Surprisingly great.

Can't say I'm an expert on acting by Japanese actors speaking Japanese, so as far as that goes it seemed fine. I'm a bit of a slow reader so most of my time was spent reading rather than watching what was really going on, anyway. The script however seemed a bit like something out of a harem Anime, but even so something about the premise seemed interesting to me. It seemed, based off the blurb written on Netflix, that it might be kind of a neat mystery, and it turned out to be that and more.

Critically speaking I can't say a lot for its technical quality, but I intended on only watching one episode. I went in feeling pretty down, and uninterested in general, but as I say the shows premise piqued it regardless so I figured I'd give it a shot, and as time went on I kept watching one episode after another until I had finished the whole series.

I'm really not much of a crier, even by man terms, but this got my eyes pretty foggy by the end. I enjoyed the characters, and I enjoyed the series theme of quality vs popularity.

It's probably not going to win a lot of awards, but as it turns out I have a soft spot for the show, and it's easily my favorite 1-season show I've seen.

Intriguing and Different Mystery Drama
PalmBeachG14 July 2022
Usually watch K-Drama but the description of this J-Drama caught my attention therefore decided to watch it. I was really surprised at the intriguing and different mystery plot that I have never seen before or could even dream up. It is all kind of unbelievable that 5 women and 1 man would live together without really knowing why and go along with it but that all contributes to the mystery of the drama. Each woman starts to like him or love him of course which adds a sense of romance to the show although the male lead Shin Michima (Yojiro Noda) is cast as clueless, meek, soft spoken, emotionless and focused on his career. Yojiro Noda did a great job in this role and would love to see him in the future. I did take off 2 stars for the reason that the anonymous threatening faxes that were sent to his home were too easy to predict who the sender really was. It was guessable from the beginning.

meaningless escapist drivel emptier than styrofoam

2 stars. I have no idea how I made it into episode 4 before quitting this absolutely shallow drivel. It's empty escapism devoid of substance. Many viewers apparently enjoy this genre per the IMDb rating and the reviews on Netflix, but I'm unable to, despite trying. The script and acting have less content than styrofoam.
