Solid episode
Kingslaay28 April 2018
A really decent episode this week, probably the best in a while.

Classic supernatural elements that make the show great. Sam and Dean team up with Gabriel to take revenge against a team of demi-gods who sold him. The three make a great team and the humor just flows. Especially Dean who want's to hear all about Gabriel's time in Monte Carlo and the porn stars. Also interesting origin story about Gabriel.

Meanwhile Mary and Jack's story line really picked up and got interesting. The stakes have been raised and lives could have been lost. Increasing the intensity in that world really worked. An enjoyable episode.

Much more successful than the prior QT homage

This is basically a condensed version of Kill Bill and unlike the prior Reservoir Dogs send-up this one make sense in the context of the show. Of course Gabriel is going to use a kill list. The episode is quite fun and I love the version of the Norse characters. It-unfortunately-still feels to much like a hack trying to copy QT.

No, not really

I may be a little biased as I am not a big fan of seasons 12 or 13 anyway so take this with a pinch of salt but the 6 I have given is on the generous side.

As with most of season 13, this AGAIN is not about Sam and Dean, it's about them watching other story lines and participating just to...well not sure quite what they are there for. A petty revenge story by Gabriel who they really shouldn't have bought back. This episode quickly introduces characters and then destroys them before you really know or realise who they actually are, what they can do or what they are supposed to have done. I feel like the Gabriel jokes are old and forced and the banter tiring. Not sure about the lazy fight scene, with Dean, Sam and Gabriel and some norse gods I expected better than the lights out scene! What a let down.

The story about the alternate universe is boring and predictable with very few scenes, and those we get are cheap and basic. Kevin's one liners border on pathetic and are blatantly recycled from other episodes. Mary really isn't working in this episode either as a leader or a mentor. Her protective maternal relationship with Jack just doesn't work, it is disjointed and out of place especially considering she couldn't even make Dean and Sam her boys in the first place.

Here's to the undying hope that the next episode will be better, which I am sure it will. This is Supernatural after all.

My god the melodrama

Is it just me or was this ep just way worse with its soap-opera. Almost every character had a whiny soap-opera moment. Its not badass, its nit exciting, its stretched out. I love the characters and knowing what is going on in their head but supernatural has delivered that in subtle way more better ways than constantly making the atmosphere feel like a soap-opera. As for the plot i just see no tension, no emotions, the Gods were pathetic, what was with the carrot eating... I can't stand Mary, writers we get it, she is a mom, a 20ish year old mom, who has 30ish year old sons and for some reason is behaving so motherly to a man she met 5 minutes ago and even to Kevin Tran. Do better with her character jeez.
