Good Enough

Shimokitazawa Die Hard has an odd title and an even odder film poster. However, the drama was good. Some of the stories were really entertaining and interesting to follow. Others, however, not so much, as they followed a ridiculous plot line. But, all of them had good performances from all the actors and actresses. I also enjoyed the variety of the stories that were presented. Plus, the execution was really good as well and the dialogues quite good. So, seven and a half (leaning towards eight) out of ten.

Pretty Bad

I have to say from living in the city for twenty years, that this plasticine poopfest managed to exclude any authentic historical or cultural quality of the city or its inhabitants. Of course the city itself is now sterilized, there was a time when the city had not a single parking lot, chain shop of any kind, not even a mcDonalds, and the Odakyu crossing (now underground) was manually operated by an employee in a booth. The firetrap town had dozens of standing bars, where a max of 5 or 6 people could fit, yet they were busy until morning, every morning, for the alcoholic stage actors, junkie musicians and failed novelists to riotously commiserate. Now its a bunch of middle class kids shopping. Don't know what this silly series was trying to accomplish, but it doesn't look like Shimo. I guess they thought putting some recognizable words in their title would help.
