The song was Five Star's biggest hit in the US, peaking at #41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at #7 on the Hot R&B chart. It became the group's 2nd top ten hit in their home country, peaking at #7 on the UK singles chart.
Shortly before Five Star's version became a hit, female vocal trio Lewis (later known as Lewis Sisters), released a version as the B-side to their single "If the Love Fits". Also in 1986, another version of the song (performed by an unnamed act) was heard on the soundtrack of the Ron Howard film Gung Ho (1986).
