Deeper and Deeper.
Sleepin_Dragon26 October 2018
I mentioned in a previous episode that I was expecting a dialogue heavy episode, that didn't have a huge deal of action, this is possibly it. It's still excellent viewing, gripping, and certainly intriguing, but it is definitely a little flat in comparison to the explosive first three episodes.

This one is plunging David deeper into a state of panic, it seems that everything appears to be conspiring against him, he's forced to spy on his boss, and now seems he may be complicit in her death.

Of course the main question here is, 'is she?' I won't comment of course, should anyone read this not have seen the episode yet.

Very well acted once again, Paul Ready very good, but once again it's Gina McKee who's standing out for me. I am finding Richard Madden captivating to watch, he is unbelievable in every scene, such a talent.

I know the next two will be big and bold.

She can't be!! 7/10

Surprising Events

Warning: Spoilers
David is immersed in his own demons. When his charge is killed, he holds himself responsibility. He goes from his robotic persona to one steeped in emotion. I guess there is almost a Japanese element to this where on feels he must die, not because he did something, but because he allowed it to happen. Far Eastern religion often teaches this. He is an enigma. He is silent and inward. We are also made privy to a great deal of activity within the political framework by operatives that are popping up. I have to admit that the events of this episode totally floored me. I was convinced that there would be some sort of series of events that led to exoneration and the home secretary would be at the center of it. Well crafted and dark.

Warning: Spoilers
David (Richard Madden) attempts suicide with a gun in this episode. it turns out to be loaded with blanks. if you do this, you won't survive either. Bored on the set of the movie Cover up (1984), actor Jon-Erik Hexum put a prop-gun loaded with a blanks to his head and pulled the trigger. He died in the hospital.

Episode 1.4

Warning: Spoilers
David Budd's life spirals out of control. He failed to protect Julia Montague. The explosion in that set piece speech at the college has left his colleague dead, Julia at the hospital and Budd is a person of interest with the investigating police.

The police take away his phone, his computer and go through his house. Yet something has been moved, someone has got to his home before the police it seems.

We know this as David realises that the bullets in his gun are blanks.

It would had been a turn up for the books if the two main stars in this series needed replacements midway through.

The tension is gripping. I have no idea which way this series is going, no one can be trusted apart from David's children.
