In the world of cinema, where innovation reigns supreme, producer Prerna Arora and director Suresh Krissna are set to challenge Indian cinema norms with ‘Hero Heeroine.’ Known for groundbreaking projects like ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Padman,’ Arora promises fresh narratives. “Hero Heeroine” is a love saga exploring the dynamics between reel and real.
However, it was during a recent coffee rendezvous in Chennai that Prerna Arora and Suresh Krissna stumbled upon a revelation that would change the course of their project. Why confine the narrative to Hindi in a city steeped in the rich tapestry of Telugu cinema? Just as Tamil, Malayalam, or Bengali talents contribute to the magic of Hindi cinema, the film showcases a diverse cast and crew from different corners of the country, converging in Hyderabad to create something truly extraordinary.
“This is more than just a film; it’s a cultural phenomenon,” says Prerna Arora.

Producer Prerna Arora, who has previously supported socially relevant themes in films, is back with yet another poignant movie, titled Dunk. The movie sheds light on the pervasive issue of the land mafia and how it affects farmers. Directed by Abhishek Jaiswal, the film aspires to raise awareness and trigger conversations about the exploitation of land resources.
Talking about the project, Prerna Arora spoke about how the film highlights the government’s ignorance towards the agriculture sector. She said that she also believes how cinema has the power to bring in a change in society. “Dunk focuses on the urgent need for legal protections, enforcement mechanisms, and support systems to safeguard the rights of farmers. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya Box Office Collection Day 1 Vs Top 10 Valentine Openers ( Photo Credit – Maddock Films / YouTube )
Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya opened at 7.02 crore at the box office, and it has entered the list of top openers of Valentine’s week releases in the last 13 years. Since 2011, 17 films have been released during Valentine’s Week, and Tbmauj is among the top 10 opening films of Valentine’s Week.
However, this might not be a very welcoming move for Tbmauj since most of the films released during Valentine’s Week have not earned a hit status. In fact, even in the top 10 openers, some films flopped at the box office, including Sara Ali Khan & Kartik Aaryan’s Love Aaj Kal.

New Delhi, Feb 4 (Ians) The Indian diaspora spread all over the world has mostly stayed connected to its roots. And one of the institutions that keeps this connection alive is Indian cinema. These films could be in Hindi or in any of the South Indian languages.
The Indian film market is spread far and wide, but Indian films also have to conform to the local culture and sensibilities, mainly of the religious kind. We do not make films that are against any other country or its culture, but when it comes to religious sentiments, considering the mixed population we have, Indian films feature characters from different religious backgrounds. Yet, Indian films cannot always please all people.
Almost all countries exhibiting films have their own censorship bodies. It is also not uncommon for them to occasionally ban films from theatrical release. The reason could be a vulgarity, nudity or religious sentiments being hurt.

Dunki Box Office (Worldwide): Shah Rukh Khan Surpasses Not One Or Two But Nine Films’ Lifetime Total… (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki has entered the 200 crore club (worldwide) in just five days, thanks to Shah’s firm hold in the international markets. Its nasty box office clash with Prabhas’ Salaar has resulted in what everyone kind of predicted the outcome to be. But, despite all the roadblocks, Rajkumar Hirani’s yet another attempt at bringing back families together in cinema halls rejoicing in the festive spirit seems to be doing its thing.
In India, the film has managed to clock 105.63 crores in 5 days, which proves why Srk certainly deserves to flaunt the tag of ‘Overseas Box Office King.’ Why so? Many of you may ask! It’s because the film has collected in a similar range internationally as it has earned back home.

‘Bhed Chaal’ is a Hindi proverb very much used in relation to the Hindi film industry. It means that one huge success is followed by numerous other attempts. Original ideas are at a premium in the Hindi film industry. The makers either depend on a foreign film, or a novel, or a South Indian film for a subject.
Filmmakers always want to play safe because the risk factor is always high. The distributor, while being wined and dined, gets a sales pitch, like “Zanjeer se kam nahi hamari picture…” and such. Many smaller-budget imitations of ‘Sholay’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewaar’ and other such films flooded the market. That is to say, if one action film worked, many more were certain to follow.
With the introduction of the video format followed by CDs, the trend changed to copying Hollywood films. A star was sent two videos or discs to watch, and they were...

Singer and music director Amit Trivedi opens up on composing music for the first song ‘Gaya Gaya Gaya’ from R Balki’s directorial venture ‘Chup: Revenge Of The Artist’. He shares how he tried to compliment the storyline with his tunes.
Amit explains: “‘Chup’ is a versatile film and it comes from a one-of-a-kind storyline. We had to compose something that could fall in line with the film’s essence and we found ‘Gaya Gaya Gaya’. The song is written by lyricist Swanand Kirkire and sung by Rupali Moghe and Shashwat Singh.
Balki, who is known for his films such as ‘Padman’ has made this film taking inspiration from Guru Dutt’s 1959 classic ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’.

Bhagat’s book, which broke pre-sale records on Amazon India when it was launched, revolves around a high-flying woman financier who is intelligent and successful, but finds it difficult to find love.
The author of nine novels, Bhagat is known for lucid and fast-moving stories that translate well into film. Previous film adaptations of Bhagat’s books include “3 Idiots” (based on Bhagat’s first novel “Five Point Someone”) “2 States” and the award-winning hit “Kai Po Che” (based on “The Three Mistakes of My Life”). Bachchhan Paandey
Starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Jacqueline Fernandez
Directed by Farhad Samji
Akshay Kumar does a Pushpa and gets away with it. He kills, destroys property, and vandalizes good taste. But hey, his men love him. And the women too. Mr. Pandey’s ragged army consists of Kandi (Saharsh Kumar Shukla), Bufferia Chacha (Sanjay Mishra), Pendulum (Abhimanyu Singh), and Virgin (Prateik Babbar). Each of the four is given a backstory, lest Mr. Pandey is accused of hogging the limelight.
Kandi, for example, is a porn addict, and his wife catches him red-handed if you know what I mean. Pendulum …I am not sure why he is thus named. I suspect it’s something obscene. When his sweetheart is forced to marry another man, Pendulum gatecrashes the wedding with Mr. Pandey singing Sarey bolo bewafaa. The bride also joins in with Pandeyji, doing dance moves that...

Grown adults behave like horny kids in this ill-judged comedy, meant to start discussion about contraception in India
The eyebrow-raising title is intentional: Satramm Ramani’s comedy has been fashioned after 2017’s Toilet: A Love Story and 2018’s Pad Man, Hindi films designed to initiate conversations around subjects deemed taboo in 21st-century India. The national reticence addressed in this case is condom use: an urgent matter, given the country’s explosive population growth and Std rates. Ramani’s cheerfully flimsy farce means to be to the India of 2021 what Madness’s House of Fun video was to 1980s Britain, with its nudging innuendo and nervy approaches to the pharmacist. Yet the film’s leads aren’t red-faced teens, but 30-plus. The problem being dramatised is clear, but one of Helmet’s weaknesses is that it demands we watch grown adults behaving like dumb, horny kids.
The national conversation is summarised by a prologue,...

Actress Radhika Apte feels the nepotism conversation is complicated, and not just related to the film industry.

Since the time Sacred Games released on the Ott streaming platform Netflix, there has been a debate on whether the content on these platforms should be kept in check or let to run loose.
The series had never-seen-before morbidity, unnatural sex, filthiest of foul language and yet delivered nothing that one could take home. Taking home was a phrase much related to films as there were times when one walked out of a cinema hall humming one of the film's songs or repeating its dialogue. What do you take home from, say, Sacred Games, Pataal Lok, Mirzapur, Mastram and such?
This column just recently discussed the limitations of the Cinematograph Act by which the authority of the Central Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) extends only till rating and certifying a film product that is meant for public exhibition.
In such an event, there is no check on what passes as Ott content.

EntertainmentSome of these films have retained the origins of the character though the language is Hindi while others have completely changed their identity. Tnm StaffThe newly released biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl has opened to good reviews but has also snowballed into a controversy for supposedly distorting facts about the Indian Air Force. More importantly, the film does not show Iaf pilot Sreevidya Rajan from Kerala, who also served in the Kargil war with Gunjan. Sreevidya has, in fact, said that she was the first woman Iaf officer to fly in a combat zone and not Gunjan as the film suggests. Though the makers have said that the film is a fictionalised account, it has drawn sharp criticism for these departures. While Bollywood has made several biopics and films based on real life incidents, the southern industries are slowly catching up with the trend. Perhaps in future, south Indian...

Actress Sonam Kapoor Ahuja will be seen in "The Zoya Factor" soon. She feels she does her best while acting in comedy films.
"I think I like to skip genres with every film so, my last few films have been 'Veere Di Wedding, 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga', 'Padman', 'Sanju', 'Khoobsurat' and 'Neerja'. I am lucky enough that the directors of those films considered me for those roles. I think I do my best in comedy films but the audience thinks I do better in films like 'Raanjhanaa' and 'Neerja'. I don't know what is my genre but I enjoy doing comedy a lot. I feel very comfortable and easy while doing comedy. I don't think there are many films being made these days especially which are just carefree and fun with content in the backdrop,...

Actress Anita Hassanandani, who has just wrapped up "Naagin 3", believes in the power of television as a medium to reach out to viewers in small towns.
"I do believe in TV as a medium. In smaller towns, people really follow you (actors). They want to know how you lead your life. I feel TV has more power than any other medium because people personally connect with your characters. They see you every day. There's a different connection they make with you," Anita told Ians over phone.
She also feels artistes across the board, irrespective of the medium, must leverage their popularity to spread the message on any kind of upliftment.
Akshay Kumar-starrer "PadMan", for one, has done quite a bit in opening up discussions on the need for awareness on menstrual hygiene.
Anita, who has built a fan following with shows like "Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii", "Kkavyanjali" and "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" over the years,...

The 'josh' for patriotic films is 'high' in Bollywood. After the success of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Hindi movie buffs can gear up to watch Kesari, Major, Raw, Batla House, Panipat, Saare Jahaan Se Accha, Mission Mangal, '83 and a biopic on Kargil war hero Vikram Batra, among others. Amid the escalating tension between India and Pakistan, netizens turned to past and recent patriotic films to dig out memorable dialogues, the most recent being from "Uri: The Surgical Strike", based on the surgical strikes that India conducted on terror camps in Pakistan in 2016.
The Indian Air Force's air strike on terror camps in Pakistan, which was in retaliation to the February 14 Pulwama terror attack, led to social media speculations that a "Surgical Strike 2" could be made.
