The problem with making horror shows is that most writers don't know how to end them. Most of the time they mess it up. If you write a drama or a comedy or an action movie, you give it good ending, right? You give it a happy ending. The good guys win. But when writing a horror movie, for some reason writers feel the need to have the bad guys win...or ghosts or zombies or demons or whatever.
It's been many years since there were good horror writers making good horror shows. The original Poltergeist comes to mind, along with the original Exorcist. But in the years since, all we've seen are great shows ruined by bad endings. Requiem is no exception.
It had a great premise...excellent premise. The idea for the plot was fantastic. If only they could have hired experienced writers who have done great non-horror shows, and given them this storyline to work with. That way they would "accidentally" give it a good ending. What viewers want is for things to turn out ok in the end. We also want the storyline to make sense, and of course having everyone in town hate Matilda because "she ain't from around here" and "we don't cotton to outsiders" is incredibly tripe and cliched and utterly stupid. So real writers could have fixed that, and then fixed the ending.
So boooooo to this stupid ending. Yay for a great idea, but boooo to the stupid writers who ruined it.
