild Nothing in five years. The record arrives October 27th via Captured Tracks, and along with it comes a North American tour slated for this fall. Additionally, Wild Nothing has shared the new song “Headlights On” featuring Hatchie, which you can listen to below.
Self-produced by Tatum and mixed by Geoff Swan, Hold features contributions from Molly Burch, Becca Mancari, Tommy Davidson of Beach Fossils, Hatchie, and Tatum’s his wife, Dana. A press release describes the record as more electronic and dance-inspired than Wild Nothing’s previous releases, and the artist spoke anxiously about releasing it (and finally following 2018’s Indigo) in a statement.
“I’ve sat with this record for a very long time now, so naturally I’m both excited and apprehensive to let it see the light,” Tatum said. “It’s my first record as a father.

The Replacements’ beloved major label debut, 1985’s Tim, will be expanded into a four-cd, one-lp box set this summer with a remix, previously unreleased recordings (including a few cuts with Alex Chilton), and a live recording from 1986 recorded a week before their shambolic SNL appearance. As Trevor Noah builds out his post–Daily Show career, the comedian is adding a new job to his resume: Spotify podcaster.
Debuting later this year, the currently unnamed podcast will release weekly and feature Noah’s commentary on timely topics and in-depth conversations with influential figures from around the world, the company said on Tuesday at Cannes Lions.
The series will be a Spotify Original podcast, produced under the recently combined Spotify Studios umbrella that now includes podcast shops Gimlet and Parcast. But unlike Spotify’s major exclusive talent deals of the past, Noah’s podcast will be available on all major platforms.
“It’s really exciting to be joining Spotify on a fun new adventure where we’ll engage in interesting and meaningful conversations with some of the world’s most fascinating people,” Noah said.

Alex Wagner Savages Ron DeSantis’ ‘Terrifying Laugh': ‘Choreographed Attempt to Be Likeable’ (Video)
Alex Wagner opened her MSNBC show “Alex Wagner Tonight” Tuesday with a video tribute to Dwight D. Eisenhower, pioneer of presidential television and the successful “I Like Ike” campaign — and with the notion of “likability” top of mind.
“Today there is one person in particular whose ability to be ‘likable enough’ is really sort of in question: Florida governor Ron DeSantis,” Wagner said.
With a screenshot of DeSantis reeling backwards in laughter over her left shoulder, Wagner began dismantling what she said was a “choreographed” campaign to make the salty statesman, on the brink of announcing his bid for the GOP nomination, seem more human.
“Mr. DeSantis has already made a few early visits to campaign states in a sort of choreographed attempt to be likable,” Wagner said. “According to the New York Times, DeSantis and his team had internal conversations acknowledging the need for him to engage in the...

Decades after its release and six Oscar nominations later, the enduring image associated with 1987's hit thriller "Fatal Attraction" is, for many, a boiled bunny. Enraged by her married partner's decision to call off their brief affair, Alex Forrest (played by Glenn Close) attempts to send a message to Dan Gallagher by cooking his child's pet bunny. The cinematic moment spawned a new term for a jilted paramour but didn't deeply examine why someone would take such drastic actions.
Now, with the embracing of the antihero onscreen and the real-life push for mental health conversations to be shrouded in less stigma, entertainment media is painting a fuller picture of why people make the decisions they do - and that's obvious in Paramount+'s "Fatal Attraction" streaming reboot.

Six months into her gig as host of her own MSNBC show, amid an “absolutely bonkers” news cycle that shows “no signs of letting up,” Alex Wagner says viewers are “getting used” to her after Rachel Maddow passed her the Tuesday through Friday baton and stuck to just Mondays.
“They’re coming to get to know me,” the “Alex Wagner Tonight” host told TheWrap, adding that some viewers knew her from her first iteration as a daytime MSNBC host on “Now With Alex Wagner.” “It’s a lot to ask someone to tune in and spend an hour with a stranger on four nights of the week, and I’ve been really so heartened and enthused by the reaction I’ve gotten from people who didn’t know [me] before.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the March 16 episode of Jeopardy!] Going into the March 16 episode of Jeopardy!, Stephen Webb had a couple of streaks going: He was a seven-day champ who had thus far won $175,282, and he hadn’t found a Daily Double in the last three games. So how did he do when it came to both? Well, even host Ken Jennings remarked on Stephen’s woes when it came to Daily Doubles at the start of the show. “Although our champion Stephen Webb is performing very well here on the Alex Trebek Stage, his skill at tracking down Daily Doubles does not seem to be quite at the same level of mastery,” he said. “Consider this: In his last three games, Stephen has not managed to find a single one of the Daily Doubles available. And yet, he won each of those games very convincingly, so take heart, Andrew and Sarah, he’s good, he’s ...

Team Kara or Team Alex?
On the show's fall finale, Supergirl Season 5 Episode 8, the Danvers sisters were on opposing sides concerning the infamous debate of Lena's villain status.
As we saw our heroes struggle with Lena's betrayal, there was also the problem of Rama Khan's disdain for the human race and, of course, the upcoming threat of the Crisis that has been sorely missed on Supergirl.
Alex was the voice of reason as Kara desperately wanted to believe in Lena's goodness.
It is the classic head versus heart debate that has plagued TV characters for years. Yet, it makes for great television.
You have every reason to fear my brother. I can't promise you that Malefic has changed for good. People make mistakes and they do terrible things. We have to let them do better, bring them back into the light. Otherwise, what's the point in trying to save everyone?...

Created by writer Louise Simonson and illustrator June Brigman, Marvel's "Power Pack" #1 (May 1984), was the first team of preteen superheroes in the 'Marvel Universe'.
The title was relaunched in 2005 for younger readers.
"...'Alex', 'Julie', 'Jack' and 'Katie Power' are four normal kids whose scientist father discovered an efficient and ecologically clean power generator, with a potential downside of destroying the planet.

Mtg’s off-beat Nordic series set in the world of adult movies premiered at Miptv.
UK-based worldwide content distributor Drg has taken on sales of Nordic thriller Veni Vidi Vici, about a washed-up arthouse film director who gets caught up in the world of porn.
It is the latest Nordic series with international ambitions from Swedish production and distribution outfit Mtg Studios.

Its recent comedy series Swedish Dicks - co-starring Keanu Reeves and Peter Stormare - is being sold internationally by Lionsgate, for example.
